My Disciple Wants to Tease Me Every Day - Chapter 91
After she sent Di Jiufeng’s soul back to the past, Gu Yunlu placed the two soulless bodies side by side.
She looked at Ning Guang, currently merging with the ancient witch’s true body, and a faint smile appeared on her lips. “They’ve exhausted their use, I’m sure you won’t take offense.”
She took out the second body and placed it on Di Jiufeng’s dantian. Then, she pressed her own hand to Ning Guang’s body. She made a seal with her empty hand, and with a bright flash of light, Gu Yunlu collapsed to the ground.
She entered Ning Guang’s body, and at the same time, let Lin Yunyou gain the body she herself wanted and recover her consciousness.
Gu Yunlu did not have a lot of time. She had ten days at least, or a month at most, before Di Jiufeng would have changed the future and returned. Then, she would probably no longer exist in this world.
Gu Yunlu didn’t really care how long she would live, she only wished for Lin Yunyou to look at her in her last remaining time. This wasn’t an unattainable goal, after all, she already had Ning Guang’s body.
After settling the ancient witch fully merged with her original body, Gu Yunlu took Lin Yunyou back to Duotian City.
She bought a medium-sized courtyard there, hidden within the city. Because she had recovered her consciousness and Di Jiufeng had a good foundation, Lin Yunyou woke that very evening. The last thing she remembered was her stealing Di Jiufeng’s body.
So she had succeeded? Lin Yunyou was extremely excited, so much so that she ignored the sudden break in her memories.
She wanted to crawl out of bed immediately and go find Ning Guang, but right then, someone pushed open the door.
“Yun… A-Feng.” Gu Yunlu stood in the doorway in a patch of moonlight, the warm candlelight from the room casting her face in a gentle glow. She looked at the familiar yet strange person before her, and the name which had spiraled countless times through her heart nearly left her mouth, but she bit it down and stiffly changed her appellation. “You’re finally awake, you scared me to death.”
Her fingers clenched down on the door, before she could start quickly walking over.
Lin Yunyou looked at her eagerly, twin flames burning in her bright eyes. “I am alright. Ning Guang, I am alright.” She jumped out of bed at a near urgent speed, stumbling over to hug Ning Guang’s waist.
With her arms filled with this soft body, Gu Yunlu couldn’t say what she felt. She had imagined this scene countless times, but she had spent a lifetime without achieving it. Until now, until she had switched a body, and the person who used to be towering in the clouds, high and unattainable, finally stepped off the altar and threw herself into her arms.
She should be happy. At least, her hands reflexively went up to hold Lin Yunyou tight.
But for some reason, the hole in her heart could not be filled.
“…What are you running for, you didn’t even put your shoes on.” She scooped her up easily and slowly set her on the bed, then knelt down like she was accepting an order, squeezing tiny her bound feet. “It’s so cold, and you’re not even lying down.”
Lin Yunyou giggled, twin clouds of red on her cheeks. “I just like you too much, when I see you, I can’t resist wanting to go to your side. Ning Guang, do you like me that much? Will you ever leave me?”
“I will not, how could I leave you? I cannot leave you.”
Lin Yunyou’s eyes sparkled. She leaned down and cupped Ning Guang’s face in her hands. “Then don’t call my name, just call me wife. I actually don’t like my name at all.”
Gu Yunlu gave her a look and indulgently covered her hands with her own. “Okay, wife…”
Perhaps because the time she had left was so short, Gu Yunlu would give her life to treat Lin Yunyou well. Everything Lin Yunyou wanted, and that she could give, she presented to her without reserve. Sometimes, she felt discontent with things being this way, but seeing Lin Yunyou’s smiling face, hearing her soft voice filled with joy, Gu Yunlu felt that nothing else mattered anymore.
She wanted to be good to Lin Yunyou, and she could only be good to her.
She counted the days on her fingers one by one. On the tenth day, Lin Yunyou suddenly ran outside, saying she wanted to give her a surprise. Gu Yunlu wanted to spend every second looking at her, but in order to fulfill her playful urges, she obediently stayed inside. She waited for most of the day, and when the sun sank over the western mountains, Lin Yunyou finally returned, treading through twilight.
Di Jiufeng’s skin was truly exceedingly beautiful. When the orange-red splendor was cast over her body, it was like the last stroke painting the eyes on a dragon, pulling her beauty out of mortal bounds.
But Gu Yunlu didn’t see any of that. The one before her eyes was always that timid yet somewhat unbalanced Lin Yunyou.
No matter how she changed, even if she turned into an ant, she was confident she could recognize her.
“Why did you come back so late? I was about to go look for you.” The moment she saw her, Gu Yunlu eagerly rushed to welcome her. When she got close, she discovered that Lin Yunyou’s face was somewhat paler than usual. “What is it, are you tired?” Gu Yunlu’s brow furrowed, and she stroked the side of her forehead in worry.
There was a thin layer of sweat on her skin, shockingly cold.
“Don’t scare me, how could…”
“It’s nothing.” Lin Yunyou coldly cut her off, and finally raised her lowered head.
The sunset cast her in a warm glow, but none of it penetrated the thick layer of ice freezing over her dark eyes. “I met someone today, do you know who it was?” She firmly and ruthlessly shook off Gu Yunlu’s hand, then moved away a few steps, annoyed, slowly moving her hand to the side of her waist.
A sword was pinned there, a sword she had never removed from her qiankun pouch when she went out.
“Who did you see?” A silhouette of something appeared in Gu Yunlu’s mind, she thought she may have been exposed. But at a time like this, not only did the panic and disorientation she had expected not arrive, she even felt at peace, like all the dust had settled. She slowly raised her head, a neat smile on her lips. “Who did you see? The ancient witch? Then no, you were not mistaken.”
“Ah, you have the face to say it!” Lin Yunyou sneered, her sword shooting from its sheath. “Gu Yunlu! Did you have fun tricking me like this?”
[T/N: 有意思 can be both “to be interesting/enjoyable” and “to be meaningful”, so this line can also be parsed like “was there any meaning in tricking me like this”.]
“Then did you have fun tricking Ning Guang?” For once, Gu Yunlu didn’t go along with Lin Yunyou.
She reached out, trying to touch Lin Yunyou’s cheek, but the other dodged away. The corner of her mouth sank down. Gu Yunlu did not force her, just pressed a bit closer. “If I wasn’t in her skin, how could she have treated you this well? How many years has it been, you still don’t understand? Your savior never looked back at you. Yunyou, you should give up, okay?”
As she spoke, she tried to take Lin Yunyou’s hand again.
But this time, not only did Lin Yunyou dodge, she even raised her sword. “I thought everyone would trick me, but never you. I was wrong, I misread you!”
“So whatever you want goes? Why don’t you just kill me to calm your anger?”
“You… you really think I’m too afraid to kill you?” Seeing that arc at the corner of Gu Yunlu’s lips, Lin Yunyou’s eyebrow jumped, and her wrist shot out. It was a merciless strike, but not very fast. If she wanted to dodge, she absolutely could.
But, Gu Yunlu didn’t move an inch. With the soft sound of splitting flesh, the sword sank into her chest.
“Yunyou, the one I wanted to trick was never you.” It was myself.
“Forget it, there’s nothing to say. I was wrong, I overestimated my own capabilities.”
Gu Yunlu slowly pulled out the sword, and dark red blood dripped along the blade, falling drop by drop to the ground. She didn’t feel the pain, her chest only felt a bit numb. Gu Yunlu laughed again and finally looked away, walking off into the setting sun.
“I was wrong, I shouldn’t have tricked you.”
“I’m going… goodbye, Yunyou…”
I hope you’ll never remember your savior again, I hope you’ll live a different life.
Gu Yunlu walked very quickly, disappearing in the blink of an eye like a gust of wind.
No one saw how with every step, she leaked grey-black clouds of soul energy, wisp by wisp spiraling off into the heavens, opening up a secret paradise in that sunless empty space.
After seeing her leave, Lin Yunyou suddenly began to feel a bit afraid. In that moment, it nearly overtook her longing for the ancient witch, pushing her to throw down the sword and chase after her. “Gu Yunlu! Will you abandon me too?”
But there was not a person to be seen in the empty space outside the door, only the setting sun throwing out its last ray of light.
