My Chaotic City - Chapter 51
Time slowly passed by.
Big Trader and Little Liuzi regularly came over to restock. After two or three trips, Li Hanqiang slowly accumulated 50 or so gold coins again.
It was approaching 11am when Li Hanqiang left the Blue Ripple Pond and headed to the Cave Dwelling in Gremlin’s Mountain to gather some little gremlins that he stationed at the War Corridor.
There was not much time left and his friends had yet to arrive. Li Hanqiang could not help but feel somewhat anxious. He ran through his friends’ list and contacted Fanning Knight and Fiery Blade Sage.
Fanning Knight replied. [We’ll be there soon, we’ll be there soon. We have been wandering for quite a few days and have finally found a city. Don’t worry, we’ll be at the Chaos Temple soon.]
Fiery Blade Sage replied as well. [The enemy will reach the battlefield in 30 minutes. Allies only require five minutes!]
To himself, Li Hanqiang thought that even though both of them were dimwits, they were fairly loyal friends and he was happy to have them.
As promised, within five minutes, both of them had bought their tickets and traveled over. They were in high spirits despite their lower level of Level 10.
Li Hanqiang did not speak and instead gave them both 10 gold coins each. After that, he took out the Bright Green Turtle Shell and gave it to Fanning Knight. “Buy more potion and use this turtle shell first. When the attack begins, there will be no Chaotic Stone Slab to protect you. Use this turtle shell to protect yourself a little.”
Fanning Knight rushed over excitedly as he said, “In the past, I looked down on this equipment. It was only later that I knew this was a good item. This is great, I have a turtle shell too!”
Fiery Blade Sage spoke out from one side, “I knew since long ago that the Bright Green Turtle Shell was a good piece of equipment. You would not know until you’ve taken a beating. It’s priceless and cannot be sold!”
He had experienced a revelation regarding the strength of this turtle shell.
A moment later, Dark Redemption arrived. He wore a blue cloak and leather armor. There was a short dagger strapped to his hip and in his hand was a longbow which emitted a faint blue glow. His entire equipment set was blue grade.
Fanning Knight and Fiery Blade Sage assessed Dark Redemption closely and could not help but feel envious. To be able to collect such an equipment set meant that this Dark Redemption was no ordinary person.
Li Hanqiang pulled out Fireball and handed it over to Dark Redemption. “Nothing needs to be said, I’ll give this to you!”
Dark Redemption smiled and accepted the gift.
A few minutes later, the time of the attack was imminent but Big Trader had not yet arrived. Li Hanqiang sent him a message to follow up, however Big Trader immediately went offline.
“Whether or not someone’s dependable can be found out in a moment.”
Li Hanqiang immediately knew Big Trader’s intentions and he sighed to himself.
Truthfully, he never really thought Big Trader was of much help. In any case he was a merchant and his attack power was very weak. It was just that a player could be seen as a type of military might and it was just safer to have another person.
As for Big Trader’s “sudden escape”, Li Hanqiang could actually understand. If they failed to defend a city, their levels would be wiped. The risks were immense and he and Big Trader were not that close to each other, so why would Big Trader take on such a risk?
However, Li Hanqiang also had an epiphany as well. He thought to himself that if he had successfully defended the city this time, he would need to be careful in the future when interacting with Big Trader.
What was out of Li Hanqiang’s expectations was that even though Big Trader did not come, Little Liuzi did.
Little Liuzi was Dark Redemption’s follower and had been ordered over by Dark Redemption. He had a very low level and low-grade equipment. Really, he was just a placeholder.
Dark Redemption spoke at this moment. “I really didn’t expect that there would be an attack at this time. Li Hanqiang, I’m not sure if your Defensive Towers can hold the line. It’s a pity that my friends are all busy on a quest, if not I’d have called them over to defend the city.”
Li Hanqiang waved his hand. “It’s already good enough that you’re here. Whether or not we can hold the line… Who knows what will happen? If we have heart and the dream is alive, it will be no big deal to try again.”
He had just spoken when Li Hanqiang received a system notification.
[Ding, the attack on the city is about to begin. All non-military buildings are sealed. The entrance to the Blue Ripple Pond and the Cave Dwelling in Gremlin’s Mountain are also sealed. All troops have been moved to the front lines.]
Li Hanqiang and his comrades lifted their heads to see a massive board had appeared in the sky.
—
Defenders (Chaotic City No.68) Statistics
Number of Defensive Towers: 16
Chaotic City Troops: 130
Player Numbers: 4/4
Defense Time: 0/48
—
Li Hanqiang glanced over the board and immediately understood. What was referred to as military might was based on the headcount. He had managed to get Fanning Knight, Fiery Blade Sage, and Dark Redemption. Along with Little Liuzi, the military might of Players was 4.
As for the military might of the Chaotic City displayed as 130, those were naturally the number of little gremlins from Gremlin’s Mountain.
The little gremlins’ profession was ‘citizen’ and the profession of the Little Drill Gremlin was ‘militia’. They were part of the Chaotic City and would die if the city were overrun, so naturally, they would join in the defense!
These little gremlins were all transferred to the side of the Chaos’ Core as the Little Drill Gremlin’s green head looked around.
Li Hanqiang looked once more at the mechanics of a city attack. The success of a defense rested entirely on the military strength of the defenders. If that were the case, then Dark Redemption and the others, as well as the little green gremlins, were the most important in this battle. The defense would be a success as long as they could survive for 48 hours without dying.
“If we were to maintain our lives and power…”
Li Hanqiang knew the little gremlins were all cowards. When the battle began, they would definitely hide wherever they could and would not go out to the front line on their own. However, if circumstances required it, Li Hanqiang could send them out as cannon fodder.
As for Dark Redemption and the others, they did not need to stand on the Chaotic Stone Slabs. During a defense battle, they could stand on the War Corridor.
During this time, the three of them had already made some preparations. They stood roughly 200 meters away from the Space-Time Wormhole. Fanning Knight and Fiery Blade Sage were bedecked in their Bright Green Turtle Shells as they lay down on the ground.
The two of them were glowing green, and Fanning Knight had 4500 HP. He spoke to Dark Redemption, “The both of us will hold the front as you attack from the rear. Don’t worry, we can take it!”
Fiery Blade Sage had 3300 HP and said, “Too bad there’s no healer! If there were a healer to heal us, we could hold up longer! City Lord, you must control the Defensive Towers and prioritize the ones who attack me. Don’t bother about Fanning Knight as he has higher HP than me.”
Li Hanqiang nodded and thought to himself that the two of them were purely here to take damage. They even lay down on their bellies, which was a smart move.
Dark Redemption had a strange look on his face, however when he looked at Fanning Knight and Fiery Blade Sage, his eyes slowly began to light up.
“What high HP. What high physical and magical defense. If we were to use these bodies to block a boss…”
While he thought about it, Dark Redemption could not help but laugh before yelling, “Alright! Let’s work together!”
At this moment, an announcement rang out. There was one last minute before the attack and the Space-Time Wormhole slowly began to expand.
Above it, a board appeared.
—
Attackers (Chaotic City No. 69) Numbers
Attackers Troops: 10000/10000
Chaotic City Troops: 0
Player Numbers: 625/625
—
Li Hanqiang took a look. There were no Chaotic City troops and that was to be expected. He was unsure of what was going on at Chun Sanyue’s home.
However, there were over 625 players!
625 was not a massive number but it was nothing to sneeze at either. Li Hanqiang estimated that the Emperor’s Rich Guild and Chun Sanyue had done their utmost.
