My Journey to Godhood as a Caterpillar - Chapter 220
The mummies stood in groups of 2 and 3 and they were around 300 in total, however, their numbers didn’t intimidate Yun Duritz at all.
He had a smile on his face as he walked in their midst like a wolf in a flock of sheep, they were all so old and brittle that all he needed to do was create some strong airwaves with his ki to destroy them when their bodies would dissipate into dust he would casually take whatever was stored in their chests.
This way he got quite a lot of useless inheritances, most of these people were just cannon fodder in the Soul Emperor’s eyes but they were still buried with him because they were loyal, most of them actually died before the Soul Emperor.
His direct subordinates couldn’t be found among the mummies that Yun Duritz was killing which meant that Yuan Fang should have got their inheritances, Ukog got the teleportation technique that still ended up in Yun Jhin’s hands but what did Yuan Fang get? At first, he thought that he might have gotten something from the Soul Emperor but it was obvious the old fogie sarcophagus hasn’t been touched.
So what did Yuan Fang get from this tomb?
He was sure he had entered it as he had a fortuned constitution and his destiny must be massive even higher than what he had absorbed in the mortal realm.
As he finished killing the mummies the question continued to plague him, there was no way Yuan Fang would have exited this place empty-handed and he wasn’t such a good person to go personally to help Ukog.
He shook his head, at this point he had gone through every nook and cranny of the place and he didn’t find any other spot that could have held a treasure or inheritance. Since he couldn’t find anything he shouldn’t beat his head with the details, he had already beaten Yuan Fang a few times and took care of his two most important underlings, he also got the true inheritance of the soul emperor so he shouldn’t care about what Yuan Fang got.
He slowly exited each layer of the tomb and appeared in front of Lin Lang, Simon, and the others.
Seeing how he reappeared made the others glad as they sighed in unison, what could they tell Luan when they would say that they lost the head of the house?
Yun Duritz took a look around his troops and nodded as he said:
“I have found the inheritance and got quite a lot of good stuff, we shall share it with everyone back at the city.”
The troops cheered as they took their way back using the same path with no problems, the admiral crocodiles were still hibernating as it didn’t take much time for Yun Duritz to clear the tomb.
They reached the city and entered it before going straight to the house of the clan.
There Yun Duritz took his seat on the patriarch’s throne before he initiated a meeting.
All of the people that came beforehand appeared again, they didn’t seem bothered at all Yun Duritz invited them here again even though normally they should have been angry that they were being disrupted from their cultivation time, it seemed the celestial realm netizens truly had different views on cultivation compared to the mortal realm ones.
“I have been to the Soul Emperor’s tomb and I have come back with results!”
The elders and his big sister had wide eyes as they heard what he said, no one had ever come with anything from the tomb up till now and they really wanted to see what Yun Duritz brought.
Yun Duritz took a small pile of jade slips and bamboo parchments out of his spatial dimension as he threw them on the ground in front of him, he waved his hand and said:
“These are all from the tomb.”
An old man with braided hair and a small beard came forward and took a bamboo parchment from the pile and started reading it, the moment he read the first few lines on the parchment he immediately became entranced and couldn’t stop himself from reading until he had finished the whole thing in one sitting.
“Such exquisite calligraphy, such important insights about the power of the ki energy core… this is a scripture!”
The old man even wanted to kiss the parchment but stopped himself as the others looked at him strangely.
He made a ‘humph’ sound as he disappeared with the parchment in tow.
The others immediately went ahead to see what the hubbub was about:
“Old Ma looked like he saw his late wife, what the hell was on that parchment? Could it have been an old romance novel?”
“Hey Old Ma isn’t such a huge pervert, right? Who knows where that parchment had been after all the young master had taken it from a tomb…”
“Eh, that’s for Old Ma to worry about… I will surely not get intimate with mine.”
“Why do I feel like your eyes were flickering when you said that?”
“Ahem.”
Yun Duritz felt really awkward seeing them talk, it was like he was looking at children, as the saying went, war makes strong men while peace made weak men, this didn’t actually apply to their bodily strength but to their mentality.
He sighed then decided to leave them alone with the scrolls, parchments, and slips.
Yun Duritz went to the back of the house and decided to look through the Soul Emperor’s technique.
Yun Duritz took the azure tome out of his spatial dimension and inspected it with his soul willpower for a few seconds to make sure it was safe, while the trap would be quite of poor quality due to the immense amount of time it had gone through it should still exist, it was way too easy to acquire the tome so there should be some other fail-safes the emperor had put in case too much time had passed and his original plans became unusable.
The tome opened up as Yun Duritz flipped through the pages but as he looked at them he started laughing:
“The first three pages are empty… so this is how Yuan Fang got some of the inheritance.”
“Well let’s see what’s left.”
The tome wasn’t very big, it had a total of 30 pages and only its cover was rather thick.
The first three pages recorded one technique so in total there were 10 techniques.
The next 3 pages recorded a technique meant to temper the soul into a weapon form creating weapon willpower instead of the normal soul willpower, Yun Duritz could create weapons with his soul willpower but this technique was meant to temper this aspect of soul usage so he memorized it, the moment he did it disappeared from the tome.
“Hmm, interesting writing technique.. once the technique is memorized it disappears completely from the tome.”
The other techniques in the tome were all rather useful so Yun Duritz learned all of them before burning the tome into cinders.
Actually one of the techniques took his attention, it was the last one, and it what he needed in this situation…
A technique specifically made to forcefully control God Realm experts!
He immediately became entranced the moment he saw this technique, this was something he had always wanted the moment he found out that God Realm experts had complete protection from full mind control and they could only be brainwashed or restrained in other ways.
Yun Jhin always had control problems as he wanted everything to be done exactly as he said, and he was actually quite mad he couldn’t forcefully control the minds of the others completely otherwise they would explode.
But now he had one way to do what he wanted and he was going to experiment immediately!
He summoned Lin Lang to him under the guise that he wanted to try and regain his memories by chatting with him as the visit to the tomb had triggered something in him saying that he started to remember a few things and reminiscing them with a close friend would quicken the process.
Lin Luan immediately came over with two jugs of wine and laughed as he saw Yun Duritz sitting cross-legged in the garden behind the house, he threw one jug over which Yun Duritz caught easily and downed in a few gulps.
Lin Luan downed his own jug and came closer before sitting cross-legged near him and starting to talk about their past.
However Yun Duritz just stayed there looking at him, directly in the eyes without blinking at all, this unnerved Lin Luan since he knew that Duritz would never act like this normally so he asked:
“Are you ok man? You seem to act weird.”
“Me? Oh, there is nothing just something that I have picked up at the tomb, tell me how are the others doing?”
“Hmmm? Your sister and the other elders are still engrossed in the things you have brought back from the tomb, why are you asking?”
“Oh for no reason…”
Suddenly Yun Duritz’s hand sneaked upon Lin Lang’s chest where a concentrated blast of crimson energy entered him and left through his back leaving a gaping hole through his chest.
The man coughed a mouthful of blood as he fell in surprise and dread as he looked at Yun Duritz and asked with a trembling voice:
“Why??”
“Oh for no particular reason, now go to sleep!”
Yun Duritz’s soul willpower entered Lin Lang’s soul palace as it crushed the man’s soul making it go immobile thus his body went unconscious.
Then he went to work… small blue tentacles left Yun Duritz’s soul as they infiltrated Lin Lang’s whole body then entered his heart where they left a seed that grew immediately into a blue skull that started screeching then exploded turning Lin Lang’s heart blue.
Then the tentacles entered Lin Lang’s soul palace where they infiltrated his soul core but they didn’t touch any of his important thinking parts nor did they attempt to forcefully take control… they went ahead to the memory part of the core and inserted themselves deeply at the beginning parts of Lin Lang’s memories where they left another seed, this time it wasn’t a skull that sprouted but a small owl that took flight into Lin Lang’s memory core and disappeared as if it was never there.
Yun Duritz then revitalized Lin Lang and let him wake up, when Lin Lang saw Yun Duritz he didn’t say anything as if he was never attacked a few seconds ago, he just got up bowed and left according to the mental orders that Yun Duritz gave.
Yes, mental orders… Yun Duritz had applied the technique and now he had full control over Lin Lang even though the man was a 2nd stage God Realm expert, and to boot, he could control him using his soul willpower alone!
Yun Duritz smiled as he looked towards the house… he would make sure he had more time to enslave everyone else so there would be no hubbub when he would open the gate to invite his main body in.
