My Ghostly Romance - Chapter 36
In S Hospital.
Lying on the bed, Kaisar watched his family take turns in coming inside his room. Since he just got out of a dangerous medical situation, the doctors had to be careful with infections coming outside.
And at this moment, his mother and uncle were standing beside his bed.
“Xiao Kai, this is why I’ve been telling you to quit that job and accept the position your father is offering you. You’re his successor, and he’s getting old now.” Uncle Chu Wang Ji told him while sighing.
The young man lying in bed was one of his favorite nephews. Out of all the children in the family, Kaisar was the only one who inherited the Chu family’s appearance, and anyone could see that.
Mother Chu frowned but agreed with him.
If it were a few days ago, Mother Chu would definitely scold this younger brother-in-law of hers not to force her son to follow her husband. Mother Chu never forced Kaisar to follow his father’s steps and let him do what he wanted.
But after that scary incident where she almost lost her son, Mother Chu could only agree.
“Uncle, my line of job will always be dangerous. It is not a game where every bullet coming from a gun will turn into a cotton ball. I entered this world while knowing how dangerous it is.” Kaisar tried to persuade them.
Mother Chu shook her head, “No! I’m not letting you go back there. I’m calling the head of your department and have you resign.”
“Mom.”
“You heard me, Kaisar.” Mother Chu was resolute.” I almost lost you. You almost died! You promised me that this wouldn’t happen to you when you became a detective. If only Yi Chao Yue didn’t leave you, you wouldn’t even think of becoming a detective.”
Kaisar sighed, “I did not become a detective because of her.”
Feeling that she said something wrong, Mother Chu looked awkward and stopped talking. She excused herself, and Uncle Chu also went out with her.
Alone inside the room, Kaisar felt tired after the line of visitors that came earlier. He did not know why everyone believed that Yi Chao Yue was the reason behind everything he does? For god sake, he already moved on after that incident.
Looking outside, two swallows circled around. One of them was singing a melodious chirp while the other listened as if it enjoyed being courted by the male swallow.
After a while of watching these birds, Kaisar looked towards the door.
No one was coming in.
Was he wrong?
He had been waiting for a certain female ghost to thrust open that door and enter his room. And yet, after the rounds of visit and minutes that went by after his mother went in, no one pushed the door open.
Knowing her, Kaisar was sure that she would stand by his side. But after he woke up, he didn’t see her at all.
He grabbed the stand that had the IV bag hanging on one of the hooks. He went to the door and pulled it open since no one was trying to.
After opening the door, the white-painted corridor was revealed.
He went out. He saw several people outside, but Yang Mi wasn’t among them.
“Where is she?” Kaisar finally asked Aunt Wu.
Aunt Wu looked weak earlier, but when she saw Kaisar, she energetically stood up from the benches, “Young master, why are you outside?”
“Where is she, Aunt Wu?” He repeated his question.
Aunt Wu looked confused as she asked, “Who is ‘she’?”
Kaisar finally stopped looking around, and his eyes landed on the old housekeeper standing in front of him. He could tell from her eyes that she wasn’t joking when she said this. But, how could that be?
“Aunt Wu… do you remember the young lady I took home a few days ago?” asked Kaisar.
The old maid looked even more confused.
Upon hearing his words, Mother Chu, who was making a call, also looked towards him. She approached the two and asked, “Aunt Wu, what is he talking about? Did my son really let someone else in his house? And it was a young lady?”
Kaisar, who was treated like he wasn’t around: “….”
Aunt Wu said, “I don’t remember any young lady. I went to young master’s house a few days ago under madam’s orders, but there was no one else there but him.”
“Oh… maybe he hid her.” Mother Chu murmured. An excitement suddenly barged into her heart after thinking like this.
Kaisar drew his eyebrows together. A headache was about to form in his head.
He left the two women outside and entered his room once again.
“What’s happening?” He asked himself.
He remembered that Aunt Wu favored Yang Mi a lot. The old maid even cooked her a bowl of snacks when Yang Mi watched her favorite afternoon drama. But from what Aunt Wu said just now, it seems that she forgot about her?
Upon having this notion, Kaisar chuckled in disbelief. If Aunt Wu forgot about Yang Mi, how could it be that he could still remember her?
Wait…
Can he still remember her?
Suddenly, he felt a skull-wrenching pain intruding his senses. Kaisar held his head as he painfully groaned beside the door.
The pain was too much that it even forced his legs to fold forward and put his one knee to the ground.
Then, as if the pain was never there, it disappeared.
But Kaisar sensed something disturbing.
But he didn’t know what it was.
Staring at the window where the two birds were courting outside, Kaisar wondered what this sense of loss inside his heart was. Then, without any warning, darkness swallowed his sight.
After losing consciousness, Kaisar saw himself lying in his bed back at home.
He felt something rustling from behind, and he couldn’t help but turn around. There, he saw a beautiful white-haired woman with red eyes lying there beside him.
He then heard her say, “Aiyoo… He looks so yummy.”
…
Author has something to say: Oh my… Kaisar forgot the human version of Yang Mi?
