My Life Or Your Memory - Chapter 105
On the other end of the line, Lu Weiling was staring at his phone, his expression displaying sheer disbelief.
He was a capable young man, and he knew that his sister was not one to prank him, not to mention the seriousness of the voice, he instantly knew that the woman who had called him was not joking.
But why was she trying to get to Xie Jingyu? And why even try to use his useless sister? Everyone knew that Xie Jingyu did not love Lu Changying, so why would this person capture her in an attempt at making Xie Jingyu hand himself over?
When he was about to ask, the phone had already been cut off, and when he tried calling back, it ended on voice mail. It was clear that it had already been turned off.
Feeling a sense of dread, Lu Weiling had no other option than to call Xie Jingyu.
“Weiling,” Xie Jingyu’s calm voice sounded in the phone’s speaker, and for some reason, Lu Weiling suddenly felt more relaxed.
“Jingyu, I need your help,” Lu Weiling went straight to the crux of the matter. “I just got a phone call from some woman. She claims to have captured Lu Changying and that if you do not show up tonight, she will fill her with holes and place her at the front entrance of the Xie Corporation’s main office.”
Xie Jingyu was quiet for a short while, feeling it confusing, but after listening to the slight panic in his friend’s voice, he knew that he was not joking. This was actually a matter of life and death for Lu Changying.
Truthfully, Xie Jingyu did not mind if she died, but he cared about his friendship with Lu Weiling, and thus he knew that he had to get involved in this matter.
“Where did she ask me to meet her?” Xie Jingyu asked with a slight frown on his face.
Yu Huiyin had heard the conversation between Xie Jingyu and Lu Weiling, and while she could feel that Xie Jingyu was not enthusiastic about helping, he had to help because of his friend.
She did not blame him for this, and she just sat down on the couch, observing him preparing to go.
After he had gotten all the information from Lu Weiling, he took out another phone and dialed Bai Lian and a few other higher-ranked members of the Xiyang gang.
Although he was going to save Lu Changying, he was not going to be stupid enough to put himself in danger for her sake.
The work that Xie Jingyu was supposed to do that night had been replaced with planning the rescue mission of Lu Changying, and Yu Huiyin was a little annoyed.
Why had Lu Changying been so stupid that she got herself caught? Also, what kind of kidnapper was it who did not even check the credibility of the hostage’s words.
Anyone with a bit of brain would know that it was Lu Changying who had bragged about her relationship with Xie Jingyu to land her in such a situation.
Xie Jingyu had no special feelings for her, taking her captive was even less effective than kidnapping Lu Weiling. Although he was going to do his best to save her, he would not take any risks.
If the woman had kidnapped Yu Huiyin, then Xie Jingyu would not have done anything to risk her life. He was more willing to be the one who died, rather than put her in danger, so the kidnapper had indeed taken the wrong hostage.
Time crept forward, and Xie Jingyu had prepared everything he needed to prepare for the rescue mission.
“Dearest, you cannot come with me,” he said as he looked at Yu Huiyin. “I cannot risk you being in danger, so go home and wait for me to come home triumphant.”
Yu Huiyin was rather frustrated. She understood Xie Jingyu’s worries and considerations, but how could he not know that she was worried about him?
This was one big trap to lure him out, and now, although he had prepared, he was still going to enter the trap. How could she not worry?
Her eyes looked at him with a lot of unspoken words, she was not sure where to start, but Xie Jingyu said nothing and leaned forward, placing his lips on top of hers, and slowly tasted her sweetness.
It was not a deep kiss, but it was exceptionally lingering. “Wait for me at home,” he said, this time with a bit of overbearing dominance in his voice.
Yu Huiyin lowered her eyes and nodded her head obediently. She left the office and saw that Xie Jingyu had even prepared her bodyguards. They were to take her directly home and ensure that she did not suddenly change her mind on the way.
Feeling slightly bitter, Yu Huiyin returned home to the mansion, where she sat on the sofa. She turned on the TV, and looked at the programs that were being broadcasted, but nothing could catch her attention.
Finally she started watching the news, and could not help but furrow her brows. News about an abandoned factory exploding suddenly occupied the majority of the news channels, and her heart almost stopped beating.
The pictures that had been taken from the air showed the abandoned factory being consumed by flames, but what made Yu Huiyin uncomfortable was that next to the factory were a few cars she could recognize.
They were the ones in which Xie Jingyu, and his entourage, drove away earlier that day.
Shaking slightly, she tried to calm herself down, and she picked up her phone to dial Xie Jingyu, but the call never got through. Her heart felt as if it had dropped into an ice cellar.
