My Evil Stepson System - Chapter 175 175. Fear.
Chapter 175 175. Fear.
“You can’t tell me who started everything or you won’t tell me who the perpetrator is? Which one is it?” Kevin demanded, asking for a specific answer but just like before, Vanessa was reluctant to give him a response.
“….” Vanessa remained silent, scared that it would be better not to say anything.

After receiving a couple of hits and blows from Kevin, Vanessa knew just how strong Kevin was and she admitted to herself that there was no way in h.e.l.l she could possibly win against Kevin if they fought once again.
However, her current fear wasn’t because of Kevin. She was scared of the person who could erase her entire existence within seconds if he found out that his name had been revealed.
But her death alone wouldn’t be enough to placate his rage, Sasha’s life would also be placed in jeopardy and Vanessa would never risk putting Sasha’s life in danger.
Meanwhile, after Kevin read the notification that popped up in front of him, he finally understood her reluctance to speak, but Kevin didn’t give a d.a.m.n about who Vanessa was scared of.
Besides, he wasn’t really giving her a choice.
In fact, he never recalled giving her one in the first place.
With his mind firmly set, Kevin’s lips curled into an evil grin before he clicked his tongue several times.
“Tch, tch, tch, it seems you do not understand the position you’re currently in,” Kevin’s words dragged Vanessa’s attention towards him as she couldn’t understand what he meant by those words.
“I never recalled giving you the luxury of making a choice.”
“Huh?”
“You played a part in the disappearance of my mother and now my father is no longer in this world, This is all because you wanted to have a taste of wealth.”
“If you think that after doing all these, I’ll let you do whatever you want, then you’re gravely mistaken.”
Vanessa’s eyes widened in shock at the words she heard coming out of Kevin’s lips.
‘Max is dead?’ She thought, unable to comprehend or accept such a scenario.
‘But how?’
‘Didn’t the news yesterday say that he was about to sell his company to someone else? Had it all been a lie? Is he really dead?’
With her mind caught between believing Kevin’s words and believing the news she recently heard about Max, it was clear to see that Vanessa didn’t know about Max’s death.
In fact, it seemed that she knew nothing of it until this present moment.
Kevin noticed that her mind had wandered off, so he clicked his fingers in front of her face, drawing her attention towards him, which worked.
“What do you think you’re doing?!” He demanded with an authoritative voice and every fiber of Vanessa’s being trembled in fear at Kevin’s cold sinister glare which was aimed straight at her.
His eyes and words reflected the various emotions running through his mind. Right now, all he needed was for someone to push him beyond the threshold of his tolerance and his suppressed anger would fully erupt.
“Do you not understand what I’ve been trying to say to you all along?’
“…..” Vanessa was left speechless, she instinctively knew that she would regret it if she tried to say anything to Kevin.
Besides, she still didn’t know what Kevin had been trying to say to her ever since.
As though he could read her mind, Kevin tried to make his words clearer to Vanessa.
“In case, I didn’t make myself clear enough, I am the only one who gets to decide whether you will answer my question or not.”
“This means that if you’re instructed to tell me about how it all began and who exactly started it all, you’ll answer me straight away while casting aside the fear you have of revealing the name you’re meant to.”
Vanessa’s eyes flew open in shock and fear. n.-𝑂–𝒱((𝐞//𝐋.-𝕓-(1–n
How did Kevin know that she was scared of revealing the name he wanted to hear?
She didn’t recall saying anything to him. So, how exactly did Kevin find out about this?
words caught her by surprise.
“If I still haven’t made myself clear enough for you, all I’m trying to But just as she was mulling over how Kevin found out, his next words caught her by surprise.
“If I still haven’t made myself clear enough for you, all I’m trying to say is that I’m the one you should be more scared of,” Kevin clicked his fingers and their surroundings suddenly changed into Kevin’s room.
Vanessa’s eyes widened as a mixture of fear, awe and confusion washed over her face as she watched the third floor of the dilapidated building she had been in slowly change into Kevin’s room. That was the moment Vanessa finally understood the extent of Kevin’s abilities.
At first, Vanessa had categorised Kevin’s strength, speed and ability under an SSS rank awakened, but even an awakened of such a rank had his own limits. However, Kevin seemed to have exceeded such limits times without number, but unfortunately, she had previously failed to notice it.
From his ability to shapeshift into anyone he desired, to his ability to create delusive scenarios and human beings that were not different from a real person; all these were abilities that an SSS rank awakened shouldn’t be able to implement without experiencing a setback or two from the high amount of mana it would cost to make all these possible.
And as if these weren’t enough to show his transcendent abilities, Kevin was also able to do the impossible by duplicating a section of the city within his room without Vanessa even knowing that all she had been seeing had been an illusion.
This meant that Vanessa had been within Kevin’s fabricated reality cube since it all began and she never even noticed it.
Even when she left home and ran across the street, with the hope of making it in time to save the fake Sasha, everything she had been seeing till this moment had been what Kevin wanted her to see.
While in reality, she had never once stepped foot out of Kevin’s
room.
Now, Vanessa understood why Kevin had said that he was the one she should be more scared of. After all, his abilities had transcended beyond the realm of mortals.
