My Ghostly Romance - Chapter 16
“Well, correct. But it’s the truth anyway…” Lu He Yan shrugged but just as he was about to raise his shoulder to do it, his eyes couldn’t help but widen at the sight before him.
Before him, Kaisar who stood behind Yang Mi started to do the knots of her gown.
He meticulously did it and kept his eyes on his hand, doing the knots as if he had done it several times already.
Kaisar didn’t think of anything about his actions. He was the oldest in his family and was used to taking care of his younger siblings. He usually did all the babysitting jobs and almost acted as their parents when their actual parents left for a business trip outside the country.
Hence, when he saw how Yang Mi acted like a child, his body moved unconsciously.
Yang Mi also didn’t appear to be bothered with it. Having a stranger, no matter if that’s their savior or not, do the knots of your patient’s gown was something else.
She did feel something strange inside her as his hands briefly touched her back. It was warm – scalding even. But it didn’t burn her.
She also wasn’t worried about showing her skin. She was used to living as a ghost. And unlike humans, ghosts don’t bother with what they wear.
Besides, what’s there to be embarrassed about? Compared to what she witnessed the humans did for years, having someone touch her back couldn’t even compare with it.
After he was satisfied with the knots that he made, Kaisar supported her back to the bed before sitting on the couch.
“Well, what are you doing here?” Kaisar lazily leaned against the back of the couch and asked.
Lu He Yan chuckled, “This is where I work. Where else would I be?”
Kaisar gave him a heated gaze as if heard something absurd. Then, he paused before sighing, “Right.”
“What’s with that sigh?” Lu He Yan said. “Did you just forget that your best friend is a doctor?!”
“No.” Kaisar replied and before Lu He Yan could smile in glee, he continued. “Because I don’t have a best friend as obnoxious as you.”
Lu He Yan had wanted to speak but his mouth had already hit the floor. No one has ever dared to call him that. However, even after almost 12 years of being together, Kaisar continued to call him other names that could make him go mad.
Maybe that’s why he got used to Kaisar being so blunt that anyone would cough up blood if they were to try putting themselves in his shoes.
As the two of them speak to each other, Yang Mi stared at the two cleaning staff mopping the wet floor.
The two of them wore a light yellow uniform that belonged to the cleaning staff of the hospital. One of them was an elderly man with a balding head and the other was a young man with a charming smile.
Having met the eyes of the younger man, Yang Mi gave him a wink.
When suddenly, her chest felt a throbbing pain.
Immediately, her face darkened and she clutched her chest.
The system rang loudly once again.
[Deduction of points: 50 points have been deducted from your account.]
[Current Balance: -50 points.”
[Reason for deduction: Winking at the wrong target.]
Yang Mi: “…”
The system continued to speak while the pain in her chest subsided a little bit.
Why was winking at the younger man considered as a deduction?
[The host’s affection should be directed to the right target.]
What does that even mean? Yang Mi frowned. What target and what affection?
And to begin with, what the hell was she supposed to do to survive?
As if to give her an answer, the system gave her a long message.
[Current Level 0: Beginner’s class.]
[In order for the host to survive, you must receive the Target’s affection. You will get points for every amount of affection you will receive from the Target and missions that will be given to you. But every affection you give to the wrong target, you will receive deductions and end up dying!]
“Target…” Yang Mi whispered. If what the system was telling her was the truth. Then… doesn’t that mean that the Detective was her target?
She received her first 5,000 points when Kaisar caught her before she almost fell on the floor but that doesn’t seem like he was showing his affection at that time. He was merely helping her from falling since her body was weakened to the point that she couldn’t walk properly.
Yang Mi wondered why she received a point at all. If having him touch her and care for her meant that she’ll get a point. Then, why didn’t she get some points while he helped her in the restroom and when he tied the knots of her gown?
Wait…
Thinking about it again, didn’t the system said something like passing the initiation?
Were the points she received that time a reward for passing the initiation? If that was it then Yang Mi understood how the system works.
Basically, she needed the Detective to prolong her life. He was her lifeline after turning into a human.
And that also means…
“I have to make him fall in love with me.” Yang Mi raised her eyes to look at the detective who was still speaking with Lu He Yan.
As if he could sense her staring at him, Kaisar met her eyes and held it for a few seconds before Yang Mi looked away.
