My Destined Werewolf Mate - Chapter 155
“I like you! I…do have feelings for you!! It’s the first… time I have been drawn towards a person in such a way… that… I tend to go berserk whenever I find you sad! My heart is aching to see you cry! I wish I could scream it right before you!” Inside his mind, he was mumbling aloud but helplessly, he had to keep his mouth tight-lipped without uttering any remark.
“Mr. Czar, why did you stop?” She reciprocated again, staring at him in awe.
“I…I meant that… Ze-Zeus like you so much… And…I know…in your heart…you carry the same emotions too…” Trying to avert the topic, he sounded a bit restless, fidgeting on his own.
She lowered her eyes down and took a deep sigh of glum. “To be honest… I am still in love with him… And that’s what hurts me the most…” She mumbled bitterly in a deep voice. Her answer caused a sharp ache in his heart but holding a simper, he continued looking at her.
“I am not in a position to meddle in but…all I can say that…both of you are torturing yourselves. You should know, there are some people who don’t want their loved ones to be sad.” He whispered, averting his eyes from her, fidgeting his fingers as he indicated his emotions regarding her.
But she couldn’t understand his unrequited feelings and continued fretting her grimace for Zeus.
“I know about that. I…I must have caused a hard time for Clara too… But… I am wrecked by my own feelings… You know Mr. Czar, every time I…I try to imagine Zeus in that vicious werewolf form…I get chills over my body… I get terrified… I know…he is the one who didn’t even budge to sacrifice his life for me…but…I can’t forget the memories of that dark night embedded in my heart… Those…Those blazing eyes of the wolves who attacked our car… My parents…my brother…everyone was murdered by them… Hopefully…someday they would come for me too…
I… I am reminded of that painful memory vividly every time I try to think about him…And yet my heart shudders in fear with accepting my feelings towards a wolf… I know I may sound selfish this time…But…my fear of wolves had been stirred up again from the day when I saw him in that form… I…just can’t cope up with the painful memories anymore… Even the moments we got to spend with each other appear right before my eyes whenever I try to forget about them and…it’s shattering my heart…
I am running out of words to explain the pain that’s…too unbearable…” She clenched her skirt, sounding much distressed, lowering her gaze down towards the ground.
Czar continued glancing at her from his side view momentarily and took a deep sigh out. He scrunched his eyebrows and reciprocated in a rugged voice, “that’s why… I wanted to ease your pain a bit…”
His dubious response seemed a little startling for her as she quickly caught a glimpse at him. “Ease my pain?”
“Those blissful memories that both of you cherished once, are the reason of your suffering today. So…you can probably restart your life again if the memories are gone, right?” He swirled his pupils, sounding much sonorous.
“Wh-What?” Surprised at his extremely unexpected answer, Eva gulped her saliva and surged her pupils at him. “What d-do you mean?”
Czar straightened his back against the seat and crossed his arms over his chest before speaking. “Little duckling, don’t be surprised. Look, according to the law of the divinity… Someday everyone is always bound to loose something in their life which they have protected deep in their hearts. Sometimes, to protect ourselves…we gotta make the tough decision all alone.”
“Mr. Czar…what do you mean?”
“I can erase your memories, little duckling.” Sharply glancing wide in her eyes, his voice reverberated murky and dubious in that desolated night, amidst the sound of crickets.
“What?” Surging her dilated eyeballs in fear, she shrieked out aloud, looking much awe-struck.
“Relax, not your entire memories. But the ones you have with Zeus.”
“The memories I have with Zeus?”
“Since the first day, you met him… I can erase him from every corner of your memory and trust me, it will be all for your sake.” He asserted in a bold voice, holding a stern expression on his cast.
“Bu…But, why would you do that?” Gulping ardently, her inquiry sounded quite fervent as she glowered her face.
“Then do you wish to live forever with those burdensome memories?” A canny smirk escaped his lips as he shrugged his shoulders. “Little duckling, not everyone gets the chance to delete the memories that torments them. I am giving you the perfect option to restart your life leaving every painful recollection behind. You should grab the option without giving it a second thought.” He murmured, glancing at the endless dusky sky glistening with small stars.
She was awe-struck by his declaration which was evident from her startling eloquence. Gawking at him intensively, she inhaled a huff of breath while mumbling on her own, “will…will you erase…Zeus’s memories too?”
“No, I don’t have the power to do that. Only our celestial ancestors have the divine endowment to erase a werewolf’s memory which hasn’t happened to anyone within our pack for almost 1000 years. So, I believe, Zeus would have to live with these memories forever because that’s the only way he can cherish you forever.” He smirked, but somehow the smirk was filled with an unspeakable glum which she could discern.
“Then…won’t I be able to remember him ever again? Won’t I ever remind of him even if he comes in front of me? How is that possible?”
“You can trust my proposal and see it yourself, little duckling. Besides, humans are meant to be with humans. You shouldn’t defy your destiny anymore and live your life without any regrets. I think Zeus would want the same wish for you… So, do you accept it?” Shifting his shimmering dark eyes towards her, he murmured his query.
“Wa-Wait…I…I need some time to…think about it… It’s…It’s a very harsh decision for me to take…” She stuttered, fidgeting her fingers ardently.
“Alright,” holding a small chuckle on his grimace, Czar stood up from the bench and shoved his hands inside the pocket of his coat. “The great lunar eclipse is after 5 days and I will come for your answer on that day. I guess, 5 days will be able for you to think and make a proper choice. Then…see you soon, little duckling.” His voice sounded much deeper when he turned around to walk away from her.
“Wait!” Abruptly she sprang up from the seat and seemed very restless. “Mr. Czar, won’t I be able to remember you too? Will we go back to being strangers again?”
He halted, stopped for a moment holding a painful sour face. Softly he turned back towards her and tried to hide away his sadness faking a wide grin.
“I will delete every werewolf from your memory and yes, that includes me too. C’mon, remembering us would never bring you any good. You are a good woman and you deserve to be happy, rather than sticking up with us in all these messes. We are the cursed, bad guys… you must stay away from us, little duckling.” His smile was quite broad, but it couldn’t hide the sadness he was holding in.
Eva poignantly looked at him for a few seconds with a teary gaze, looking all numb. Trying to choke her tears in, she asked him in a husky voice, “wh-why are you helping me? Why are you still being kind to me?” She was confused, guilt-stricken from inside gawking at him anxiously.
Tossing a small sad simper, he lowered his eyes down and took a sharp breath intake before responding in a timid voice. “Some questions…don’t need an answer to define, little duckling. See ya…”
Walking away alone from her in gentle slow steps was quite hard for him. His heart was growing heavier as he could perceive her sharp, glum gaze on his back from behind but…he swore himself not to turn back. His resolve to free her from the painful memories was a pure sacrifice which was the least thing he could do to revive her happy life. But it would turn them back to strangers was a thought which was already breaking his heart apart.
After strolling away from a far distance from her, his feet halted and he fanned himself. Softly he rolled his arm inside the pocket and took out the dried tangerine peel he was still keeping along with himself. But today, it was quite grievous for him to gaze at it holding in his tears.
“You should throw it away, Czar. After all, you were never the part of her story… What’s the use of still holding on to it?
Damn, I never knew, I could ever grow feelings for a human who could ache my heart so badly… I guess…that’s the punishment I have to atone for the life for being a wicked wolf.
But why the fuck I am growing in to be a good guy?” A smirk escaped his trembling lips. A warm teardrop rolled down while he carefully put the peel back inside his pocket again.
