My Crazy Rich Family : Running From My Psycho Father - Chapter 94
Chapter 94: You get the idea
Slowly, he tried to touch her face. He had a calm come over him and just like that, he was in control of his emotions again.
When next Mckenna spoke, it was in a low voice.
“Because I need to know if you are still searching for another woman while you are married to me. I need to know because yesterday I thought I knew who you were and today, it turns out that I didn’t. So, are you still looking for her?”
Mckenna was unable to hide the jealousy in her voice and eyes.
“Yes” Jason answered truthfully.
It stung in places she didn’t know was even possible.
But what was she expecting from someone like Jason? Wait, did she think she was special enough for Jason Ekoh-Yagazie to give up the first woman he ever loved?
“Fuck you, Jason”
Mckenna pushed his chest.
Jason knew she was hurt. He tried to grab her hand but she pulled back.
“Fuck you!”
“What!” He screamed at her “you told me that I could keep looking for her. Mckenna, she disappeared. I woke up one day and she was gone…just like that. I just need to know what happened to her. Is that too much to ask of you? I love you, God knows I do but I have got to find her”
Mckenna felt the tears drop from her eyes.
“I am always going to compete with her, aren’t I?” Mckenna turned around to leave and she came face to face with Kara.
She was just standing there looking at her parents.
“Kara?” Mckenna called her name.
Kara turned and fled to her room.
“Kara?” Jason was horrified.
Mckenna wondered how long she was standing there watching them fight. This wasn’t the environment she wanted her child to grow up in.
She had been busy arguing about how Jason had made decisions about their children, yet she didn’t remember that Kara was in the house during their yelling match.
“Crap!” Mckenna murmured to herself.
“I will talk to her” Jason said and left to go to Kara’s room.
Jason knocked and waited for three seconds before he entered her room. Kara was lying on the bed and the blanket was covering her whole body.
“Kara…hey sweetheart”
Kara sat upright on the bed and stared at her father. “I am sorry I was eavesdropping. I didn’t mean to”
“It’s alright. Do you want to talk about what you saw?” Jason asked her and sat on her bed.
“Is Umma going to leave us again? I didn’t do anything, I swear!” Kara panicked.
The last time they had an argument, Umma ended up moving away and her father had a heart attack and it was her fault.
Maybe she did something without knowing that she did it.
“Hey, do you think…no, you didn’t do anything sweetheart. Parents fight sometimes and it has nothing to do with you” Jason reassured her.
“Is Mom going to leave again?” Kara wanted to be prepared just in case she did.
“No, your mother is not going anywhere without taking both of us with her” Jason answered with a smile.
“Do you promise?” Kara asked but she was looking at the door not at Jason.
Jason followed her gaze and found Mckenna standing by the door.
“I promise, Kara” Mckenna answered and moved closer to her. “I promise I am not going anywhere”
“Okay” Kara turned to look at Jason “Can I still come to the golf course with you, Dad?”
“Sure, baby”
Mckenna turned around and left the room. When Jason entered the room again, she was back to folding the clothes on the bed.
Jason leaned against the wall opposite from where she was.
“We need to talk about what just happened, Oma” Jason told her.
“There is nothing to talk about. You make all the decisions and I am just here like a piece of furniture you acquired without a say” Mckenna refused to look at him.
“Either you talk to me or you keep making snide remarks, Mckenna. You can’t have it both ways” Jason was getting pissed off again.
“I don’t know how else to say leave me alone, Jason. Just leave and let me have a moment of peace, Jesus Christ!” Mckenna said and entered the bathroom and locked the door.
Jason simply took his wallet and he left for the golf club with Kara.
When he got there, he expected to see his mother but he was surprised when Andrew Spencer emerged from nowhere.
“What are you doing here?” They both asked each other simultaneously.
“We are here to play ball with grandma” Kara answered. “Hello, Mr. Spencer”
“Hello, Kara. It turns out that I am here too to play golf with your grandma” Andrew told the little girl.
It slowly dawned on both of them that Elixir might have con them into spending a morning together.
“No, your mother didn’t just try to….no, not after what you did yesterday” Spencer said and pulled out his phone to dial Elixir’s number.
“Yeah, she didn’t. She knows how I feel about you” Jason said and called his mother but it went straight to voicemail.
“Daddy, grandma is calling…Hi Grandma, I am here with Dad and Mr. Spencer”
“Can I talk to Dad and Mr. Spencer, sweetheart?” Elixir asked Kara.
“Sure”
Kara handed the phone over to Jason.
“Hey, Mom. You are not here but Mr. Spencer is. What are you doing?” Jason asked Elixir.
“Yes, what are you doing, Elixir?” Andrew Spencer asked her too.
“Well, I thought both of you are kind of annoying me and making my life miserable. And so, both of you are going to change that and have a better relationship. Jason! You are my son but honey, you are insufferable at times. Spence, he is my only child. I need both of you to get along. Figure out a way to coexist together in my universe or I am going to make both of your lives miserable like you made mine. Okay! That sum’s it up. Have a great day. I love you both”
Elixir hung up.
Jason gave the phone back to his daughter and turned to face Spencer.
“Let’s play golf, old man”
“Come on, let’s teach you some manners”
They played each other for a while. Even ended up placing a bet. Andrew Spencer won three times out of five.
After a few hours of playing like their lives depended on it, they actually started to enjoy themselves. Andrew showed Jason some moves that he practice with Kara.
Time went back seamlessly until Jason checked the time and it was almost 4pm.
“Kara grab your bag honey. We have to go help mom cook for your friends”
Which was code for he needed to go home and fix his marriage.
Jason moved closer to Spencer, he was sweating just a little bit. Jason offered his hand to him for a handshake.
“Good game!”
“Thank you. And I should probably mention that I am going to propose to your mother” Spencer blurted out.
Jason blinked to refocus and recalibrate his once happy mind.
“What? You are kidding, right?” Jason asked him.
“No. I love her and she loves me too. I won’t wait a single moment longer to be happy…to make her happy. And I would like your blessing and your word that you won’t have me…kidnapped”
Jason was speechless. Wait! What was Andrew Spencer trying to tell him? He tried to wrap his mind around what they just told him and he suddenly felt a sinking feeling in his stomach and a little feeling of nausea like he was going to throw up.
“But if you marry her, you will…be..my.. stepfather?” Jason blurted out.
“Technically that would be true”
“Eww!” Jason said and touched his chest as he waited for the nausea to subside.
“Ok-ay, I was expecting a congratulations or attaboy but I guess, eww! Works too. Thanks” Spencer said and tried to walk away.
Jason shook his head and blinked. He was in shock but he needed to get over it. He needed to put his mother first
“Andrew wait!”
Spencer turned around to say something to him.
“I don’t really care about your opinion, Jason. When my wife, Diane and Daughter, Mary died…I thought I would be closed off from love. I pushed my sons away and filled my life with facts and business but then I met Elixir and I felt something for the very first time in very long lonely years, Jason. And…I am not going to give that up because you don’t like me. I won’t” Spencer was almost yelling.
Jason stared at him for a second or two before he spoke again.
“I was going to say goodluck. You are going to need it because after my father, I will be surprised Mom is ready to get married again….but I wish you luck” Jason told him and he was sincere.
“Thank you, Jason”
Spencer tried to walk away but Jason spoke again.
“And if you hurt my mother, I will…”
“Break my legs? Make me disappear? Make me regret ever coming to Nigeria? Right?” Spencer interrupted him by saying. “Do you want to add more?”
“No…I think you get the idea, Mr. Spencer”
