My Crazy Rich Family : Running From My Psycho Father - Chapter 90
Chapter 90: Kara has her first crush.
Kara didn’t see Liam again for the next few days. She didn’t want to ask Lucy about him but it didn’t stop her from looking around whenever they were in a cafferia for him, hoping he would pop up for a quick hello and how do you do.
After a week or so, she stopped looking for him until she got herself into detention for pulling Jane’s hair for picking on a smaller kid.
She tried to explain to her teacher that it wasn’t her fault but Mr Jones wouldn’t pay attention to her.
Now, she was sitting with three other students about her age in the detention room waiting for the two hours to be up, so she can finally go home.
Sometimes, she wished that her school was like a normal Nigerian school that punished students by Inflicting pain with canes but it wasn’t, since they had a firm policy against physical abuse.
“Hey”
Kara turned around to the voice behind her.
“Liam! What are you doing here?” She asked him.
“Apparently, nobody told me that not doing my homework two days in a row lands me in detention and with more homework. It’s so lame” Liam told her.
“Hmm…I like homework. If I am going to take over the empire from my father, I have to be extraordinary” Kara shrugged like it was no big deal.
She watched Liam closely now. His hair was shorter but the rest of him was still the same.
“You cut your hair”
“Yeah, do you like it now or the way it was before?” He asked her and ran his fingers through his hair.
“It looks good on you. You are Liam whether you have long hair or short” Kara answered truthfully.
“Lucy told me that you will be coming over to our house on Saturday. Would you like to play chess with me?” Liam asked her and left his seat to sit comfortably on Kara’s table.
“You play chess?” Kara was surprised.
“Yeah, I like chess. You sound surprised” Liam dimmed his eyes like he was compelling her to tell him the truth.
“I mean I am…for someone who hates homework, you should hate chess too since playing chess takes a lot of brain power” Kara wondered if she sounded too harsh.
“You don’t sound six years old, Kara” Liam observed curiously.
“I will be seven in three weeks. How old are you?”
“Turned eight years old, today actually” Liam answered.
“Happy birthday, Liam” Kara murmured. if she had known she would have gotten him a gift.
“Thank you. And I hate homework because I can, not because I can’t do it. I might not be as brilliant as you when it comes to school stuff but I am not a dummy either and I like chess. So, would you like me to teach you?” Liam asked her.
“Mr. Liam Hensley, please take a seat!” The teacher yelled his name from across the room where she sat.
“Liam, you will get into trouble. Just take a seat” Kara pulled his hand but he wouldn’t bulge.
“Let me teach you chess and I will sit down” Liam was adamant.
“Fine. But not this Saturday, I have dinner with my Aunt Queenie. It’s her birthday…so, maybe next week”
The teacher stood up from her seat angrily. Her glare directed at Liam.
“Take your seat, Mr. Hensley or you will have detention tomorrow”
Kara knew that Liam liked getting into trouble “Liam!” She whispered
“Of course” Liam sat down beside her.
“That is not the chair I assigned to you, Mr. Hensley” the teacher reminded him.
“Kara wants to help me with my math…may I please stay here?”
“Alright but you better be studying” the teacher finally relaxed back in her seat.
“You just lied to the teacher” Kara was surprised and horrified at the same time.
“Yeah.. because I wanted to sit with you. Can I have your phone number? I can teach chess over video call and you can teach me stuff too”
Kara nodded and gave her phone number to him. The rest of the detention flew right by as she talked with Liam.
When she went to the parking lot, Jason was waiting for her.
“Dad!” She ran to him and he picked her up.
Kara was surprised. Mckenna was the one who usually dropped her off at school and picked her up after school.
Jason has dropped her off a few times but this was the first time he was picking her up.
“What are you doing here, daddy?”
“I don’t know whether you’ve heard but my daughter attends school here and I am here to pick her up” Jason’s deep voice chuckled as he dropped her on the ground.
“Can we go for ice cream?” Kara asked as she opened the car door and entered.
“Sure thing, baby. Put on your seat belt, please”
Kara obeyed. They stopped for ice cream before going home.

She waited for Liam’s call when she was in her room doing her homework and she stared at her phone even when she was in the kitchen helping Mckenna.
“Are you expecting a call, sweetheart?” Mckenna noticed that she was distracted.
“Nope!” Kara placed her phone away immediately. She didn’t need her mother in her business especially when it has to do with a boy.
“Come with me to the living room. The designer sent some pictures for us to look at for the wedding” Mckenna carried the bowl of popcorn to the living room.
Kara followed her behind.
“Why are you and Dad getting married again?” She asked
Mckenna wondered what she was supposed to tell their daughter. Was she supposed to say that her parents got married by accident the first time?
Hell no! She was taking that information to the grave.
“Because we love each other so much” She answered as a reason instead.
Jason came down from the room to join them in the sitting room.
“Is dinner ready?” He asked his wife
“Not yet but we have popcorn and we have pictures for the little bride to pick her outfit from” Mckenna told her husband.
Jason sat down in the middle of them and his girls both leaned on him.
Mckenna took the remote and pressed play for the slide show to start.
“Wait, those are not dresses” Jason commented.
“Nope. Mom and I had a talk. She said I can wear anything as long as the color is white. So, I am going to wear pants and a shirt with white sneakers. ” Kara went back to staring at the screen.
Jason turned to Mckenna and whispered.
“Did you think this through? My mother is going to have a heart attack” Jason’s face looked like he was already imagining how it would happen.
“So will my grandmother. I finally invited her to the wedding. It was the right thing to do. I also invited the Donnas including Jackson. Don’t read too much into it” Mckenna told him in a pleading voice.
“Alright, I won’t” Jason kissed her hair and they went back to watching the screen.
“I like that one. I am going to look so spectacular in it!”
Kara pointed at it.
“It’s perfect, baby” Jason told her and Mckenna agreed with him.
“Yes, it is”
Kara wanted to say something when her phone started ringing. She stood up immediately.
“I will be in my room…. studying!”
She turned and she raced to her room.
Jason felt suspicious about the whole thing. He sat upright. He had a look on his face.
“What was that all about?” He asked his wife.
Mckenna smiled like it made sense all of a sudden.
“I think our daughter likes a boy. It all make sense now, why she borrowed my lip gloss or insisted that I iron her school uniform properly as if I don’t always do that” Mckenna laughed like it was the cutest thing in the whole world.
Jason on the other hand didn’t find it funny. He was upset.
“I am sorry but she seven years old. She is not allowed to like any boy that is not me until she is twenty five…make it thirty”
Mckenna rubbed his arm in a parallel motion.
It wasn’t amusing to realize that his little girl might be growing up soon. That she would have crushes and love interest, then she will become a teenager with an actual boyfriend. It was a lot for him to handle.
“It’s just puppy love, Jason. Someday, she will find someone as good as her father to spend the rest of her life with” Mckenna encouraged him.
“Hell no! I don’t want any boy that bears any resemblance to my character anywhere near my daughter. Until I met you, I was a chronic womanizer and billionaire playboy, is that what you want for Kara?” Jason asked his wife.
“Now that I think of it… no! We want someone better than you…Maybe a pastor” Mckenna teased him
Jason took out his phone and started searching his phone.
“What are you doing?” Mckenna asked him.
“Calling the Private investigator to get me all the information he can on whomever Kara thinks she like…hello, this is”
Mckenna took the phone from him and ended the call.
“We are not investigating our daughter’s crush, Jason”
