My Crazy Rich Family : Running From My Psycho Father - Chapter 99
Chapter 99: knocking on hell’s door 2
“Excuse me?” Mckenna murmured and blinked.
Maybe this was a joke, a very cruel joke because it couldn’t be real.
Because there was no way the girl that Jason spent years pinning for was standing in front of her door while she was wearing a wedding dress.
There was just no way, the universe couldn’t play that cruel game on her while her family was barely holding it together.
This was a game and she was going to tell this Tamara Jones wannabe to go and play the nasty game with some other family, because the Yagazie-Donna family has had enough drama.
Mckenna was interrupted by the fraud in front of her.
“Hi” Tammy murmured.
Mckenna watched her as she stood there looking tall and gorgeous. her age should fit the lost Tamara’s since she was older than her.
Mckenna’s attention was called to the child standing beside her. She looked to be about….
“Can I help you?” Mckenna stopped her mind from jumping into conclusion.
“Yeah. This is Jason Ekoh-Yagazie’s house, right? Or did I get the address wrong but this place looks familiar. Sorry, I am mumbling. Like I said earlier….I am Tammy”
Of course, you are. Mckenna yearned to scream. She blinked at her, she couldn’t believe her eyes. The same Tammy that Jason has been in love with for over ten years now was standing in front of her, Mckenna couldn’t deny it.
Tammy smiled warmly at the woman in front of her. She grabbed the little girl’s hand and pulled her forward.
“This is…”
The little girl stretched out her hand for a hand shake.
“Hello, my name is Elixir Jason Yagazie. I am here to see my dad…at last” The girl said and looked at her mother.
The brain had ways to protect itself from shock and in Mckenna’s case, it went to a song she used to sing when she was a kid. It was more like a lovely nursery rhyme.
Once I saw a little bird
Come hop, hop, hop;
So I cried, “Little bird,
Will you stop, stop, stop?”
And was going to the window
To say, “How do you do?”
But he shook his little tail,
And far away he flew.
Mckenna used to envy that bird when she was growing up. But she hasn’t envied that bird in a while now until this moment.
Mckenna wanted to fly away and never look back to the people telling her to stop.
“Can you help me with my zipper?” Mckenna asked Tammy and turned her back to her.
Tammy was taken aback. It wasn’t the reaction or the answer she was looking for.
“Who is at the door?” Elixir called out to Mckenna and moved closer to see for herself.
Even the great Elixir Yagazie looked like she saw a ghost too.
“Tamara Jones?” She called out to the girl she used to know.
“Mrs Elixir!” Tammy looked surprised, then she took a step back and then it happened in a twinkle of an eye.
Mckenna watched with a sense of dread as Tamara Jones flew into Elixir’s outstretched hands.
Mckenna knew that she desperately needed those wings to fly away…but that almost seemed impossible until she remembered that Jason had the sports car parked in the garage.
Mckenna knew it was the closest she would come to flying but she needed to get out of the constricting wedding dress first.
But she knew she wasn’t abandoning her family once again because things got tough.
No matter how much she willed herself to turn around and fly, she wasn’t leaving her husband or daughter behind. The best way was to deal with this mess head on.
“I need you to leave!” She surprised herself by saying. But they both ignored her.
Wait! Did she say it out loud or was she talking in her head again?
She was talking in her head.
“Grandma?” The little girl’s voice made Elixir pull away from Tammy.
“Is she…who is…” even Elixir was speechless.
“It’s a long story, Ms Elixir. Given the situation your son and I were in the last time you saw me, it’s really not a long story” Tammy said nervously.
“She is my granddaughter?” Elixir said as the realization dawned on her.
Mckenna kept watching as the walls start closing in on her. She really needed to get out of the wedding dress.
“Who is getting married?” Tammy asked while looking at Mckenna.
“Are you Queenie?” Tammy asked Mckenna.
“Am I Queenie?” Mckenna started laughing. She held her tummy and she laughed even louder.
“Am I Queenie? Am I Jason’s sister? The answer is no, Tammy. I am definitely not his sister” Mckenna said at last.
Elena held her hand and tried to lead her inside.
But something happened that made both of them stop walking.
Jason came down from where he was chilling, waiting for his wife to take off the wedding dress she was wearing.
He was hearing voices and laughter from the chill spot on the roof he was sitting on and so, he made his way down to meet the shock of the century.
“Elena, can I come inside…”
Jason froze.
“Hey, Jassy” Tammy waved at him.
Jason stood still and watched as the earth moved around.
He could hear the sound of his pounding heart as it accelerated like it was dancing to a beating of a fast drum.
It couldn’t be Tammy. He had looked for her for almost ten years.
The last time he saw her, he was twenty years old and she was nineteen. He was the son of the boss and she was the daughter of his former nanny.
They had been best friends since he was ten years old and Tammy’s mother showed up to be his nanny despite his objection, his mother went ahead and hired a nanny for him.
They became inseparable, they went through puberty together, attended the same school on Jason’s insistence.
They were best friends until everything went to hell on the eve of their high school dance.
They came back drunk and they ended up making love to each other in his bedroom upstairs.
Jason remembered what happened next as clear as day. His mother walked in on them followed by a scream and then Tammy’s mother came inside followed by the help.
And there was more screaming.
Tammy’s mother dragged her out of his bed even when he tried to hold on to her to prevent the slap that Tammy received from her mother but he best wasn’t good enough.
She was dragged outside wearing nothing more than the t-shirts his mother, Elixir covered her with and it was the last time he saw.
Tamara Jones disappeared into thin air for ten years and now? Now, someone that looked awfully like Tammy was calling him the nickname Tammy used to call him.
“Jassy, are you just going to stand there? Come and meet someone special” Tammy was smiling brightly and pulling the hand of a little girl close to her.
“She is mine, isn’t she? I am guessing around nine and a half years old” Jason asked Tammy.
He stared at the little girl. Her big brown eyes were his, her face was the younger version of his. They looked so alike that it was uncanny. He didn’t need a DNA test or anyone to state the obvious.
It was like there was an explosion of energy within Jason and he was suddenly drained.
“You had my kid?” He asked Tammy even though he already knew the answer.
“Hi Dad. My name is Elixir Jason Yagazie. Everyone calls me E.J”
The nine year old moved closer and showed him a picture. It was an old photograph of Tammy and Jason during their highschool.
“I am…I am…I can’t…I am” Jason realized too late that he was about to panic in front of everyone.
He vaguely heard Elixir call to the little girl to come to her and then she was asking Tammy to come inside too.
He saw the look on the face of his wife and then he panicked even more.
“1, 3,8,2,14” he kept repeating random numbers until his heart beat slowed down and he was back to himself.
Mckenna was still stuck in the wedding gown, seeing Jason panic oddly made her calm. If he was freaking out then it meant she couldn’t. It was just a rule. Couples were not allowed to freak out simultaneously.
“What do you want to do?” Elena asked her.
“Run….take the sports car in the garage and flee from here” Mckenna answered her best friend.
“Then let’s do it. Everyone will understand. You didn’t sign up for a second love child and an ex lover, Mckenna” Elena took her best friend’s side.
“No, I didn’t but I did sign up for forever with him and right now my forever is freaking out. My feelings don’t matter anymore…at least not now” Mckenna said and moved closer to him.
“Jason?”
Jason blinked and looked at her. He couldn’t hold his gaze.
“Jason, baby….you are alright. Come on, sweetheart…breath, okay” Mckenna urged him.
Jason started breathing through his mouth like Mckenna instructed.
“It’s…it’s Tammy” he said in-between his gasps for air.
“Don’t think about it? Just focus on breathing. Come on! Breathe in….hold…. breathe out. See, everything is just fine. We are just going to go inside and we are going to talk. That’s all, Jason”
Jason slowly came back to normal.
He looked at his wife and just to make sure he wasn’t hallucinating, he quickly told her.
“Mckenna, I have another daughter….with Tammy Jones!”
The only words that went through McKenna’s head at that moment was
(Shoot me now)
