My Journey As The Fox Head Clan - Chapter 37
“W-What do you think of Sabal?” Yilas hesitantly asked she wasn’t sure if mentioning him would foul Viosus’s mood.
“The snake is strong and capable…” Vio didn’t wait for a second to answer, it was his truthful opinion. Even though he was jealous of the snake, he couldn’t deny that the beast had an unknown power potential “Though he is sly and manipulative, I think he has good intention when it comes to you.”
Yilas was relieved, she thought maybe Viosus didn’t hate him and they would be able to live peacefully together.
“S-So you don’t dislike him?” This time Vio didn’t answer right away, Yilas’s nervousness grew by the second. But after a few minutes, Viosus finally opened his mouth to speak again.
“No, I hate him…” Yilas was startled, what he said was completely contradicting. On one hand, he complimented Sabal’s strength but now he was saying that he hated him. Yilas really didn’t know what to get out of his answer.
“But you just said that he was strong, isn’t it?”
“I admitted that he might be stronger and more experienced, but that’s what made me hate him, Yilas, he is much more capable of protecting you than I am now.” Viosus paused for a moment and swallowed the air in his mouth bitterly.
“But since we are all your spouses, our purpose and reasoning to live are all the same so instead of envying over who has more powers, I should focus on improving myself, so that I can protect my wifey in the future. Not to mention, with the snake around, I am more confident about our chances against the Boar’s clan beasts. If they come back another round, there will always be somebody capable enough to protect you on guard.”
Yilas had almost forgotten about all of that danger, she was amazed at how thoughtful Viosus was, he was indeed such a good man, much better than she ever deserved in life. Thought about how lucky she was, Yilas giggled, Viosus looked at his lovely spouse reacted happily, he couldn’t help but smile too.
“I am so lucky to have you, Vio” Yilas squeezed Viosus’s chest with her tiny arms, even reaching with all her might, she still didn’t have enough arm to wrap around his chest. Across his meaty, muscular chest, Yilas white, skinny arms looked like a pair of twigs. His heart filled with pure happiness from the compliment Yilas gave him, though inside his head he told himself he was the lucky one to have her in his life.
“Call me hubby, or did you forget already, Yilas?” Viosus teased Yilas, her face was getting redder and redder, she tried saying it a few times but no sounds came out yet.
“H-H-H… H-Hub… Hub-Hub-Hubb… H-Hubby!” Yilas looked like a scared cute rabbit, she had always been the most beautiful in Viosus’s eyes but seeing her expression like this was like a cupid’s arrow shooting directly at his heart one more time. “So cute!” He thought to himself.
Vio grinned satisfyingly, he had finally heard his spouse call him such a lovely name if the snake had seen them now, he would bite his tongue and die out of jealousy.
“But wifey, can I tell you something? I don’t think Neo was living here with good intention, with him coming back here so suspiciously, he could be a spy for the Boars.” This thought had haunted Vio for several days, although the bird’s action hadn’t caused any suspicion, he would rather keep his spouse safe.
“I don’t think he’s that kind of person…” Neo’s blushing red adorable expression flashed before Yilas’s eyes, how could such a lovable boy be that calculative, she thought. Thinking about his bright smile and genuine concern for her, she undoubtedly believed he was a kind-hearted young man.
“You’re too naive, only you would think every beast in the world is good nature.” Vio lightly criticized Yilas’s innocence, but without that admirable traits, he wouldn’t have fallen head over heels for her.
“But I’m serious, he’s really carefree, and to be honest, not the brightest, you have to believe me, he wouldn’t mean any harm to any of us.”
Vio sighed, maybe she had a point, Neo seemed pretty childish, all he did past few days was bickering around with the snake and acting cute in front of Yilas. He was rather a simple nature beast, and maybe pulling off such a difficult task was impossible for the bird.
“But his members are somebody we need to look out for, who knows when they will decide to come back?” He still felt uneasy, if anything were to happened to his spouse, he wouldn’t know how many bad things he was willing to do to get her back.
A bad feeling instantly took over him, Viosus got chills ran down his back, whenever he thought about these horrible things happening to Yilas, all he felt was fear. He was scared to lose her again, helplessly watching her suffer. Deep down in Vio’s heart, he couldn’t get over the guilt he had for Yilas’s damaged left eye.
Vio squeezed her tight in his chest, he promised, he would never leave her scare and alone ever again.
“V-Vio… You’re hugging too tight!” Yilas had to tap out when she was gasping her for air in Viosus’s sudden hug, sometimes she wondered what was bothering him so much to make him wandered off somewhere in his mind.
“Oh… Sorry wifey, I got carried away in my thoughts.” Vio stopped to kissed Yilas nose “But don’t worry about it, let’s get some rest and start with the trading plan tomorrow.”
Yilas agreed, she immediately said “Right! Right!” and got back to her side and tried to sleep, though she didn’t think about how nervous she would feel sleeping next to Vio, her heart would pound so loudly that as if it was jumping out of her chest. After a while, she still couldn’t get any rest even when she started to hear Vio’s consistent sound breathing, he was already fast asleep.
**
When the sunbeam woke Yilas’s up the next morning, Viosus had already left the bed and started working on adding finishing touches to a few sample axes and buckets. With these few, they could bring to the goat doctor and asked for him to sell to the farming beasts. If the response was positive, they could work out some deal with a distributor in town.
Yilas was quick to catch on with what Viosus was planning on doing, she excitedly exclaimed, now their plan could finally be in motion. She went and help with him with the preparation, they both skipped breakfast to get the finishing products ready.
After a full night of rest, Neo had woken up, and although his body was aching, he couldn’t remember much that had happened after him and the snake got back from hunting. Yilas secretly sighed out of relief when Neo didn’t have a clue. Sabal didn’t seem to care much about the bird, he was all smiles and giggles seeing his beloved spouse first thing in the morning. Though it was just one night, he had already missed her dearly.
“YYIIILLAASSSS!!” Sabal passionately screamed her name, running towards her with his arms wide open just to be let down by the frightened Yilas, hiding behind Vio’s back. “Oh how I have missed you, Yilas, how could I ever sleep again without you safely in my arms?” He dramatically grabbed Yilas’s hand, applying it to his icy-skinned face.
“Ahhh!” Yilas yelled quietly and took her hand back, his cold skin surprised her making goosebumps ran all over her arms.
Didn’t faze by Yilas’s reluctant response, Sabal bent his 2-meter tall torso down at her level, looking at the stuff she was making. Seeing her hand got all scratched and cut, Sabal frowned and grabbed it, he used his long fork tongue to lick the wounds before angrily glared at the fox.
