My Journey As The Fox Head Clan - Chapter 38
“What are you doing to my female, can’t you see her hands are hurt? Shouldn’t you know how fragile she is, why are you making her work such an intensive workload?” Sabal interrogated Vio who was also staring at Yilas’s hands, he was so absorbed in work that he didn’t notice it. The snake tall built towered over Viosus, though Vio was over 185cm tall, the snake was just slightly taller than him, staring him down with his chilling, devious purple eyes.
It wasn’t sure when Yilas had squeezed her body between the two giant beast-man but she pushed both of them away from each other with all her might.
“Stop it Sabal! It was my fault for not being careful, but these are just small cuts, they don’t even hurt.
Yilas was getting impatient with Sabal’s quick temper, if they could start living peacefully together, Sabal should learn how to not pick a fight every single second.
After things had calmed down, Yilas and Vio explained their plan with Sabal, and they also discussed coming to Goat’s city on the same day, and of course, Sabal wanted in. When they packed their things, Neo insisted on going too, though with his reckless act last time, Yilas thought he should at least stay at home and lay low this time.
“But I didn’t even do anything last time!” Neo pouted his lips and crossed his arms, why didn’t he get to have some fun too.
“I already have cover myself like this, with your legs there is no way we can get in without anyone noticing.” Yilas wrapped her head and face in a white fur coat, Viosus had to do the same thing with a brown-ish color one.
“I can hide my legs in one of the coats too!” Neo was about to go get a coat for himself when Sabal swiftly grabbed him by the back of his neck and stopped him
“This trip is business, no kids are allowed.” Sabal glared his eyes, Neo wiggled around and tugged on his arm but there was no escaping for him.
Being dropped to the ground like a bag of dust, Neo lowered his head, feeling left out. Yilas tapped on his shoulder and smiled.
“If you and Little Crow get started on the gold collecting today, I will bring back some fun toys for you guys.”
“Really?” Neo asked excitedly, his golden eyes twinkled like stars in a dreamy night sky. “Yilas is the best! I will get started on it right now.”
Neo transformed into a brown hawk in a blink of an eye, he soon flew away with Little Crow behind him. Yilas waved and said her goodbye to Lyth, Merth, and Berthort before joining the two who had already starting to walk away. The two had already carried most of the needed stuff so Yilas had only her bare hands.
First Yilas was thrilled but after about an hour of walking, she started to feel tired and couldn’t keep walking. Sabal turned into a half-snake and let her sit on his tail end. Without having to match up Yilas walking speed, they got to the city much faster, thinking about it Yilas thought she shouldn’t have insisted on walking on her own since the beginning.
Since they were avoiding beasts from last time, Viosus directed them to a back way, which took them around the city limit and straight to the goat doctor’s ranch. After 45 minutes of detouring, they passed a giant wheat farm, the golden color was so beautiful and it stretched as far as Yilas’s eyes couldn’t see. She couldn’t help but look around excitedly like a little child.
“Wow… Look at all this wheat!”
Sabal turned his head around, the wind was blowing slightly, brushing through his long silky black hair every so often.
“If you like it, I will plant around our house, that way you can see it every day.” He smiled generously, the way the sun hit his lovely white skin made him even more attractive. His thoughtful and loving gesture put a smile on Yilas face, though she shook her head.
“Farming takes a lot of skill, it’s not easy to take care of a huge field like this.” Viosus quietly observed the plant, it was indeed very healthy, the skills of these beasts were much more advanced than they could ever be.
Soon the three reach a big wooden door with two wings, the house was built out of rocks and mud. Although it looked rustic at first, the wall was high and sturdy up close.
Viosus knocked loudly on the door three-time, a little boy with squirrel ears and tail crept open the door slightly to took a peek. As soon as he recognized Vio when he unveiled his mask, he extended the opening and politely greet him.
“Squirrelly, where is your master?” Once the three had entered the house and closed the door, Vio asked the little kid who couldn’t have been older than 10 years old.
“Master is working in the east field, is it urgent?” The young boy seemed quite smart and well-behaved, he must be used to having people looking for his Master for treatment.
“No, but go ahead and inform him the Master of the Fox clan is here.”
The squirrel boy searched around with his eyes and thoroughly looked Sabal and Yilas up and down. Yilas felt uncomfortable being judge with the gaze of a child half her age, she awkwardly turned away as soon as their eyes met.
“Alright!” The boy promptly jumped over the wall and went to find his master, leaving them in the middle of the yard.
Inside, the house decor was very much basic and simply divided into 2 sides, one side house with roof and the other looked like a barn with mountains tall of hay. The hay was so overloaded that it got everywhere in the yard also. Yilas thought they might need a lot of sweeping to get this place tidy up.
Since they didn’t have a place to sit, Yilas sat down on a haystack nearby, undoing her face cover. She breathed heavily, it was still summer weather so it was getting heated inside that fur scarf.
Viosus pulled out a water pouch inside a bucket they were carrying, crouched down, and brought near Yilas’s mouth attentively. After only drinking a little, Yilas give it back to him and told the two to have some, more than half of the ride she was carried so they must have been more thirsty than she was.
After about 15 minutes of waiting, they started to hear some loud footsteps approaching, it sounded like a big herd of horses was running toward the house. The first one to open the door was the little boy again after that YIlas saw what looked like centaurs, about 5 of them, some taller and bigger than others.
The only face she recognized was the goat’s doctor, who was riding one of the male centaurs. He jumped off the carrier and greeted Viosus animatedly.
“Welcome back! Welcome back!” He raised his arms high to give Viosus a hug, a group of centaurs people followed and went inside the barn, Yilas eyes opened widely, she was shocked beyond belief. In her previous life, half-human half-horse were only mythical creatures, being able to see them with her own eyes was something that she had never even dreamt about.
