My Journey to Godhood as a Caterpillar - Chapter 217
The punch was rather slow and it came from a straight angle, Yun Duritz should have been able to easily dodge the punch but its slowness was only an illusion!
When things became too fast the body would enter a time slowed event where you could see everything that was in front of you very clearly due to the extreme amount of adrenaline that was going through the body.
In this situation, Yun Duritz’s body understood the danger that it went through and slowed everything for Yun Duritz’s convenience, however, Yun Jhin’s soul fragment knew that the power of this new body was something that wouldn’t fall short of the power shown by his ‘sister’.
Yun Duritz immediately counterattacked as he punched as well, their punches met in the middle as a blue shockwave appeared between them, a energy ball surrounded the two of them as their ki started to react instinctively to protect them against the destructive power coming from the shockwaves.
They were now in a stalemate as they tried to outdo each other, trying to push with their whole body strength, the shield that covered them both disappeared as Luan gritted her teeth while her muscles started to move on her body.
Her veins looked just like earthworms as blood pumped through her whole body trying to overpower Yun Duritz.
Yun Duritz shouted as his power increased once more, his destiny tempering gave him an immense power up as he tapped into the refined bloodline for a second time!
He reached tier 2 of his transformation as his muscles gained more mass and his height increased by 40 centimeters, this gave him an immense amount of strength for the trade-off a small amount of his speed and stamina.
Luan was being pushed back slowly but surely, she gritted her teeth as a literal fire started to spill from her eyes, her lean body started to bulk up the same way that Yun Duritz’s did and she grew even taller than him!
“Think you are the only one who learned this technique and progressed to this stage? While you may have gotten the destiny of the realm you shouldn’t look down on your big sis!”
“I wasn’t looking down on you ‘big sis’ but you fell right into my trap!”
“What?”
Suddenly Yun Duritz’s body deflated back to its initial state as he let go of the power struggle, due to the inertia Lin Luan couldn’t stop her massive body from pushing forward and Yun Duritz could firmly jump on her back and start bombarding her with his fists, his body bulked up again as his weight increased making it harder for her to get up.
His punches were aimed at her vital parts then suddenly he took hold of her right arm and started pushing it doing the same thing she had done to him on their first meeting.
“Say uncle big sis!”
“Eh? You are trying this with your big sis? It seems your training made your guts quite big!”
“Oh, guts aren’t the only thing that my training increased!”
He started to push her arm so much that her tough bones that had been refined over and over again started to creak and crack.
The sounds of bones cracking were so loud that even the guards that watched the battle winced.
“Ready to say uncle big sis?”
“Never!”
“That’s what I wanted to hear…”
Suddenly his arm inflated three times its initial size as he ripped her arm from her socket and threw it a few meters away.
Luan shouted in pain as her transformation reverted she clutched her stump as blood flowed freely for there for a few seconds before a new arm grew there.
She grimaced as she looked at Yun Duritz who was above her, his form deflated as he returned to his original form, he scratched the back of his head as he chuckled awkwardly before offering her a hand:
“I don’t know what went through me at that time big sis but you just didn’t want to give up and considering how strong you were I don’t think a ripped arm would matter much right?”
She sighed as she got up from the ground and then slapped him on the face:
“The arm doesn’t matter but you have done this so sudden without any warning! We are family not enemies it doesn’t matter if you want to take revenge but at least give me a warning, the sudden pain wasn’t nice at all!”
Yun Duritz put his hand on the place he had been slapped and laughed inside, this was only a little bit of payback.
“Ok big sis I will make sure to announce you next time.”
She sighed as she said:
“I guess you don’t really need to get to the God Realm to succeed me as the head of the family… you are already strong enough, it seems the destiny really helped you a lot to the point that you can beat me, even though I didn’t use my ki wholly you still beat me in body refinement which shows that you can fight on your own with those at the God Realm.”
“But why did I need to be at the God Realm anyway?”
“Ah… we didn’t even give you the whole information, we were just too happy that you came back that we forgot to even tell you about the family!”
She shook her head as they got out of the crater they created during the battle, as Yun Duritz looked backward at the crater he could see that it was slowly healing itself returning to normal ground levels after 10 seconds.
“Interesting.”
They entered the house leaving the guards there who were still slack-jawed at the fight that happened.
“You see our family had been guarding the eastern exit to the mortal realm for… well for since we existed? It’s been such a long time that not even our oldest elder knows truly when we were created, since you are going to inherit the patriarch position you just need to know that we need to have a good image for the public and that’s pretty much all, we have one of the easiest jobs in the celestial world!”
“Hmm? Why is that?”
“Why? Because no one can come from the mortal realm to the celestial realm and who would want to leave the celestial realm? Even Yuan Fang only left grudgingly after he realized that there was no more place for him on the continent after what he did to you…”
“Only if you still had your memories we could have sent a squad to his location in the mortal realm and annihilated him once and for all!”
Yun Duritz shook his head inside, there was no way to find him even if he had Duritz’s memories, would he be dumb enough to remain in the same place after the stunt he pulled?
“Anyways let’s get you ready for the ceremony.”
********************
Yun Duritz was firmly sitting on the throne meant for the patriarch as he looked down at the kneeling elder’s guards and his sister.
The ceremony had been short and uninteresting, he had to get the blessing of the ancestors and some other dumb stuff that he didn’t even care about anymore as it was only a formality, he didn’t get to communicate with the souls of the ancestors nor get any ‘reward’ for becoming the head of the house.
Yun Duritz stood on the throne as he contemplated something before suddenly asking:
“So what do I have to do now?”
Everyone almost faceplanted at his question then looked at Luan with a face that asked “Haven’t you taught him anything?”
Luan laughed awkwardly as she got up from her kneeling position and said:
“Patriarch Duritz, now that you have ascended to this position you have quite a lot of responsibilities such as…”
“???”
Luan didn’t say anything as she scrunched her eyebrows then looked at the elders and other people in the room and bowed while saying:
“What was the patriarch supposed to do again?”
“We uh…”
Yun Duritz felt a headache coming, up till now he hadn’t been able to analyze them due to the sudden actions they took against him, making him cultivate and having to fight his ‘sister’ but it seems he had been given a house of fools!
None of them even knew what the patriarch of the house was supposed to do!
He had to act this way to ensure his identity but they were genuine fools!
“This is better than expected, I can get all of the power as a patriarch and no responsibility! I should just make an expedition to the Soul Emperor Tomb and get those inheritances!”
“So I don’t have to do anything?”
Luan put a finger to her chin and thought for a few seconds:
“Well while I was Matriarch I didn’t do anything so I guess you don’t have to do anything either?”
“To be honest all I had to do was have a cultivation base at the God Realm and considering that I was the daughter of the former patriarch I became the Matriarch since you weren’t here.”
Yun Duritz got up from the throne and said:
“Well since I don’t have to do anything I actually have a proposal!”
“You mentioned the Soul Emperor a few times and how Yuan Fang got some of his techniques, maybe if I go there with some people I will regain my memories? And with my new destiny, I might even be able to get the inheritance!”
“Oh no no, you understood wrongly, Yuan Fang had gone there but before he even met you! There is no way you can trigger any of your memories that way.”
Yun Duritz frowned inside but continued:
“What about the inheritance of the soul emperor? Maybe it could help me regain my memories.”
“Hmm that sounds plausible but the tomb hadn’t been solved by no one even though it stood there even before our family was created officially, we had sent experts there quite a lot of times but they either got lost or came back empty-handed, we were actually extremely surprised to hear Yuan Fang and his friend got the inheritance of the Emperor and one of his stronger subordinates.”
“But since you want to get your memories back so badly how could we say no to our Patriarch? We don’t have anything to do anyways!”
Yun Duritz could say cultivate but these people looked way more relaxed compared to the people of the mortal realm. They had a different attitude towards cultivation compared to the people in the mortal realm, if such a known tomb was public as they said it would have been raided or destroyed up till now in the mortal realm on the basis that if I can’t have it then no one will, or at least it would have been sealed if the materials it was made from were too durable.
“Ok, then we shall create a team of guards for me and go there immediately!”
“Of course, immediately after the congratulatory feast for you!”
“Do we really have to?”
The crowd immediately started to move as they said in unison:
“But of course! A feast is a must for such a happy occasion!”
Yun Duritz shook his head inside, these people’s strength was quite high but their personalities were just like those of a normal person’s, well albeit a little more extreme due to their immense strength but they didn’t have any type of malice in them, it was actually quite interesting in Yun Duritz’s opinion… they were also easier to manipulate.
