- Chapter 153: My name is Ha Taeho. And I... (4)
Big Hina and Big Cecily looked down at their smaller selves.
Although they thought themselves to be cute and adorable, they were still weak children with low princess power and were unable to use magic.Yet, they were standing in this terrifying place for the sake of their family.
Big Hina and Big Cecily had to make a decision. They decided to leave this place in the care of the small children.Cecily spoke instead of Hina, who didn’t like talking much.
“Make sure to give Dad a big hug.”
At Cecily’s words, Hina hugged Judas even tighter. Small Cecily was still hesitating, so Big Cecily had no choice but to awkwardly scratch her nose.
“I was really quite a tsundere. Though it’s a bit weird for me to say this… haha. Hina, I’ll leave this place to you, the mage. I need to go catch that woman.”
Big Cecily decided to entrust this place to Big Hina.Since Big Cecily hadn’t learned any magic, staying here wouldn’t be of any help. And, just in case, she wanted to keep her distance from her younger self.
“I’m going to find Elle Cladeco. That woman, Molumolu, disappeared chasing after her. But since she has an important key, I’ll need to get some help.”
With those words, Big Cecily slipped out of Molumolu’s large tent.Feeling somewhat embarrassed by Big Cecily, small Cecily finally felt a wave of relief and took a deep breath out with a sigh.
“Get a grip, now…!”
Small Cecily also clung to Judas’s body.
Small Hina, small Cecily, and small Naru clung to his neck like cicadas, shaking him vigorously.
“Dad, you have to wake up…!””Dad, open your eyes…! If you don’t, I’ll bite your finger…!””…Hng, hng…”
“…You, Cecily?”
Brigitte carefully asked the woman emerging from between the black locks of Molumolu, cautiously as if fearing a feather might fly away if she breathed.
“Me?”
The woman owned a face so cold and haughty, yet so beautiful that even she, a woman herself, would unintentionally stare in awe.
Her attire clung tightly, leather armor typical of adventurers, yet her movements and gait were so graceful she did not seem the part.Soon, the tall Cecily replied.
“Correct. I’ve left the inside to the little ones. I plan to pursue Elle Cladeco now. No one has been paying attention to Elle Cladeco. But thinking it over, Elle Cladeco surely holds the key to resolving this situation.”
Brigitte’s face twitched as if to say ‘indeed’ to the tall Cecily’s words.
They had all failed to notice even the absence of Elle Cladeco, and even if they had, they wouldn’t have been able to spare a thought for her. They had to focus all their attention on taking down the Nocturne before them.
“Shall I help?”
Brigitte adjusted her staff as she spoke.
She felt an urge to give Elle Cladeco a good thrashing herself. And with Brigitte’s extensive experience in battling mages, she would certainly be of help. However, Cecily shook her head.
“It’s alright. I can handle it on my own.”
Her words were not born of arrogance or conceit. The tall Cecily knew her own strength very well and didn’t need any other help.
“Even if there were two Elle Cladecos, I could handle them alone.”
“…That strong!?”
Brigitte was genuinely surprised. Elle Cladeco might not be a combat-specialized mage but was a developer and researcher, yet still a great mage who had been bestowed a color.
For her to boast that she could win even against two of them was astonishing. But on second thought, it wasn’t impossible.
Cecily was the daughter of Judas and also of Cariote. A remarkable father and a remarkable mother had produced her, and with rigorous training and discipline, she would be incredibly powerful.
‘Is Naru not here? Naru didn’t come?’
Brigitte craned her neck slightly and scanned the surroundings. What would the grown Naru look like?
Out of curiosity, Brigitte looked around but still could not see the tall Naru.
“I will capture Cladeco, so please guard this place.”
“If you say so then…”
Brigitte looked at Molumolu with an awkward expression. Swish-. Just then, someone brushed past Brigitte’s side and stepped forward – it was a child who looked like a little princess. It was Tywin Cladeco.
“I’ll go too. I know where Mom is because… I can feel it.”
Cecily watched Tywin Cladeco, who had followed the children from the Junk Mansion to this place and her eyes twinkled slightly. After a few seconds, as the blue eyes that seemed lost in reminiscence or memories shimmered like the undulating sea, Cecily readily replied.
“Okay.”
Cecily thought Tywin was small and cute. The bigger Tywin didn’t have this small and adorable charm.
“Lead the way.”
At Big Cecily’s words, Tywin took the lead.Tywin’s lips quivered as if she had something to say, looking as unsure as someone who was bitten by a mosquito on the sole of their foot.
“If you want to say something, just say it.”
Cecily asked gently, as one would to children. Then Tywin couldn’t hold back and asked.
“…What about me at 25?”
Tywin knew better than anyone that she wouldn’t live to be 25. Her life was misaligned and very short.
However, after making a contract with Naru, Tywin’s life was significantly extended. As long as Naru lived, Tywin could continue to live as well. She couldn’t help but wonder what she would be like at 25. Despite trying to act grown-up in many ways, Tywin was still a child full of curiosity.
“You─.”
“No, I’d rather not hear it. Too much might change.”
Tywin shook her head vehemently.Cecily watched her and thought to herself, ‘She’s the same as she was when she was younger,’ and said nothing.
They explored the underground ruins together like that.
These ruins were an ancient place, seemingly at least a thousand years old. Stone walls and traps were installed everywhere, but Cecily skillfully manipulated the traps and disabled them all.
Then came a fork in the path.
“That way…”
Tywin Cladeco moved on with Cecily, following her senses through the complex and winding ancient structure. Finally, they arrived at some kindof vast cavity.
Pillars that seemed to be at least a hundred meters tall rose majestically.Glow stones were embedded like burning flames, and all sorts of images shone like hieroglyphics.
It depicted many gods imprisoning Nocturne and tearing his limbs apart to seal them across the world.Probably a painting that recorded an event from the past.
When they looked from the wall to the floor, they saw a magic circle. It was in a special ancient script that even Cecily could not recognize. The great Hina might have been able to read it, but unfortunately, she wasn’t there.Instead, Tywin said.
“This is a magic circle. A magic circle that can open doors. It opens doors to the world where the Demiurges live. When Nocturne was sealed, the gods from each world came through this door.”
“Oh really? It sounds familiar.”
In Freesia, there were quite a few magic circles connected to other worlds. The summoned Demiurges had defeated Nocturne together and were buried here in Freesia.
“But to activate this magic circle, an enormous amount of energy is needed. The kind that’s released when a person transcends… My mother… through transcendence, she tried to operate these gates to follow my father.”
“To love a man that much? Even if the world were to crumble, she didn’t care. Your mother, Elle Cladeco, was indeed a remarkable person.”
The older Cecily didn’t know much about romance.Being a princess of the SSR rank, she was like the moon or the sun floating high in the sky, never to be grasped by a man’s hand. And since Judas had laid down the strict rule of ‘You must not have a boyfriend until the age of 25,’ she couldn’t muster interest even if she wanted to.
“Mother… followed Molumolu. It’s clear she must have planned to cross into another dimension with Molumolu’s help. By any chance, was mother in the future?”
Tywin asked very cautiously.Because asking about the future was a kind of taboo.Cecily simply answered this question.
“She wasn’t there. Your mother disappeared from the world starting from this day. We sent people and even our mothers and ourselves went out to look for her, but she was nowhere to be found.”
When the older Cecily was six, Judas fell into a coma.
No method could wake him, so someone suggested, ‘Perhaps Elle Cladeco would know a way?’That was because she had been experimenting for years to awaken her real daughter ‘Tywin,’ who had been in a coma.
Sadly, there was no trace of Elle Cladeco to be found anywhere on the continent of Pangaea. But now, we might know what happened to her.
The older Cecily’s eyes now saw a solid stone door.It was so large and wide that even if two Cecilys combined, it would not be enough, and there was no apparent device or handle nearby to open it.
“Mother… Elle Cladeco is beyond this door. It’s a door that opens with a spell. Do you know the spell? Without it, such a door can never be opened.”
“I don’t know. Unlike Hina or Naru, I never really liked magic.”
Cecily shook her head. Then, lifting Tywin, she tucked her into her side, embracing her like a rugby player shielding the ball. After that, she ran toward the wall.
“Cecily Style- Cat over the wall!”
Swoosh—Cecily’s body seemed to glide through the stone wall that appeared to be at least one meter thick. Tywin was amazed by this incredible ability, which was more remarkable than magic, and gaped in awe.
Of course, that amazement did not last long.Beyond the stonewall was a very small room, emitting such a pure white light that it cast no shadows, a place that would naturally furrow one’s brows. There, Elle Cladeco and Molumolu were present.
“Come, quickly. Come here. Come this way…!”
—Grrrr…!
