- Chapter 312: Li Yang Is A Good Instructor?
Bo Lifen took a deep breath and stared into the inviting dark trove of trees in front of her… it beckoned her to enter and possibly leave behind the problems of her world in the hands of those more capable than her.
A knee jerk reaction she had to trouble was exactly like this. Instead of facing them as what people expected of someone her personality would do, she was running away and hiding.
Even just imagining the belligerent attitude of the cultivator in her tea shop made her heart drop. The heretic cultivator without a care about other people and only saw them through the myoscopic lenses of the criteria he chose to measure them through.
All of it was done without a hint of remorse at all.
What scared Bo Lifen was the fact that she could do nothing during that time.
But now she was far away and safe. She didn’t say anything to her parents because she didn’t want them to worry but she only contacted the authorities about needing more protection.
The Shou Temple Sect was a larger and revived sect that had competent people running it. It meant that Senior Longwei was incapable of coming here without facing the elders and strong disciples of this sect.
Coincidentally, she arrived first before Li Yang and his partners did.
“Miss Lifen?” Li Yang called out to her.
Bo Lifen glanced over her shoulder and smiled. “Ah, Li Yang and… Bai Minghua?!”
Narissa stared at her and crossed her arms over her chest. She pursed her lips and then flipped back some of her beautiful blue hair over her shoulder. “Didn’t you recognize me from the bar before?”
Bo Lifen blinked. “I may have forgotten about that, your attire back then was…”
“Sloppy?” Narissa raised a brow.
“Didn’t fit with the image of an idol. Well, it must be an undercover attire.” Bo Lifen shook her head at the sudden distraction she received from seeing an idol standing with a former CEO.
Perhaps Bo Lifen shouldn’t care about the woman standing beside him… but somehow, she still did.
The two of them looked incredibly good by standing with one another, and though she didn’t think that a woman was supposed to be some kind of accessory to make a man look good—she was thinking that Bai Minghua and Li Yang looked like a stylish couple.
A mature and cool-looking man with a rather cute but elegant girlfriend.
Bo Lifen bet she looked too frumpy around him or something. Ah, why was she even thinking about that now? She wasn’t here for this at all.
“Did you wait too long?” Li Yang raised a brow at her silence. Perhaps she was being awkward with how she talked with them, less straightforward and more conversational that even he noticed it.
It was a little difficult to detect it from his expression at first, but Bo Lifen knew that he was worried and she shook her head. “Don’t worry about it. I arrived here with my brother for his training, you remember Bo Lei, right?”
“Yes,” Li Yang nodded. There was a slight pause before he said it again. “Yes I did.”
Bo Lifen smiled. “Yeah, he’s currently undergoing Module IX – Strengthening Techniques for Foundation Establishment with fellow disciples here in the temple.”
“Really? I didn’t expect it to be that organized around here,” Li Yang rubbed his chin. “I mean, I understand that there are scrolls and others… but ah, cultivation divided into chunk-sized modules makes it easy to grasp, doesn’t it?”
“I guess you could say that.”
“You could have joined them if you actually knew about this place,” Li Yang pointed out.
“Well, I’m a little older by conventional standards,” Bo Lifen crossed her arms. “A lot like you in a way. Although I suppose you think we’re different from each other, right?”
“I have never thought about it like that,” Li Yang seriously said. “While I am aware that there’ll be a lot of hurdles due to you only choosing to learn more now, I’ll do my best to help you.”
Bo Lifen coughed and averted her gaze. “I see…”
She was trying to be a bit sarcastic, but the man interpreted her words as if she needed to be consoled by their difference in strength. In a way it did stung that someone from outside a cultivator society advanced faster, but Bo Lifen was also focused on Li Yang as an individual.
Li Yang was really just like this.
He took things as they came and took them at complete face value—doing his best to give a proper answer.
In a way, her cute little brother’s demeanor somehow reminded her of Li Yang in a way. Both were a bit too serious for their own good… and while it was cute for a child, when it came to Li Yang, she knew that it was important for him to lighten up a bit.
For a moment, Bo Lifen wanted to reach out and pat his arm or give it a squeeze, but she didn’t want to make a sudden move that would give away their closer and more intimate relationship.
Bo Lifen doubted that she was mentioned by Li Yang at all. If what he explained to her in the Celestial ship was the truth, in a way, Bo Lifen could be considered a stepping stone for him. The two of them had sex together so the other women would also get to experience it.
“Miss Lifen, if you don’t mind me asking… What about your other brother?”
“My other brother?”
Li Yang’s words pulled her out of her thoughts. There was an inquisitive look on his face as he nodded briefly. “I understand that Grandma Lanfen is not exactly a cultivator, and neither are you… it seems to not be a practice with everyone in the Bo Family despite your cultivator ties?”
Bo Lifen thought about her brother and smiled bittersweetly. “Ah, well, there’s a reason why he can’t… and why Bo Ling doesn’t know. I know that it’s unlikely that the two of you would meet for any sort of reason, but please make no mention of this at all.”
“I understand,” Li Yang frowned but nodded. “My apologies, I did not know that it was a sensitive topic?”
“Ah, it’s fine. You don’t have to apologize or think about it too much,” Bo Lifen waved at him and instead glanced back at the idol. Bai Minghua was a Mermaid and that explained why she was an incredibly good singer.
Narissa who was only listening to the obvious two idiots go about in circles in their interaction for some reason noticed the Tea Sommelier’s attention. “Huh? What is it?”
“I’m just appreciative that you took on a role to help Li Yang out,” Bo Lifen coughed and averted her gaze. “I was under the impression that you and Sun Aoyun had some backstage romance happening behind the curtains.”
“Oh for the love of the seven seas, barf.” Narissa shook her head and scrunched up her nose. “The guy is a literal monkey. What’s so appealing about that?”
“Well, there’s nothing wrong with animals!” Taiga called out from behind them although Li Yang slightly winced at how her words probably sounded to someone else. She was accompanied by a couple of younger disciples and at least an elder from the Shou Sect.
“Bossman, here are some people from the sect. They’d like to properly meet you. The Sect Leader is a bit preoccupied with some matters, but I’m sure they’ll also come out.”
“Greetings,” The currently present elder and his disciples bowed politely to Li Yang and one of them spoke up as a representative. “Thank you so much for looking after Sister Taiga now that she is primarily under your care. She’s a bit of a handful, but she has the best intentions.”
“No problem, Miss Taiga has been a delight to be with.” Li Yang lowered his hand. The man seemed a bit used to handshakes, but managed to pull his hand back before anyone else noticed. “Thank you for lending some space for me to accommodate Miss Lifen’s lessons.”
The younger disciples’ eyes widened and spoke to each other. “We didn’t realize that Sister Taiga’s employer was an amazing teacher!”
“Yeah, with all due respect, I can’t believe that you’d be undertaking someone who has passed the golden age for cultivation.” one of the disciples said and then gestured to Bo Lifen. “You can do it, Miss!”
Bo Lifen found herself a bit ticked despite their nice intentions.
“Not only is Taiga’s employer a billionaire CEO, he also happens to be skilled in ways of teaching and parting his cultivation knowledge. Taiga said that you had an incredible cultivation technique that even a beast spirit like her actually appreciates.”
“Is that so?” Li Yang raised a brow at Taiga who hid behind the back of her fellow sect members.
Bo Lifen could tell that the spirit put in a good word for him.
“Yes! Actually, it would be an honor if we could participate or observe in your lectures, sir. Could we join you?”
It was almost amazing how these people could openly gossip and discuss a man right in his face and also asked to observe Li Yang’s private lessons with Bo Lifen. She thought that having Taiga and Bai Minghua around was already a small thing she felt a bit uneasy about, but the others were also interested.
Bo Lifen wasn’t sure if she’d like everyone observing them even if Li Yang actually turned out to be a good instructor. She didn’t want to say anything when she was the one asking for a favor though.
So his answer came as a surprise.
