My Disciple Wants to Tease Me Every Day - Chapter 55
: Strange
After entering Shen City, Di Jiufeng tried to call the System again. This time, before a couple of seconds had passed, the System’s flustered voice sounded from the computer chip. “Honorable host, honorable host, how did you suddenly appear at the lost treasure lands? My little jiejie is still waiting at Gui Hun island.”
As it spoke, it fumbled through its computer chip and pulled out an emerald-green willow branch. “Honorable host, you disappeared all at once, and I was brought back with you. Luckily, my little jiejie has quick hands, and she gave the Bone-Casting Branch to me. She said you can eat the Bone-Casting Branch directly, it does not need any adjuvant.”
Di Jiufeng took the branch from the System space, playing with it in her hands.
“When you left the cave, were you on Gui Hun island?”
The System nodded its nonexistent head and spilled, “Yes, but the island was very safe, there weren’t any fiends or beasts, we found the Bone-Casting Branch very easily. We were going to return to find you, honorable host, but for some reason, you suddenly appeared at the lost treasure lands. I cannot be too far from you, so I was pulled along as well.
Honorable host, honorable host, is this an act of the Heavenly Way? Today is the day the lost treasure lands open, if we did not come, we would not be able to get in. Did the Heavenly Way send us here so a main plotline mission could begin?”
“Perhaps. What you said does make sense.”
Di Jiufeng could not think of a more fitting explanation for the time being. But she still felt that something was not quite right. She was missing something, something she should have known, something method of detecting her movements.
She pondered it strenuously for a while, but couldn’t quite catch the thread of that thought. She could only keep flying Shen City through the white fog.
When they neared the source of the sound, Di Jiufeng discovered that although only ten people could enter the lost treasure lands, the roiling crowd nearly flooded this wide area of land.
With a rough sweep of her gaze, Di Jiufeng discovered that most of these people could be divided into two groups: the left side was headed by Han Hai Pavilion, the right side by the Ji family. But this time, the Ji family head had not come. He had only sent a family attendant. Compared to Ming Cang, his grandeur was more than a few steps lower.
“Hey, old pal, why is Ji Xian-xiong not here today?” Seeing that family attendant, Ming Cang laughingly walked up to greet him.
His face full of wrinkles drooped down from above, his chin slightly lifted into an arrogant angle. “I heard that Ji little girl ran off again? Ai, I’ve told Ji Xian-xiong, you can’t spoil daughters too much, now see, she won’t even come home.”
“Don’t remind me, don’t remind me, the old master is furious over this exact thing!” The Ji family attendant shook his head and sighed, “That little ancestor, she doesn’t come home and she doesn’t reply to the old master’s summons, if her soul lamp wasn’t still lit, the old master would be going insane. This little ancestor, really… really…” He twisted his face in a tortured expression, his round head shaking like a drum.
Unfortunately, one rank higher could crush to death the one below. Even if the Ji family’s young mistress stirred the whole household into chaos, they could only grit their teeth and bear it.
The Ji family attendant lowered his head, wallowing in self-pity, and did not catch the flash of derision in Ming Cang’s eyes. Like he already knew everything, his mouth curled up into a barely-there slant, tugging an entirely unsympathetic fake smile onto his face. “If there is anything he needs, I entreat Ji Xian-xiong to speak up as soon as possible. We have known each other for so many years, this old man is honor-bound to assist.”
After sending away the Ji family attendant, Ming Cang shot a sideways look at the Ci Guang Temple standing behind the Ji family.
He turned away after only a single look, like it was only an unintentional glance.
Di Jiufeng eavesdropped from Shen City for a while, and determined that the Ji family would not suspect them for a good long while. After all, how difficult was it to find one single amnesiac in the boundless sea of humanity? And Ning Guang had made additional precautions.
After she eased her worries, she did not think about it anymore, and attached Shen City to Sui Ying’s sword tassel.
Before long, the crowds impatiently rushed into the lost treasure lands.
In comparison to the other secret realms, the lost treasure lands, apart from their appealing name, were not at all like a hidden paradise. The sky was overcast and grey. It stank of rotting mud, steeped in a dense and heavy aura of death. Even through Shen City’s thick barrier walls, every wisp of it creeped into Di Jiufeng’s nose.
Her head immediately began to spin. At the same time, a sharp pain came from within her soul.
It felt like she was being torn apart, then patched back together. A dense thicket of stabbing pains made Di Jiufeng’s back stretch taut. Cold sweat seeped from her forehead, all the blood in her face draining away like it was retreating in fright.
Thin huffs of pain flowed from her mouth.
Ning Guang caught her, her eyelashes trembling, panic and confusion difficult to hide. “A-Feng, you…”
“I’m alright,” she comforted, forcing herself to endure the pain. But in forcing a gentle tone into her voice, it ended up taking on a pitiful tremble.
Ning Guang looked at her. She couldn’t say what she was feeling, forlorn distress, guilt and self-reproach. She wanted to sink knives into her own flesh, but of all the emotions mixed together, the only thing missing was regret.
She would not regret, she would not let go. Even if they died together in the name of love, she would always stay by Di Jiufeng’s side.
“A-Feng, you… you should stab me a few times.” Turning her sword and placing the hilt in Di Jiufeng’s palm, Ning Guang wrapped her hands around hers, pressing the blade to her own arm.
Di Jiufeng forced a smile and let go, tossing the sword to the ground.
“I did this of my own will, what does it have to do with you? Don’t talk nonsense, think of a way to deal with Sui Ying, I will be alright in a bit.” Sucking in a deep breath, she leaned her whole weight on Ning Guang’s front. Though this flare-up had come quick and violent, after the pain passed, she felt a life force within her body.
It was a majestic yet somewhat explosive life force, dashing back and forth. It was trying to free itself from her soul, but did not manage to succeed before her soul pushed in back down.
Di Jiufeng furrowed her brow, and gathered up her spiritual energy.
But this force was rather slippery, and before her spiritual energy could get close, it dispersed on its own. Di Jiufeng came up empty-handed. She wanted to tell Ning Guang about it, but seeing her gloomy gaze, decided to leave it for now, not wanting to add to her worries.
“Ning Guang, I’m alright. Have you decided how you want to deal with Sui Ying? She has been enlightened, she is now an Early-Stage Deity Transformation cultivator. Can you handle her alone?”
Ning Guang nodded, her lips tightly pursed, unsuppressable irritation written in her tightly knit brows.
She quickly said, “Wait for me.” Then she shot to her feet and darted outside.
Because she had been enlightened, Sui Ying’s cultivation was not stable. Deity Transformation looked impressive, but the part she could really use was less than a tenth. Ning Guang’s ghostly cultivation was already superior, and now she even more had nothing to fear.
She flagrantly strolled out from Shen City, and while Sui Ying was still frozen, staring in shock, her ghostly energy swallowed her whole.
Sui Ying was arrogant and looked down on those common cultivators, so she had swept her sleeves and parted ways from them as soon as they stepped into the lost treasure lands. She thought her cultivation was high and none of those ants could harm her, but she never thought that she would be swallowed up by Ning Guang only this far in. She struggled with all her might, but the ghostly energy was like a maggot in the foot, not giving her any chance.
It pressed itself to her skin, darted into her flesh, mixed into hot blood, and galloped back to her heart in a surging torrent.
Sui Ying opened her jaw, four limbs frantically scrabbling in the ghostly energy. She even kicked off a shoe with a flailing leg, maintaining none of a cultivator’s aloof dignity, her face green with fury, the fear seeping up from the bottom of her heart making her open her eyes so wide they nearly fell out of their sockets. “My Shifu will never forgive you for this! Little viper, if you know what’s good for you, you will let me go this instant!”
Her mouth opened wide, and she howled hysterically. Her piercing shout was whittled away as it bounced through the ghostly energy, slowly fading away.
Sui Ying waited a while. Not seeing Ning Guang show any signs of giving in, the threat of death snatched her by the throat, rendering her unable to breathe. She trembled in panic, scrabbling at her throat with her fingernails, even peeling off some pieces of flesh.
Ning Guang would not let her out. In despair, Sui Ying poured her spiritual energy into the center of her forehead.
Her Shifu had left a spiritual awareness there. In a critical moment, it could save her life. But even as she frantically poured in spiritual energy, it was like the spiritual awareness was broken. No matter what she did, it would not react.
Now Sui Ying was panicking for real, cold sweat seeping from her forehead and dripping into her tangled hair. “Let me go, let me go! I didn’t want to take your life! I only wanted to teach you a lesson! And, I didn’t even succeed! Ning Guang, let me go! You cannot kill me! If you kill me, won’t you be haunted by mental demons?”
Ning Guang seemed to have heard, but also not. She looked off into the distance, brows furrowed into a mountain.
––Sui Ying wanted to activate the trace of spiritual sense and ask her Shifu to save her, of course Ning Guang knew about this. She tried to stop it, but she was too late. Sui Ying activated the trace of spiritual sense. However, Ming Cang’s spiritual imprint had not come to save her! It watched its disciple be backed into a corner, yet it did not do a thing!
Ning Guang did not think he was this type of person. Or else, he would not have done anything for his disciple on the arena platform.
Maybe he was not actually a mother hen, and just wanted to preserve Han Hai Pavilion’s face, but no matter the cause, Ming Cang had no reason to watch Sui Ying suffer danger.
Ning Guang stood for a while, and decided she might as well try to slaughter Sui Ying.
But before she could do anything, a person slowly walked out of the forest to the left.
It was a female cultivator from Ci Guang Sect. They had seen each other a couple of times, Ning Guang remembered this, but she did not want to pay any attention to her. She gave her a cold glance, then looked away and walked off.
But before she could get very far, that female cultivator caught up.
“Wait, I, I…” She hesitated for a while before she finally got her words straight, and said to Ning Guang, “I came to thank you. It was all because you returned my Shishu’s remnant imprint to me that my old Shifu could break through her heart demons, I…”
[T/N: Shishu = martial uncle]
“Is there anything else?” Ning Guang impatiently interrupted her.
The female cultivator shook her head. “Nothing else.”
Ning Guang strode off, walking so fast she left behind a blur. The female cultivator did not intend to keep her, but seeing something, her eyelashes trembled, and she chased behind her, her hand outstretched.
“Wait up, you, you, there’s something on you…”

Jiejie = sister, this does not always imply a literal family relationship in Chinese, can be flirty, you know the drill.
