My Life Or Your Memory - Chapter 72
Although Xie Jingyu had never before taken any notice of Bai Lian’s feelings towards him, it did not mean that Yu Huiyin did not notice.
The moment she entered, she saw the hostility in the eyes of Bai Lian, and she could easily guess why. This woman was trying to rob her of her husband!
The more she thought about it, the more she frowned. While Yu Huiyin was clearly unhappy, Bai Lian was feeling unhappy too. How could Xie Jingyu get married so fast? How could he possibly like such a woman like this one, who had nothing but her appearance.
While these two were thinking their own thoughts, Xie Jingyu was puzzled. Why was Yu Huiyin suddenly so unhappy? His heart was beating rapidly, and he felt guilty for no reason. He had done nothing wrong or nothing out of the ordinary, so why had she become mad at him?
Seeing his clueless expression, Yu Huiyin felt that she had gotten enough. He did not even know that this woman had ulterior motives by being close to him, but he still allowed her to be alone with him in the office.
Thinking like this, Yu Huiyin was aware that she was jealous, but she could not control her jealousy. All she wanted was to leave. She was not willing to get sad because of a man.
“Since you and Miss Bai are busy, I will let you be alone.”
Yu Huiyin’s voice was filled with sarcasm, and even Xie Jingyu could sense that something was really wrong.
“Huiyin, darling, please don’t be like this,” Xie Jingyu said gently as he stood up and looked at her with puppy-like pleading eyes. “Come here.”
Yu Huiyin looked away from him, she was feeling distraught, and from this, she could easily understand the degree of liking she had taken to this man.
But this made her even more eager to leave. She had to get control of her thoughts and understand exactly what to do from now on. It was only last night that she realized that Xie Jingyu liked her, but already today, she was full of an unreasonable jealousy.
Seeing her not even wanting to look at him, Xie Jingyu panicked slightly. “Bai Lian, leave for now,” he said before he rose from the chair and hurried to Yu Huiyin’s side.
Here, without even waiting for Bai Lian to leave, he hurriedly wrapped his arms around Yu Huiyin and dragged her into a warm embrace. “Dearest, don’t feel sad. What have I done? You can scold me or hit me, but don’t ignore me.”
Yu Huiyin looked at him. He was so kind to her, so sweet and so loving. How could she possibly not fall for such a man?
Tears welled up in her eyes, as she thought about how the only loved ones she had so far were her grandfather and her brother. Her mother had died; her father abandoned her.
She did not have much faith in relationsh.i.p.s because of her parents, but whenever she thought about the fact that this outstanding man was hers, she could not help but feel pride deep within.
How long had she felt like this? They had not known each other for long, so it was quite shocking that she had already fallen so far, so fast.
Seeing the unshed tears in Yu Huiyin’s eyes, Xie Jingyu panicked. Both of them completely ignored Bai Lian, who was by the side, staring at them with shock and pain in her expression.
Xie Jingyu lowered his head and gently kissed the tears that started falling from her eyes, before he pressed her closer to his chest. “Don’t cry dearest, please don’t cry.”
At the current point in time, Xie Jingyu was unaware of what he had done to cause her such grievances. He just knew that he blamed himself too much for it.
Yu Huiyin buried her face in Xie Jingyu’s chest, and she wrapped her arms around his waist, pressing herself against his sturdy body, feeling secure, and calm slowly returned to her.
It was unknown how long Yu Huiyin and Xie Jingyu were standing there, embracing one another and feeling better, but when Yu Huiyin finally managed to calm herself down, she looked around.
It was embarrassing that she had suddenly become so emotional, and she felt quite bad.
It was never her intention to cause problems for Xie Jingyu, but the moment she saw him with another woman, a woman who clearly liked him, she suddenly realized that she could not be without him any longer.
Xie Jingyu had become the pillar of support to her, he had become the man she had fallen in love with, but would it last? She was scared of getting hurt again. Not even her father wanted her, and he had children with at least two mistresses while still being married to her mother.
Not to mention, nowadays, divorces were not so uncommon in the public as they were back in the day. But she was starting to feel greedy. She wanted Xie Jingyu only to herself.
“Dearest?” Xie Jingyu called out when he felt that she had stopped trembling and that she was just cuddling against his chest.
“I’m sorry,” she said with a slightly hoarse voice, and she raised her head, her eyes red and swollen, but she did not look ungraceful. Instead, she was so pitiful that any man would be struck with the urge to protect her.
“Don’t be sorry,” Xie Jingyu quickly said, as he led Yu Huiyin towards the couch. It was at this point in time he noticed the strange expression on Bai Lian’s face, and he could not help but frown.
“Why are you still here?”
