My Disciple Wants to Tease Me Every Day - Chapter 90
Ever since ancient times, after marriage, the bride’s position would only go straight down, this was what Di Jiufeng believed. Because, they hadn’t even gotten married yet and she couldn’t find Ning Guang anywhere! Damn it, so what if she couldn’t find her, but all of Ning Guang’s trusted aides were blocking her at every turn, refusing to let her look! They’d all been ruined by corruption, she was going to chop up Ning Guang with a knife, then run away from home!
Di Jiufeng was going to ascend to the heavens out of anger, but she held it in and refused to threaten to break up! Demon women wouldn’t admit defeat, she hadn’t even managed to flip her yet, how could she let Ning Guang go just like that?
Di Jiufeng sat cross-legged on the bed, inwardly growing angrier and angrier.
After she had ran through all her complaints several times, Ning Guang finally slunk into the room in the dark, cold from the outside air.
Di Jiufeng’s eyes instantly lit up and she gave her a suspicious look. “Where did you go? I haven’t seen you in days.”
“I went to the mortal world… en, there were some things I needed to do. And, I came back every night, but you were never waiting for me, you were always meditating by yourself.”
Aiyah, how reasonable! Who was it that made her so mad that if she wasn’t meditating, she would have ascended on the spot?! But she’s pushed off all the responsibility with a single hand, what a skillful maneuver!
Di Jiufeng stood on the bed, stuck her hands on her hips, and jeered, “I just didn’t want to wait for you. Get out, I don’t want to see you!”
With the added height of the bed, Di Jiufeng felt like she was high enough to wreak havoc in the heavens. She thought she was quite impressive, so she sneakily glanced at Ning Guang out of the corner of her eye. She wasn’t serious about chasing her out, but she was serious about wanting an explanation.
But maybe Ning Guang really didn’t want to live. She started for a moment, then took over the thread of conversation. “Then I’ll go out, you should rest.” She didn’t hesitate a moment before she turned and ran. Before Di Jiufeng could react and chase after her, Ning Guang had already closed the door!
Di Jiufeng stood behind the door, her emotions difficult to describe.
She was only throwing a tantrum earlier, but now she really suspected that Ning Guang was fooling around with some bitch! Di Jiufeng was in a terrible mood, so terrible that she just stood in the doorway all night. But no matter what, Di Jiufeng would not believe that Ning Guang was doing something bad. She just didn’t understand, what did Ning Guang have to hide from her?
The more she thought about it, the angrier she got. Di Jiufeng tugged on the tablecloth, balling it into a giant clump as if she was afraid others wouldn’t be able to see.
She strutted out the door, making a show of it, like she was about to start announcing her presence. Di Jiufeng was being so ostentatious just to draw Ning Guang’s attention. Just as she expected, she hurried over.
“Where are you going?” Ning Guang put a hand on her shoulder, her expression a bit panicked.
Di Jiufeng gave her an arrogant glance and said, hiding her soft interior with an aloof tone, “Can’t you see? I’m running away from home!”
[T/N: 傲娇 is literally the loanword version of ‘tsundere’… “said tsundere-ly”…]
“What are you running away for, didn’t you see the people I sent to your room?”
Di Jiufeng started and shook her head, confused.
“Nonsense, hurry back.” She pushed her a few steps, thought, then decided to just grab her by the waist and sling her over her shoulder. “Be good, don’t fuss just for today, in the future, you can do whatever you want.” Ning Guang was in a hurry, and after taking only a few steps, she used a distance-shrinking spell to send her straight to her door, only to see a crowd in absolute chaos and panic, talking about someone who had disappeared.
“She’s right here, hurry up, don’t be late.” Ning Guang set Di Jiufeng down before the dressing table. She found that after the few minutes she had been out, her room looked entirely different.
Everything was draped in red gauze and brocade silk, calligraphy of the character 喜 was hanging on the door, and countless maids and marriage ladies from the mortal world holding a phoenix headdress and red cloak were surrounding the dressing table.
[T/N: 喜 (lit. ‘joy’) calligraphy is used for marriages.]
Di Jiufeng seemed to have understood something, and her face burned red. “You were busy with this all this time?”
“Yes, I wanted to give you a nice surprise.”
Di Jiufeng was ashamed into anger. “How is this a nice surprise, I was terrified!”
Ning Guang laughed lowly. “What does it matter if you were terrified or not? Either way, you don’t have a chance to regret it anymore. Go change, I’ll be waiting.”
The dressing process before getting married was very intricate and complex, but Di Jiufeng didn’t feel impatient at all. Joy simmered and overflowed from the bottom of her heart like she was swimming in a jar of honey, the sweetness making it so that she couldn’t help but smile.
Phoenix headdress and red cloak, gold hairpins inlaid with red, and ten miles of red train stretching from her chambers all the way to the ancestral hall.
Her face was covered with a red veil and she steadily walked onwards, step by step. She couldn’t see outside, but she did not panic. As if they had a telepathic connection, as she stood there, she was sure that Ning Guang would come to meet her.
The witch tribe was not large, so she didn’t need a palanquin with eight carriers. She only needed to take a few steps before she could take hold of Ning Guang’s hands.
It was a very standard ceremony. They stepped over a brazier of fire, bowed to the heavens and earth, and wrote their own names in the tribe’s genealogical records. They didn’t have a noisy banquet. After all, knowing who the ancient witch was, no one was brave enough to try and get her drunk. Ning Guang was very casual, and only gave a single round of toasts before they returned to the bridal chamber.
In this moment, the person who wouldn’t lose her cool even if the sky collapsed right before her, was a bit afraid to push open the door.
Her palms were slick, covered with warm sweat from excess emotion. Ning Guang rubbed her chest, her heart was beating very fast, a warm swelling emotion filling her from the inside.
Ning Guang sucked in a deep breath, before she pushed open the door with a slightly trembling hand. She saw the room full of red candles, filling the space with a flickering orange light.
Step by step, she walked slowly and nervously to Di Jiufeng. Her hands were also twisted together, her knuckles going white.
“A-Feng.” Ning Guang lifted her veil, linked their arms, and downed the cup of nuptial wine.
Di Jiufeng reached out a stiff arm, her eyes open wide. “What are you doing? Are you nervous?” Di Jiufeng’s voice was trembling a bit, but she still made an overt challenge to Ning Guang’s temper.
Ning Guang was used to her poking at her from time to time and did not reply, only tilting her head down to press a kiss to her lips. The strong taste of wine spread in through her lips, down the nimble tip of her tongue, and all the way up, setting all the air in the room on fire.
