My Journey to Godhood as a Caterpillar - Chapter 228
Yun Jhin fished the duo of men from the holes and put his hands on each of their foreheads before he subjugated them into his slaves.
Any type of resistance was futile in front of the Soul Emperor techniques and combined with the fact that they were quite close to death made the subjugation fast and successful.
The duo kneeled in front of Yun Jhin as they called him master and he waved his hand taking away the ki he inserted in his body to reduce their healing factor, thus after a few seconds while they were still a bit exhausted their injuries had been fully healed.
Seeing the patriarch and ancestor of the family kneeling to the invaders made the defenders immediately deflate like a balloon, their morale hit an all-time low as they started to surrender or tried to escape, only for Yun Jhin to raise one hand to the sky and unleash a gigantic barrier that enveloped the whole city making it impossible for anyone to escape.
He started to float into the air as he looked down at each and ever defending person before unleashing a storm of mental willpower, the storm engulfed everyone regardless of gender, cultivation base, or age, their eyes started to turn slack as they all fell to their knees and started to chant Yun Jhin’s name.
Finally after a few touches here and there he had properly captured the Kun family city and by extent, the whole western location, all he had to do now was leave the family to continue as they were doing beforehand, on paper nothing would have happened to the family and things would go on as they were supposed to, but after he finished capturing all of the families things would start to run rampant.
No news leaked about the capture of the Kun family as Yun Jhin made sure there were no escapes.
After he repaired the formation and inserted some of his soul willpower into it to take full control, he decided to leave with his squad, which now had a few more members, they were Kun family experts and they would be able to heal his troops in the future conflicts, the southern and northern family were way stronger than both the eastern and western family, even if the eastern and western families joined hands there was still a chance the northern or southern families would be able to take care of them without the help of one another.
Yun Jhin had already gotten some intelligence from the Lin family and combined it with the one from the Kun family and he also got some intelligence from the prince thus he had a complete view of both families.
The northern family was called Han and they were the strongest guardian family, not because of their nature or talents, it was mostly because they were the richest family around, they had connections in the central realm and they were originally a merchant family that rose to power due to their political connections, however, this leads to them being good at business and average at everything else, while they had strong people in the family their battle power was average or below because they were spoon-fed cultivation resources until they reached their talent peak.
So while their strength was high, Yun Jhin could dismantle them like a precise surgeon as long as he fought them alone, if the southern and northern families joined hands things would be a little harder but that meant he had to blitz one family first making sure that they wouldn’t send any reinforcements.
As for the southern family, they were called Chen and they were only a little bit weaker than the northern family, they were a family of generals and fighters quite similar to the Lin family but a few degrees lower, they came from a military background from before the celestial realm was united.
They were the original fighting force that worked under the Emperor but due to the Emperor’s descendants looking at them with a wariness that they might expand their power in the central area thus creating a new noble family so they were ‘assigned’ a job to protect the celestial realm at its southern borders, this leads to them being ostracized and depressed, as they had fought with all they had for the Emperor and their descendants had done such a cruel thing to them, leading to their decline in power, however, they didn’t decline by much as they got over their depression rather quickly, their average battle power was higher than the northern family but they had a smaller amount of experts and they were only proficient in battle thus they were rather poor as the current era that they lived in didn’t need their proficiency.
Yun Jhin actually looked down upon every netizen of the celestial realm, they grew weak and mushy due to their lifestyle and peace, they were squandering their cultivation resources, if he was honest with himself with the current resources he would be able to create thousands of peak God realm experts if he used them on the people of the mortal realm and hell.
As he analyzed the strengths and weaknesses of the Chen and Han families he finally decided on the next target, the Han family had more experts thus it would be harder for him to ‘blitz’ them and their cultivation bases were higher even though their battle power was lower their stamina was better so they would fight longer, long enough for them to actually be able to slip through his troops and send out for reinforcements, while Yun Jhin defeated the Kun family patriarch and ancestor rather fast, it was because they were not battle experts and their cultivation base was pretty low, only one or two levels above Yun Jhin which meant they were akin to punching bags in Yun Jhin’s face.
So Yun Jhin decided to attack the relatively poorer, and weaker Chen family, since they were poor they would also have no such thing as a strong formation like the Kun family so it was even easier to infiltrate amongst their midst and assassinate, subjugate and conquer them.
The south was a rather arid place, as Yun Jhin traveled with his squad the heat around them started to increase by big amounts, their surroundings started to turn from picturesque images to a desert place, cacti plants appeared in their view and vulture-like birds started to circle their party, only for Yun Jhin to glare at them which resulted in fried vultures dropping from the sky into the hands of his squad which they ate.
The further they went into the desert the hotter it became until they reached an oasis, the oasis was quite heavily guarded which indicated they reached the Chen family headquarters, unlike the Kun, Lin, and Han families the Chen family didn’t govern any people, they were the only family that had no subordinates as living in the desert was quite hard for the pampered netizens of the celestial realm, the realm was so big and there were so many good locations, why would they choose the dry southern lands that had only one main oasis?
The Chen family only lived here because they were ordered by the imperial family or else they wouldn’t endure such harsh living conditions, even though the oasis had some food and water the heat was still there and it sapped the stamina of the guards even though they were under the shade of some palm trees, it wasn’t really enough.
Yun Jhin didn’t approach the settlement of the Chen family as he did some hand signals indicating for his squad to disappear, he first analyzed the whole place to see what type of defenses they had and if there was surely no formation at hand, their houses looked to be pretty well constructed from the red ground that could be found around the oasis, which was cool in the day and hot in the night.
After Yun Jhin was done with scouting he realized that there was no formation to say, but the troops were aligned in such a way that they created no blind spots that someone could move through, his subordinates stealth still needed some work so it wasn’t perfect like his yet, so, for now, he had to go by himself to create some pandemonium, attracting the guards from protecting the entrance to the settlement, before letting his squad enter and start the fight properly!
Now that he had a proper plan he disappeared, even though his surroundings made it harder for him to use his stealth he still did it pretty easily, he reached such a high proficiency in stealth that it didn’t matter where he was, he would be able to disappear.
He easily made his way through the guards and entered the settlement, looking around he saw that most of the people wore turbans and wide clothes to keep themselves cool in the day, they were all tanned from living in these conditions for a rather long time but their features were still the same as those of the celestial realm, high noses small jaws and lithe bodies not really packed with muscle.
Of course, the Lin family was an exception because of the bloodline that ran through their veins they were all packed with muscle but it didn’t weigh them down much as their bloodline evolved so did their battle form, in this situation as Yun Jhin analyzed the physiques of the Chen family members he realized that they also had some type of battle mode but he wasn’t sure what it was, after all, they were coming from a waring lineage, while they didn’t have a special bloodline they must have a special technique that everyone could train in.
Yun Jhin wanted both the technique and control over the family… and he was ready to get both at a moment’s notice, right now he was just preparing to bleed dry some of the nearby people to start the pandemonium.
