My Life Or Your Memory - Chapter 71
It did not take long for Yu Huiyin to fall into a deep slumber. The gentle touch of Xie Jingyu, alongside the rumbling of the car, made her succ.u.mb to her exhaustion, and her eyes could not stay open.
Seeing her sleeping on his lap like this, Xie Jingyu was feeling his heart swell with happiness. He could not control the feelings that were washing over him as he continued to comb his fingers through her hair.
It was late the next morning when Yu Huiyin finally woke up. She had fallen asleep in the car, resting on Xie Jingyu’s lap, but when she woke up, she was lying in their bed in the mansion.
It was clear that the night before, Xie Jingyu had carried her to the bedroom. He had personally taken the stilettos of her feet, but he had not dared to undress her, so Yu Huiyin was feeling slightly uncomfortable as she woke up, and the dress she had been wearing was a crumbled mess.
Xie Jingyu was nowhere to see, he usually waited for Yu Huiyin to wake up, but this time he had left her on her own, causing her to pause slightly.
She looked around, only to find a small note on the bedside table. The note was written by Xie Jingyu, and it told her to make her way to the office when she had woken up and gotten some breakfast.
Yu Huiyin felt assured after reading the message, and she quickly went to wash up before she got dressed. A maid tried to convince Yu Huiyin to eat breakfast, but she was too hurried, and just waved the maid away, before she hurried to the street to hail a taxi.
When she arrived at the office, she felt that everyone was looking at her with mockery and disdain. She did not need to think long to know that they were unhappy with her showing up so late while they had been working for hours already.
By now, everyone within the office knew that she had gotten her position because of her relationship with Xie Jingyu. All of them looked down on her for this reason, but Yu Huiyin did not care.
She knew that there was nothing glorious by getting a position within the company because of her relationship with Xie Jingyu, but she was not against it. He was her husband; it was natural for him to give her some benefits.
With her head held high, Yu Huiyin went to the elevator, and headed for the top floor where the CEO’s office was located.
While walking past the people, she could hear all sorts of rude rumors, but she was not going to argue with them, as that would just cause even more disgrace for Xie Jingyu.
The workers in the office were all stunned by the fact that she could hold her head high, and look so graceful and elegant, while hearing how some people called her a s.l.u.t or a bitch.
When Yu Huiyin reached the top floor, the majority of the secretaries also looked at her with disdain and disgust, but Yu Huiyin completely ignored them as she headed for the doors to Xie Jingyu’s office.
As she reached it, she wanted to test his limits for her, and she knocked on the door, after which she pushed it open, not waiting to hear a reply from within.
When she opened the door, she saw a very attractive young woman standing in front of Xie Jingyu, who was sitting behind the desk.
Both Xie Jingyu and the woman had looked at the door when it opened, the woman frowning and Xie Jingyu smiling slightly.
“Did we say you could enter?” the woman asked with a cold voice. She was attractive, but she was not as beautiful as Yu Huiyin. While Yu Huiyin had hair that went all the way to her waist, this woman had a short cut of her hair.
This woman was clearly trained much more systematically than Yu Huiyin. It was clear that she trained a lot, and that she had some sort of background in martial arts.
“Oh, Jingyu is not saying anything, but you are already condoning me?” Yu Huiyin asked, a slight cold gleam passed by her eyes. Hearing Yu Huiyin refer to Xie Jingyu as ‘Jingyu,’ the two were shocked. The woman felt uncomfortable, and hatred erupted in her eyes, while Xie Jingyu was feeling as if a cat was gently scratching his heart, making it itch uncontrollably.
It was easy to guess the identity of Yu Huiyin, but the woman who had been in the office from the start knew better than to pick a fight with her at this point in time. She could not let Xie Jingyu see that she was hostile towards Yu Huiyin.
“Huiyin, come here,” Xie Jingyu said as he pushed his chair a bit back. Yu Huiyin obediently went to his side and was dragged down on his lap, after which he possessively wrapped his arm around her waist.
“Bai Lian is amongst my most skilled subordinates,” Xie Jingyu introduced the woman to Yu Huiyin. “This is my wife, Huiyin.”
The women could sense the sparks in the air. Yu Huiyin might not have much experience with romance, but she could see the hostility in the eyes of this figure as clear as day.
But since she was a subordinate to Xie Jingyu, she would endure. Yu Huiyin snorted and nodded her head in greeting.
Seeing her unhappy expression, Xie Jingyu frowned. Why was she suddenly unhappy like this?
