My Crazy Rich Family : Running From My Psycho Father - Chapter 115
Chapter 115: having fun with the devil’s brother.
Mckenna stopped in front of the gate. She had no idea why she came there. She simply entered her car and drove like a mindless robot and boom! She was in front of this place of all the places in the world.
It didn’t make any sense. She thought about turning back but no matter how much she willed herself to put the car in reverse, her hands didn’t obey her and so, she sat there in her car, waiting.
Mckenna had no idea what or who she was waiting for, she just felt better sitting there in the car.
After a few minutes of awkwardly sitting in front of the house, she tried to leave but a knock on her glass window made her look up.
Great! It was Jackson Donna.
She rolled down her window and she stared at her father. Mckenna tried to come up with a lie but Jackson didn’t give her any chance to.
“Do you want to come inside the mansion instead of sitting out here all alone, kid?” Jackson’s voice was neutral and he didn’t seem surprised that the child that hated him was in front of his house.
“I should…” Mckenna wanted to tell him that she was about to leave but he was already heading back inside his house and ordering the gateman to open the gate for her.
Left with no other option, Mckenna drove inside and parked her car.
She got out and she followed Jackson to the swimming pool area behind his house.
“I really should go. I don’t want to impose on you or anything” Mckenna murmured but Jackson was already pulling out a chair for her to sit.
“If you want to go, you can go but if you stay, we will play a mean game of cards where you will be the loser and I will be the winner because I am the king of cards, your choice”
Jackson didn’t try to pressure her into anything.
Mckenna thought about it for a minute before she sat down.
“Okay but I am not letting you win”
Jackson Donna’s house keeper came around to meet them.
“Edna, can you bring a good bottle of wine for me and bring the cards too”
“Yes sir”
Even though Mckenna was looking forward to a good glass of wine. She was pregnant and wasn’t allowed to have one.
“Can I have juice instead? Thanks” Mckenna quickly added.
“Edna, have you met my daughter Mckenna?” Jackson introduced Mckenna to his housekeeper.
Mckenna found it awkward to be referred to as Jackson’s daughter by Jackson himself without a camera crew close by.
“Welcome Ms Donna” Edna told her politely.
“Actually, it’s Mrs Ekoh-Yagazie but thanks, it’s nice to meet you too”
When Edna left, Jackson watched his daughter keenly. He knew something was bothering her but does he have the right to make her tell him?
He wasn’t particularly there for her. He cleared his throat and took a chance.
“Is there trouble in paradise with Jason and this new woman?”
Mckenna exhaled. She shouldn’t be talking to Jackson Donna about her life, hell, she shouldn’t even be here in his house sitting in his seat.
“I..I am pregnant, Dad” Mckenna blurted out.
“Are you serious?” Jackson asked with a surprised face.
“I am sorry, I shouldn’t have told you that. I haven’t even told my husband yet or my mother in law…you should be the last person to know because you abandoned me and that kind of stuff…”
Mckenna was still blabbering when she heard Jackson’s throaty laughter, followed by a giggle she found very weird.
“Oh my God, I am going to be a grandpa…oh my God, sweetheart, that is great news. Don’t worry about Tamara Jones, Jason is yours and yours alone?!”
Jackson stood up and gave her a big kiss on her forehead.
Mckenna was taken aback.
“How do you know her name, Jackson? How do you know her name is Tamara Jones?” Mckenna asked him.
Jackson sat back down.
“Do you really think I would sit still and watch someone hurt my family without getting to know my enemy? Her name is Tamara Jones, 29, Single mother and lives in Seattle…”
Jackson was interrupted by Mckenna.
“What the hell, Jackson? Stay out of my life. You didn’t even want to be in it to begin with. Look at me! Tamara and Jason are off limits to you, do you understand?” Mckenna had a weird look on her face.
Jackson relaxed into his chair. He had a casual smile on his face like he was harmless.
Mckenna wasn’t fooled. She knew he was as deadly as they come and not even a smile can hide that.
“Of course”
“I am serious. No harm should come to them, especially Jason. If you hurt my husband, I will hurt you back Jackson Donna. Elixir will hunt you too!” Mckenna threatened him.
“I can handle Elixir, daughter”
“No, there will be no handling…” Mckenna’s voice trailed off as Edna approached and she dropped the tray of wine and cold juice on the table, and she left.
“I am…” Mckenna started again but her voice trailed off once again when Amazing and Max walked in.
“What’s up, Sis?” Max was happy to see her.
“Did something happen?” Amazing asked her.
“Hey, baby brother. Amazing, nothing happened” Mckenna replied.
“Are you sure because my eyes may be deceiving me but I think you are sitting with Dad…and drinking with him” Amazing said and sat down.
“Leave your sister alone, Amazing. We were just about to play cards” Jackson waved his daughter aside.
“Dad cheats, watch your back” Max advised his sister.
“How about we all play the game and when I beat all of you, I will be King of aces?” Jackson suggested.
“Sure! Be ready to be taken down, Dad!” Max told him.
Mckenna only accepted because she didn’t want to go home and see Jason’s lying face but with time, she even started enjoying herself.
Jackson and his children played the game for sometime and for a while Max was winning until Mckenna took the championship from him.
When Joan Donna walked inside and saw everyone playing a card game, she asked to be included even though she was half expecting Amazing or Mckenna to turn her down.
“Hey, Joan, are you ready to join our father in loser-villa?!” Max yelled excitedly as he pulled up a seat for his young step mother.
“Oh! Max, big mistake! Joanie is like the queen of hearts. Dude, you can’t beat her!” Amazing quickly chipped in as she laughed heartily.
Joan Donna didn’t fail to notice that Amazing called her by her nickname like she used to when they were best friends. She tried to suppress the smile that quickly spread like a virus to her face.
“She won’t be Queen of hearts anymore if I or Mckenna take her to loserville, will she?” Max countered.
“Care to put your money where your mouth is? Mckenna vs Joan, who will be the winner?” Amazing taunted her younger brother.
“Yeah, actually…I bet 10,000 naira” Max turned to his father “Dad place your bet…Joan or Mckenna!”
Jackson relaxed into his chair. He was feeling something. Something that was totally unfamiliar to him and alien even. Just sitting there watching his whole family sitting at the same table and having fun with him including Mckenna who was smiling widely now, Jackson felt…contented. He felt fulfilled and he had never felt like that before.
Before he was always reaching for something, always aspiring to have more than he had. But he could pause this moment and live there forever.
He smiled and exhaled.
“No. It wouldn’t be fair to both Joan or Mckenna since I am taking them to that place where losers lives” Jackson joined in the fun.
“Ooh! Savage!” Max yelled and the game started.
It went on for a while. Everyone trying to outsmart the other, Mckenna finally got to know why her mother in law always said that the Donnas were as cunning as the devil, nobody wanted to back down.
At the end, Jackson Donna defeated everyone and he stood up and started dancing.
“I win, suckers!” He yelled at his children and wife. Jackson even went ahead to do the latest dance which he strangely got perfectly.
Everyone hailed him and laughed.
“Is he always this competitive?” Mckenna asked no one in particular.
Max answered her.
“Yes, that is Dad. When I was eight, he took Maze and I to a football practice where he played against his eight year old son and a few years older daughter…naturally he won and then he made us make him a best footballer of the year trophy…”
“You are not serious!” Mckenna was both horrified and amused.
“Yes, he is. Max didn’t he make us call him the king of football for two months?” Amazing asked his brother.
“Yep!”
“Well, thank God he grew out of that phase!” Mckenna said and tried to stop laughing.
“Did he?” Joan asked them
