My Journey As The Fox Head Clan - Chapter 41
Yilas was petrified, she tugged and pulled Sabal from behind but it was no use, Viosus seeing her wrestling with all her might so he decided to help. He slapped the back of the snakehead forcefully, making a loud and dry *pap* sound, the bull laughed historically at the youngsters’ actions.
Being slapped hard from behind, Sabal angrily turned around, once he figured it was Vio’s doing, he grabbed Vio by the neck aggressively. Vio didn’t avoid it, his expression was still calm and careless toward the snake, agitating him even more.
Yilas who was scared Sabal might hurt Vio but she also feared that the beast-man would hurt them, she bent her body at a 90-degree angle and yelled at the top of her lung.
“I am so sorry, it was my fault for walking without looking and bumped into you! Please excuse my bad manner, we will leave at once.”
Sabal stopped all his actions hearing Yilas’s apology, she did nothing wrong so why was she sorry for him. The beast-man stopped his laugh and attentively listened to Yilas, he knew this tiny female was trying to protect the snake beast.
This was the second time in his life seeing a female who would risk her own life protecting her males, it was reminding him of somebody who was dear to his old heart. A nostalgic memory flashed before his eyes, this female reminded him of his spouse of 20 years.
“Hmmm…” The bull tilted his head and crossed his arms on his bulky chest, he couldn’t see the female’s face but her figure was much smaller than he was that he had to squint his eyes. “What is your name, young female?”
Yilas lifted her head, her body shot up straight stiffly, she answered like a soldier.
“My name is Yilas.” Even though they were three steps apart, Yilas could sense the powerful presence of the man in front of her, it was best not to displease him any further.
“I have never seen you in the city, you people must be travelers.” By the strange clothes and covers, the old beast guessed that much, he had good memories of all the beasts living in the city so he would have recognized her.
“Yes, sir!” Yilas answered loudly, she was so stiff and polite that it was funny to the old beast-man. Females always lived a privileged life so they had little to none regard to any males, even with his status, a lot of females still acted sassily in front of him. This little female’s behavior put a smile on his face, though her spouse was a completely different story.
“Good, good! How do you like the city so far?” The man kindly asked Yilas, he could see she relaxed a little bit, thinking hard before answering.
“It’s very pretty and lively, with all the people living here and it is still very peaceful so I like it very much.” The beast-man nodded his head non-stop listening to Yilas, he was flattered with her words since he had worked hard to keep this city under control.
“Well said little one.” The man laughed, had patted on his own chest proudly and said: “Just for that, I will treat you to the best food in this town, what do you say?”
Although Yilas was scared to death a few moments ago, as soon as she heard food, her eyes lit up like stars, of course, she wouldn’t say no to some free food. Yilas nodded her head vigorously, she wouldn’t let a good opportunity like this go to waste.
“Haha, good! It’s not far away but prepare to walk for a bit.” After saying whispering something to the man next to him, the bull beast started to walk in the direction to the place, not forgetting to encourage Yilas to keep up with his speed.
Viosus and Sabal both glanced at each other, they silently exchanged concerns about the legitimacy of this beast-man. But when they saw Yilas got this excited, they couldn’t bear to stop her, she was practically skipping and singing the long the way. The two followed closely with Yilas and the old beast-man, secretly signaling each other to be careful.
“You’re so kind, sir, but I didn’t catch your name yet!” The sound of Yilas chimed like bells, it was a pure and peaceful sound, without even looking at her face, the beast-man could already tell she was a beauty. No wonder her two spouses seemed so protective of her.
“People in the city called me Big First, but my name is Bryok. You can call me whichever.” While being slowed down by her speed, Bryok had to constantly bend down to talk to her, she was so small that he might step on her by accident.
“Can I call you Mr. Big?” Yilas laughed, she thought that nickname matched him very well.
“Sure thing…”
Mr. Big finally stopped at a big house on the outskirts of town, they walked on foot for over 40 minutes to get here.
At first glance, the house was something out of a fantasy, it had walls made out of plants and vines neatly shaped and trimmed. The door was round and made out of two thick, old trees. The trunks from each tree intertwined together nicely making a reverse U-shape, welcoming their guests elegantly.
Yilas didn’t see any signs or drawing like the one in town had, she thought this must be an exclusive restaurant. Not only her but Sabal and Viosus were also in awed, they had never seen anything like this in their lives.
The young man who was conversing with Mr. Big earlier came to the door and welcomed them. Turn out Mr. Big had instructed him to come back here first to prepare for everything. Two-line of beast-men stood nicely forming a way for them to enter the main house, it was nothing short of royal service. Yilas never would have guessed that Mr. Big was such an important figure.
Soon enough they reach the main house, which was as big as a castle, the stone wall was made with high architect skills, no less than that of the human’s world, Yilas got excited and touched all the wall, Mr. Big couldn’t help but laugh at her childish behavior.
“If you like it so much, tell your spouses to build you one, I will tell introduce you to the beast-man who built this house.”
“N-No need, sir. I was just admiring it, there’s no way I can afford this.”
Yilas’s honest answer made Mr. Big laughed even louder, the ground once again shook by the waves of his breaths.
The four of them entered the house, it was even more spacious than the outside had indicated. First, they entered the main room which had fur mats and a giant woodblock as a table, upon further inspection, Yilas determined that it was no ordinary table. The across the thick table were faces of different animals and man, it was like a story nicely flowed from one to another. Yilas saw Mr. Big’s face on it, she pointed her finger and asked.
“Isn’t that you Mr. Big?”
“Ahh, yes it is. I forgot it was even there sometimes. I’m surprised you even recognized that it was me when it was made I was only a youngster like you.”
Looking at his eyes, Yilas knew a few memories came back to him at that moment, this table must have meant a lot to him.
