My Disciple Wants to Tease Me Every Day - Chapter 78
: Little Girl
Ning Guang had a dark expression on her face. Some of it was fatigue, but more was confusion. Di Jiufeng saw, and rose to pull her to sit by the table. “How did it go, did creating Lin Hao’s body not go well?”
Ning Guang shook her head and handed the genealogical record to Di Jiufeng. “I think we’re really not the fated person. I forgot earlier, or else we could have asked the monk what this was.” Flipping open the first two pages, Di Jiufeng saw a clearly different type of paper inlaid in the book, about the thickness of four pages, the color much different too, folded neatly together. If they weren’t paying attention, they may have flipped right through.
Di Jiufeng opened the paper, finding that it was very soft to the touch, just like human skin.
It was a very unique texture. Di Jiufeng felt like she had touched this paper somewhere before. Pinching a corner of the paper, she thought carefully. Suddenly a scene flashed through her head, and her back went taut!
“Ning Guang, quick, take out the map to the witch tribe’s tomb.” She tugged on Ning Guang’s sleeve, her eyes burning like they were full of stars.
Ning Guang was a bit tired, but looking at her eyes, all the exhaustion in her body suddenly disappeared.
She pulled out the map to the witch tribe’s tomb and handed it to Di Jiufeng, sneakily running her fingers over her palm. “Have you thought of something? To make you so happy?”
Di Jiufeng stroked her cheek, grinning, and said, “Of course I have, something very very important, do you want to know? If you want to know, then beg.”
Ning Guang smiled and cooperated, “I beg you, I beg you, however you want. What if I let you switch things up in the future?”
Ning Guang stretched out the last few words, the insinuation in her voice making Di Jiufeng’s face go red. She paused, before weakly letting out, “Then swear an oath that you’ll always let me do as I wish in the future.”
Ning Guang’s indulgence of her never had a bottom line. It was only an oath, it was no trouble.
After she made Di Jiufeng happy, she saw her slowly spread open the map to the witch tribe’s tomb and place it below the white paper. A gentle light flashed, and the two pieces of paper made from the same material melded together.
Seeing this, Di Jiufeng was a bit shocked. Before, she only thought that these two pieces of paper were made of the same material and were about the same size, so she wanted to put them together to compare. She never expected that they actually combined to make a whole!
As the two pieces of paper melded together, the map to the witch tribe’s tomb slowly appeared on the upper layer of paper.
It seemed no different from the original at first, but looking closely, there were many more lines, squiggling back and forth, pointing from the entrance all the way to the center of the northwest mountains. Di Jiufeng looked again and said, a bit unsure, “Ning Guang, where do you think this path leads?”
Ning Guang picked up the map and looked carefully, shook her head, and said, “I can’t tell.” She paused, then continued, “Forget this for now, I can’t even tell where the places on this map are supposed to be. I have looked at a map of the entire cultivation world before, there doesn’t seem to be any one place which matches with this.”
“Really?” Di Jiufeng furrowed her brow.
She called the System. When it appeared, she pointed at the map and asked it, “Can you find where this is? How can we get there?”
The System pulled out the complete map in the program storage and compared the two.
“This place doesn’t appear to be on the cultivation mainland. Perhaps it’s in a secret realm, or one of the small chiliocosms – those places are not marked on my map, I have no way to be sure.”
“Okay, go play with Qing Yu.”
After chasing away the System, Di Jiufeng said to Ning Guang, “If we can’t find it for now, then don’t worry about it. Since we found this map in the Lin family’s genealogical records, perhaps the Lin family will have some clues? We have recovered the core, so we have no reason to stay in Tianyun city. Should we leave today? We can go tell Lin Hao in a bit, what do you think?”
“Alright, that will save us extra time on the road.”
After finalizing their plans with Ning Guang, Di Jiufeng went to knock on Lin Hao’s door. Because he wanted to investigate the circumstances behind his grandfather’s death, he had no objections to setting out for Duotian City directly. But, he was missing A-Qiao. He asked for an extra hour, and sent a communication talisman carefully explaining what had happened to A-Qiao, then gathered his things and set off with them.
Duotian City was the largest city of the demon realm. Its perimeters were at least three times as large as Tianyun City. Because he wanted to come here to investigate, Lin Hao had already done a good amount of research on Duotian City.
It was a thousand-year-old city, and many powers held territory here. Of these, there were three most famous ones: Jiuyou Hall, Jishen Pagoda, and the Lin family.
As the largest aristocratic family of the demon realm, though the Lin family was famous, it was also mysterious and frightening. At the very least, even using A-Qiao’s power to advance his investigation, the information Lin Hao was able to find was very limited.
He only knew that the Lin family had recently changed heads, and that the new family head was a frail little girl not even a hundred years old.
The Lin family produced geniuses generation after generation. Why would it let a little girl become the family head? And, her cultivation was not very high, and her body was frighteningly weak. Just according to the information Lin Hao was able to acquire, this little girl spent at least twenty days out of the month lying in her boudoir.
Lin Hao could not figure it out, and the others who had just come to the demon realm for the first time couldn’t know what was so strange.
They went over some basic information, but did not say much more.
No matter how far Duotian City was, as long as they hastened on for several days, they would eventually arrive. One day, dawn had just begun to break when Di Jiufeng saw the dark ancient city towering far away in the morning fog, overbearingly grand.
When she saw this city, Di Jiufeng had a strange sort of feeling, like the wheels of fate had come back around, and a giant net lying in wait was finally beginning to close.
Di Jiufeng paused, a faint wisp of hesitation in her eyes as she looked towards the city.
Ning Guang: “A-Feng, what is it?”
Qing Yu: “Do you not want to go to the city?”
Di Jiufeng was very clearly acting strange, the other three had all noticed. Ning Guang thought, then suddenly tugged her arm and started walking back. “Let’s go back, back to Zhangjian Sect.”
“Back to Zhangjian Sect?! Are you insane?” Di Jiufeng followed her for a few steps, and the strange feeling in her heart disappeared without a trace. She yanked her arm back, pulling Ning Guang with her. “Stop this nonsense. We finally got to Duotian City, how can we go back now?”
Ning Guang said, a bit worried, “But you don’t like this place.”
Di Jiufeng couldn’t resist a smile. Her hand slid down, entwining their fingers. “If I don’t like it, you won’t even enter the city? If I said I don’t like you, what would you do?”
Ning Guang said earnestly, “Nothing. I would change into someone you like.”
Qing Yu had walked a few steps forward, wanting to comfort Di Jiufeng, but hearing this, she silently pulled her foot back. She even reached out to pull Lin Hao, unaware he was being a third wheel, behind her. She really shouldn’t have left the yao realm, and she shouldn’t have stuck with this damn pair of women. No comfort could cure the injury to her heart!
Though she both admired and envied them, Qing Yu was happy for them in the end.
Looking at this pair of lovers leaning on each other, a harmonious and sweet atmosphere like even the wind couldn’t come between them, Qing Yu suddenly had the urge to find someone to spend her life with. She thought it would be nice to have someone by her side, someone to know her ups and downs, someone to see her joys and sorrows.
But after a while, she abandoned this urge. In truth, in this world, there was only one Ning Guang and only one Di Jiufeng. In this cold cultivation world, it was truly too hard to find a love like theirs, indulgent of each other and advancing and retreating in step.
Qing Yu had some mixed emotions, but in the end, she didn’t disturb them.
She stood silently to the side.
Di Jiufeng and Ning Guang did have some sense of propriety, and after oppressing Qing Yu for a while, they walked over, hand in hand.
“Let’s go to the city.” Di Jiufeng poked Qing Yu’s arm.
Qing Yu gave them a look. She was going to give them a piece of her mind, but Di Jiufeng turned away right away, and Ning Guang’s eyes never left Di Jiufeng’s face the whole time.
Pah pah pah! She’s going back to the yao realm right now! No one can stop her!
Qing Yu swished her sleeves and stomped off towards the city. Di Jiufeng, confused, turned to look at Lin Hao, only to see that he had already pulled out a communication talisman and was talking to A-Qiao in a soft voice.
Her teammate had suddenly become so strange, she didn’t know what had happened.
Duotian City was very large, and the black sandstone gates were especially imposing. As soon as Di Jiufeng stepped inside the gates, she felt surrounded by a heavy aura. After they passed the gates, Di Jiufeng saw a wide road spread out before her, rows upon rows of vendors standing to both sides, the wide limestone-tile road filled by the crowds.
Di Jiufeng began to like this flourishing and lively city.
She did not dart into the street, but squeezed Ning Guang’s arm even tighter, like she was trying to melt into her. “There’s so many people, hold on tight.” She lifted her chin, and the bright sun reflected off her eyes like glints of gold leaping on the surface of a lake.
Ning Guang’s heart thumped, and her expression grew even more gentle. “I’m holding tight, no one can take you away from my side.” In a foreign land, she had gotten even more brazen. Ning Guang’s heart was full of ripples, she leaned down and kissed Di Jiufeng’s forehead.
Di Jiufeng did not hide, just looked all around, her cheeks slowly burning red. “Can you get to work, go ask where the Lin family is.”
She pushed Ning Guang forwards. Di Jiufeng was too embarrassed, she had to hide her face in Ning Guang’s arm.
She wasn’t looking where they were going, and Ning Guang had all her attention on her, so they did not notice when a large group of people walked out from a booth in front of them.
Di Jiufeng wasn’t able to stop, and collided with them head-on.
“Ah.” A thin and weak cry of alarm.
Di Jiufeng hurriedly looked up, wanting to apologize to the little girl she had run into, when the previously calm demonic energy in her body suddenly exploded. In that second, a tearing pain rushed from the depths of her soul, and she couldn’t say a word before her face went pale and she collapsed to the ground.

Ning Guang: Actually, I don’t need to change, my Shifu only likes me no matter how I am!

From the Digital Dictionary of Buddhism (http://www.buddhism-dict.net/): Mt. Sumeru and its seven surrounding continents, eight seas and ring of iron mountains form one small world 小世界; 1,000 of these form a small chiliocosm 小千世界; 1,000 of these small chiliocosms form a medium chiliocosm 中千世界; a thousand of these form a great chiliocosm 大千世界, which thus consists of 1,000,000,000 small worlds. The 三千 indicates the above three kinds of thousands, therefore 三千大千世界 is the same as 大千世界, which is one Buddha-world. Also see 一大三千世界. [Charles Muller; source(s): Soothill, Nakamura]
九幽, jiu3 you1, can be roughly translated as the “nine mysteries”, referring to how the lowest realms and the highest (immortal) realms mirror each other, as there are nine layers of the heavens and nine layers of the earth.
祭神, ji4 shen2, means “to sacrifice to the gods”.
