My Disciple Wants to Tease Me Every Day - Chapter 69
: The Monk Steals the Core
Though Ning Guang was sure someone had done something to Di Jiufeng, at the moment, there was nothing apparently abnormal about her.
Di Jiufeng shook her head, and petted Ning Guang’s hair.
Things had happened so quickly, the city lord had not even been able to react. And now, the main culprit was already dead. He looked all around, unable to spot Qing Yu anywhere, and he grew a bit anxious. “M, may I interrupt you.” Though Ning Guang still had an ominous expression on her face, he was worried about his daughter, he didn’t have the time to care.
He asked, “If that mystic doctor was fake, then, then…”
Di Jiufeng interrupted him and said, “That one just now was fake, but the one who examined your daughter was real. She used spiritual energy back then, there was nothing strange. If I have not guessed wrong, she must have been switched on the way here. Go ahead and search for the body, it’s almost dark.”
After sending away the city lord, Di Jiufeng started to try and contact Qing Yu. At first, there was no response, until she finally heard back from Qing Yu an incense stick’s time later.
She was alright, she had just been knocked unconscious and thrown into the wilderness outside the city. She was currently heading to the fierce sea, she would be able to meet up with them soon.
After confirming Qing Yu’s safety, Di Jiufeng pulled Ning Guang over to the shore of the fierce sea.
Everyone was currently fishing for the body. After a few empty nets, the crowd finally exploded in a commotion. “We found it, we found it! This time, there’s no doubt.”
The city lord’s people surged over and opened the net wrapped around the body. Inside was what was clearly Lin Hao’s body. Because he had not been in the water for long, his body was preserved relatively well. Though it was bloated, there were only a few inconspicuous patches of rot. And all his clothing and accessories seemed complete.
Seeing that Lin Hao’s body was found, Di Jiufeng pulled Ning Guang in that direction.
Lin Hao was squatting by the body, pulling open its lapel. Because the body was swollen, the flesh was abnormally pale, and the once tight-fit loop of string seemed a bit small, digging into its neck.
Lin Hao let out a held breath and said, “Good, it’s not lost, I thought…”
Before he could finish, he was interrupted by Ning Guang. She said calmly, “The string is still there, but the item is not.”
“How is that possible?” Lin Hao didn’t believe it. He pulled with some force, opening its lapels a bit wider. At the end of the loop of string was a red woven pouch, much sturdier than the string it was threaded on, but with a tear at the bottom. It looked like it had been cut open by some blade.
Di Jiufeng pinched one of the broken threads to take a look and said in realization, “Someone took it? Does that person know something? Could it have been that demonic cultivator’s master?”
Ning Guang looked at her, nodded, then said, “It’s possible, but we cannot exclude the possibility that it was someone else. After all, if that person wanted to act, they didn’t need to wait until Lin Hao died.”
“That is true.”
Ning Guang sighed. “Forget it, let’s wait for Qing Yu to arrive then see. Since someone was masquerading as her, the scene from the previous body must also be fake.”
They placed the two bodies side-by-side. Before long, they saw Qing Yu panting her way over, her forehead covered in sweat, cheeks red from exertion. Qing Yu ran up to them and waved weakly, then bent over, hands on her knees, pulling in large gulps of air.
Di Jiufeng glanced down her nose at her, and passed over her handkerchief.
“Has all your cultivation gone into gaining weight? Just this far, and you’re panting like this?”
Qing Yu waved her hand, panted hard for a while, then finally managed to get out, “You don’t… know, that person hits… very hard, I’m still hurting now.” She pointed at the back of her neck and said, “She… threw me into the mountains, in order to… meet with you, I ran down… a whole mountain, don’t you know! And you’re judging me.”
Qing Yu was about to wilt in exhaustion. If not for this all-important friendship, she would have thrown up her hands and given up long ago.
She had run all the way here, and not only had she not been praised, Di Jiufeng had called her fat!
Qing Yu was heartbroken. She rubbed her waist, then said righteously, “You can call me stupid, but you can’t call me fat. How can we stay friends like this?! Forget it, don’t say anything, I’m going back to the yao realm!” Qing Yu was just ranting, and Di Jiufeng didn’t take her seriously. She looked at the damp handkerchief Qing Yu had returned to her, and silently retreated behind Ning Guang.
That look of barefaced annoyance, Qing Yu was going to explode. But just then, a bright-yellow stick person threw itself onto her leg, snot and tears flowing down its face.
“Little jiejie, you can’t go, what will I do if you go, I won’t be able to live on, waaahhhh….”
In a split second, Qing Yu lost all of her anger. Her eyes opened wide in fright, her entire frame shaking. “Jiufeng, Jiufeng, you’re my boss from now on, whatever you say goes, get this ugly thing away from me! God, my eyes are going blind!”
Qing Yu really couldn’t take it, having this shit-yellow thing sprawled on her leg. It was like she had gone a certain place without having a certain thing. Heavens! The aesthetic of a flower yao couldn’t handle this sort of thing!
“Hurry, get it away from me! My heavens! My eyes!”
Qing Yu’s waist wasn’t even sore anymore, she wasn’t panting anymore, the only thing left in her brain was how to scrape this ugly thing off of her.
Di Jiufeng watched her try to shake it off, but refused to call back the System. She huddled behind Ning Guang, only showing a pair of timid eyes. “You just said we’re not friends, even Ning Guang heard.”
Ning Guang took her hand, looking innocently into Qing Yu’s eyes. “I heard. So, why should A-Feng help you?”
Scoundrels plotting together! Jackals of the same tribe! Fog and mist of the same kind! Qing Yu was going to jump into the sky in range, trying to drown those two in insults. But none of it showed on her face. Her brows furrowed, and she said, utterly vexed, “I just ran myself nearly unconscious, how are we not friends? I’ll take it up with anyone who says that!”
Di Jiufeng gave her an indifferent hum and said, “That must not be what you’re actually thinking!”
“Who said that? If you don’t believe me, dig out its heart and see, I’d never lie to you of all people, I’m your most loyal companion.” Qing Yu raised her chin high, pointing at the System from afar.
––––Just sit and let this damn pair of women bully her?! There was someone on her side, though a bit ugly, but better than nothing!
Having been called on, the System looked dumbly back and forth. There was no need to choose, it immediately took out a little heart shape made of paper. “Honorable host, honorable host, look, little jiejie didn’t lie to you, my heart is red!”
Di Jiufeng had played around for a while, it was enough, so she peeled away the sticky System, pointed at the two bodies, and said, “Qing Yu, can you help and look? What did those two people experience before they died?”
Two soaked rotten corpses, it didn’t make a difference which one she looked at first. Qing Yu walked over, chose the body she didn’t recognize, and cast her spell.
“Before this person died, he was in a coffin. Looking at the surroundings, this coffin had been placed in an ice room, nothing strange, but the night pearls on the ceiling had been arranged in the shape of the Big Dipper. Then, he had been tossed into the sea. It was a woman, ordinary-looking, very ordinary-looking, the kind who you’d forget as soon as you looked away. Nothing else, just that much.”
As Qing Yu spoke, she didn’t stop, only moved the spell and pressed it to the center of Lin Hao’s forehead. She saw something, and furrowed her brows.
“A monk! Why is there a monk in the demon realm?!”
After she spoke, Qing Yu did not open her mouth again. Her brows were creased tight, and she was focused on watching the scene before Lin Hao’s death. She seemed to have watched it several times, taking a long time, but no one around her dared to make a sound and interrupt her. After an incense stick’s time, Qing Yu finally opened her eyes. She looked around, her brows twisted together, the serious tone of her voice making everyone straighten their backs. “Have you heard of Hui Kong?”
As soon as this name left her mouth, everyone held their breaths.
Hui Kong was the well-deserved number one of the Buddhist path. In order to prove that the demonic path was not necessarily evil, nor the righteous path necessarily good, he had entered the demonic realm and risen to the top. The time when he was alive could be said to be the most peaceful time of this cultivation world, all the shadows forced underground by this glorious sun.
Hui Kong was someone who truly held great wisdom and knowledge. He delivered all living creatures from suffering, not to cultivate, but out of true compassion.
He had never killed in his life. His most ferocious tactic was to purify others’ cultivation or alter their memories.
But for some reason, this sort of person had killed his own friend.
“Hui Kong, what about Hui Kong? Hasn’t he been dead for nearly two hundred years? Did he come back to life?” Asked the city lord.
“No, he has not come back to life.” Qing Yu shook her head and continued, “I am still not sure, I only saw that that person had Hui Kong’s lifelong spiritual device. You ought to know that after Hui Kong died, the members of his sect all suffered calamity, and nearly all his disciples died. Only the youngest one fell into a crack in space, and no one ever saw his body.
But the person I saw did not look like drawings of Hui Kong’s youngest disciple, so I am unsure whether this monk is Hui Kong’s disciple or his reincarnation.”
There were some things Qing Yu had not said, but Di Jiufeng and the others could guess. After all, she wouldn’t bring up a monk for no reason.
Qing Yu knew what they wanted. She brought up this monk, meaning that the ancient witch’s core had been taken by him.
But how did he know that Lin Hao had the ancient witch’s core? And how did he find a single corpse in the ocean?
Ning Guang could not understand, but the always clueless Di Jiufeng began to get an idea.
