My Crazy Rich Family : Running From My Psycho Father - Chapter 100
Chapter 100: spirits of daughters present
Chike was close to the gate when he received the call from his fiancee to turn around and hold on to Kara for a while longer.
It was a bizarre request that hyped his curiosity and Chike hated not knowing about things or being kept in the dark.
So, he turned his head away from Kara to ask more questions.
“What is going on, Elena?” Chike whispered so Kara wouldn’t hear him, which was a bad decision since she was sitting right beside him and everyone knows that whispering only draws attention to the whisperer.
“Tamara Jones is here….”Elena answered but she was Interrupted by Chike
“Wait! What?!” Chike screamed.
He couldn’t help himself. Tamara Jones, the girl his friend spent years looking for, was back from the dead? It was strange and he knew that trouble wasn’t far behind.
“Yes…and she may have showed up with a daughter…Jason’s daughter”
“Holy…” Chike stopped himself on time from screaming but his face still looked ashen.
“Alright, I will buy you three hours then I am returning her” Chike said and hung up.
He fought every urge that screamed at him to run to his friend’s side and be with him.
He smiled awkwardly at the young curious girl beside him.
Kara didn’t buy it.
“It’s my parents, isn’t it?” Kara asked him.
“No. Everything is fine. Do you want to go swimming?” Chike asked to distract her.
“You want me to go swimming….in my school uniform?” Kara asked like he should know better.
“Then let’s go shopping first….”
Kara interrupted Chike by asking a question.
“Are they getting a divorce?”
“No…sweetie no, your mother is checking out her wedding dress with your Aunt Elena and grandma and fifty other people. There is no room for you. So, answer one question? Would you rather help Mckenna try on dresses or do you want to play the game called God of war with your favorite uncle and eat a bunch of junk snacks? Tik Tok…TikTok” Chike tapped on his wrist watch as he waited for her response.
“Video game!” Kara yelled with a smile.
“Good girl!”

With Kara taken care of, Mckenna came down to the living room. She was wearing a t-shirt and a pair of Jeans.
Elena, Elixir, E.J and Jason were in the sitting room barely talking to each other.
“I am surprised you named her after me” Elixir commented with a distant smile.
“It seemed appropriate and….”
“Okay!” Mckenna interrupted Tammy “Enough with the chit chat. Elena, I need you to leave” Mckenna told her best friend.
“Excuse me?” Elena and made no effort to stand up.
“My seven year old is with Chike…. Chike! I need you to make sure he brings her back to me in one piece…please” Mckenna instructed.
“Alright….but I am just a phone call away, okay?” Elena stood up and hugged her friend before leaving.
“Okay” Mckenna nodded and then she continued.
“Elixir?”
“Yes” both grandma Elixir and granddaughter Elixir answered.
“This is weird. Mom, I don’t call you by name. I was talking to Tammy’s daughter but to avoid incidence, I will just call you EJ” Mckenna concluded.
“Mom, I also need you to leave and if Tammy doesn’t mind, you should take EJ with you”
“Sure, I don’t mind” Tammy accepted.
“Come on sweetheart” Elixir took the girl’s hand who had spent the better part of the minute looking at Jason, who conveniently avoided her gaze from where he sat.
“Bye, daddy” EJ whispered before picking up her backpack and following Elixir out.
“Great! Hi, I am Mckenna. I am Jason’s wife. And now that the awkward introduction is out of the way. I have an errand to run and both of you have a lot of catching up to do ” Mckenna grabbed the car keys and bag near the dining table and she left.
She had to deal with one problem at a time including Jackson Donna. Then she needed to stop by a pharmacy.
Tammy spoke first after they were left alone.
“You grew up well, Jassy” Tammy observed with a smile.
“Nobody calls me that now…what happened, Tamara. I looked for you for almost ten years. I am going to need some kind of explanation from you” Jason finally looked at her.
“You looked for me?” Tammy sounded surprised.
“I have a daughter? I am…going to need to hear you say it out loud” Jason said and held her gaze for a while Just waiting for her to say it out loud.
“You have a daughter…yes, we have a daughter together”
Jason stood up and paced the room. He paced for a very long long time, he wanted to tire himself out. To make sure that when he spoke again that he didn’t explode and end up taking casualties.
“Jason, Stop pacing!”
“How could you do this to me?! How could you keep her from me, Tamara?! How dare you take my daughter away from me for nine years?!”
Tamara stood up too and she chuckled sadly.
“I don’t have time for this. I am only here because EJ insisted she wants to meet you and I have put it off for so long that the only logical thing was to get it over with. All you have to do is spend a day with her, ask her some questions and we will be gone from your life like you wanted” Tammy yelled and tried to walk out.
“How dare you! When you left without saying goodbye you wrecked me Tammy. I thought we were friends and you just up and disappeared on me and as if that is not hard enough, you took nine years of my daughter’s life away from me. You were supposed to be my best friend! You were supposed to think about me too!”
Jason was surprised when Tammy turned around and pushed him.
“Shut up! Were you thinking about me when you insisted I abort our baby, you hypocrite! I was nineteen, alone and pregnant!” She stared at him, ignoring the tears that fell down her cheeks.
“I was all alone and scared out of my mind, Jason! I thought you loved me but it turns out you were just a wuss…so, spare me the righteous nonsense. If you don’t want to see her, then fine…say it”
Jason looked ashen. He couldn’t speak for a whole minute.
“What are you talking about, Tamara? What abortion?”
Tamara sat down on the sofa, the way he was looking at her like she made the whole thing up made her even more angry. She hated it.
Hell! She hated him again, even when she spent a better part of two years forgiving him or at least she thought she did.
Tamara opened the bag she was holding and pulled out an old letter.
“Do you remember this?” She asked and gave the letter to him.
Jason was confused but he took the letter from her.
Dear Tamara,
I am sorry but I am too young to be a father and so, I want you to abort the pregnancy.
And for your troubles you and your family will be rewarded
Your Friend
Jensen Ekoh-Yagazie.
“Are you going to deny that you didn’t send that letter to me, ten years old?” Tammy demanded.
Jason rubbed his temple with his fingers in a futile attempt to alleviate the persistent throbbing pain there. Slowly, his hands moved from his temple down his neck, for a moment it felt like the lower his hand went, the persistent the pain was. It felt like the throbbing pain was actually following the direction of his hands.
“Who gave you this letter?”
“Jason you did” Tammy told him.
His expression darkened like he was suddenly reminded of something he was already angry about.
“My name was spelt wrong…I called you Tamara. When have I ever called you Tamara?” Jason asked and he waved the letter in the air.
Again with the throbbing pain.
For the past five minutes, his frustration had masked itself and presented like a throbbing pain in his temple. In as much as he wanted it to be stress or any other emotion, it was plain old fashioned anger. And it was threatening to erupt like a volcano, wreaking havoc on anyone on his part. But he needed a culprit. He needed a name from Tammy…Jason wanted the name of the person that delivered the letter.
“Who gave you this letter, Tammy?” Jason paused briefly before he continued “w-was it my mother?”
“Are you telling me that you did not write that letter, Jason?” Tammy asked him.
The Look in his eyes told her that he didn’t write the letter.
“I am asking for the name of the person that I am going to destroy. Was it my mother?” Tears pooled in his eyes “Tammy, was it my mother? I suspected her when you disappeared but I didn’t know…..I wasn’t sure. I need you to answer, did my mother ask you to kill my kid?!”
