My Journey As The Fox Head Clan - Chapter 36
Sabal smiled brightly, his full set of pearly with teeth proudly presented itself. He held onto Yilas with his arms firmly like she was about to run away. But after a while of rest, Yilas softly reminded Sabal.
“Sabal, we have to hurry and check Neo, he might be seriously hurt.”
“He was just sleeping, I can still hear his breathing from here.”
He looked over to Neo’s spot to check and immediately lazily snuggled back to Yilas’s chest, indulgently enjoying every second of being in her arms. If anyone didn’t see his manly naked body, they would have thought he was just a big child, loving the attention from Yilas.
Yilas sighed, she still couldn’t rest as long as Neo was just laying there, she nudged Sabal’s shoulders man times, rushing him to get up.
Being constantly pushed, Sabal couldn’t leisurely rest anymore, he got up and wrapped himself up with some clothes. He carried Yilas to get her clothes first before checking on Neo.
“What a useless beast!” He mumbled as he felt annoyed by the weaklings laying as if he was dead.
The rain had slowly stopped but Neo had already been soaked from head to toe. Yilas got on the ground and turn him around, his body was freezing and wet.
“We need to get him warm up right now! Can you carry him back?” Yilas worriedly asked Sabal.
“But why Yilas? If he can’t even survive in the slightest cold, he better off a dead beast anyway.” Sabal pouted his lips and nagged, objecting to the extra work that this annoying bird gave him, not like he liked the bird in the first place.
“Neo! Wake up!” Yilas tried to shake him but he still didn’t make a move, she looked back at Sabal and sighed, why was he so stubborn, Yilas thought to herself.
As she grabbed one of Neo’s arm and struggling to lift him up, she felt his whole weight lightened, pulling away from her. Though Sabal disagreed, he helped her in the end. There was no way he would let his female do any type of physical work, especially after all the excessive activities today.
Sabal curled Neo up with his tail and lifted Yilas off the ground, carrying her like a princess and walked home. It was the first time that Sabal felt a sense of belonging, he had finally found himself a family with Yilas.
When they got back to the house, Berthort helped to get Neo onto his bed and rest, they all asked what had happened but Yilas just said he was exhausted so Sabal went with it.
After waking up from being poisoned, Berthort was still frightened at the sight of Sabal, his body would get goosebumps whenever they were close and even just one look from him would make Berthort’s legs gave out. But the snake had somehow gained the trust of everyone else in the clan when he was asleep so he could only suppress back his fear and accepted co-existence.
Viosus who was igniting a fire, dropped everything at the sight of Yilas, as he got closer, her smell had changed. It was awfully densely mixed with the snake beast’s scent, the scent of a mating mucus belong to a male beast in heat. And immediately he understood what had happened.
Yilas noticed his facial expression changed and anxiousness grew in her, she had felt guilty toward Viosus. She held his hand and whispered in his ears.
“Please don’t be angry, I will explain everything tonight.”
Although Vio was feeling uneasy, he held back his temper and nodded. He would believe Yilas no matter what, she definitely had an answer for all of this. She was so kind to everyone so he somewhat guessed that the snake had forced himself on her, and she gave eventually gave in. Though Viosus hated the snake, seeing Yilas’s smiling face dawned on him, maybe she liked the snake after all.
Dinner continued as usual and Sabal was being extra talkative today, he told the bunch stories about his fights and hunts. Everyone enjoyed his stories, especially the little ones like Little Crow, Lyth, and Merth, their eyes were as lively as the fire nearby.
The night felt down upon them and it was time for everyone to go to sleep, Sabal insisted that he must share a bed with Yilas but she absolutely refused. She had whispered something into his ears and after that, he agreed not to be so persistent anymore. Before heading to bed, he didn’t forget laid a goodnight kiss deeply on her forehead.
Vio watched the whole thing and was secretly annoyed at the overly affectionate snake beast, he despised him for being so shameless.
Yilas asked Vio to spent sleep with her, and though he was surprised, Viosus couldn’t help but feel a sense of happiness creeping upon him. He was also embarrassed since this time Yilas had made the first move. His heart danced inside his chest nonstop, he walked over to the main house but every step he made felt like it had been slowed down. He had never been this nervous, not in his entire 20 years of living.
Viosus took a deep breath and stepped inside, Yilas was sitting straight in the bed, she was anxiously waiting for him. The scent of the snake beast lingering around her snapped Viosus back to reality, he had almost forgotten about that, maybe she asked him to come to talk about this.
“Wifey!” Viosus softly called for Yilas, he sat down next to her and held her shaky hand. No matter whatever she decided to tell him, there was no way he would get angry.
“It’s late, let’s go to sleep.” After a few minutes, Yilas couldn’t open her mouth about the thing that had happened between her and Sabal. Viosus nodded and was about to turn into a fox when Yilas stopped him. “Don’t transform, s-sleep on the bed w-with me tonight.”
Her face blushed, even in the dimly lit room, Vio could see his spouse face as clear as day, he unconsciously was getting all heated himself.
Without saying anything, Viosus laid Yilas down before sliding under the blanket with his face turned to the ceiling, his heart was beating out of control he couldn’t even dare to look at her.
Yilas was laying on her side, she kept thinking about the situation, how to tell Viosus without making it sounded bad. But in every scenario, it all sounded wrong in her head. Yilas involuntarily let out a loud sigh, Viosus, of course, understood what was worrying her.
“Wifey, if you are thinking about what happened between you and the snake beast… I already know.” Yilas was so shocked, she sat up, looking at Vio in dismay wondering how could he had known. He looked at her and continued “The scent on you is undeniable, but don’t worry, he was your spouse before me so I knew that something like this would happen.”
Yilas felt like crying, she felt all the pent-up feeling burst out of her chest, she hugged Vio tightly and screamed. He patted her head and back to comfort her, it must have been hard for her to deal with all these emotions. He resented himself the most for contributing to her heartache instead of easing her pain, he made a promise to himself to not be so selfish anymore and from now he had to protect his dear wife to any emotional wound as well.
“I’m sorry, Vio, I’m so sorry.” With her face still buried in Viosus’s embrace, Yilas’s voice only came out as a whisper.
“Shhh…” Vio held her even tighter “There’s nothing to be sorry about, you are my wife, I will love you no matter what.”
YIlas wanted to cry at how generous and kind Viosus was treating her, besides her mother from her previous life, she had never felt the same unconditional love from anyone else. Yilas thanked the god that had messed up her life, she didn’t blame him anymore because at least this time, she still had Viosus on her side.
Yilas whimpered liked she was crying, Viosus lifted her head to see but her face was dry, just the pink scar was swollen up. He softly smiled looking at his adorable spouse, telling himself how much he loved her. Vio landed a gentle kiss on Yilas’s eyes, he didn’t like the miserable expression, his wife would only be allowed to wear happiness on her face.
After Yilas had calmed down, Yilas laid soundly on Viosus’s wide shoulder, listening to the steady pounding beat of his heart.
“W-What do you think of Sabal?”
