My Life Or Your Memory - Chapter 75
Xie Jingyu was not looking at Bai Lian. Instead, he kept his head lowered and was looking at some doc.u.ments on the desk.
“You can continue,” he said to Bai Lian, waiting for her to continue her report about the Xiyang Gang. Unfortunately, she was fighting hard to go against her hatred, and her hands were clutching the papers tightly, she simply did not hear his words.
Lifting his head, Xie Jingyu saw that Bai Lian had an ugly expression on her face, and he frowned.
“Bai Lian!” he called out, his voice cold, and the woman finally reacted. She quickly straightened up her expression and she cleared her throat.
“Boss, we have dealt with the aftermath of what happened in Siyang City. We have also managed to kill all the ones who opposed you and we have taken over the entire underworld. We have ordered the gangs that while they can continue like before, all dealings with drugs have to be ceased instantly.
“To those who previously specialized in doing business with drugs, we have given them the option of becoming law-abiding citizens and joining the Xie Corporation, or if they want to switch to dealing with other merchandise.”
Xie Jingyu nodded his head. He was expecting this result. Although he was a coldblooded person, he refused to accept drugs, and he was also against selling weapons to ordinary people. What happened in the dark, stayed in the dark. He was not willing to drag others into the darkness unless they ventured into it voluntarily.
“Boss, we need you to leave the country this weekend. Those from across the sea are waiting for you to solve a massive issue with our latest batch of goods.”
Xie Jingyu frowned. He had just gotten sweet with Yu Huiyin, he was not willing to leave her, but knowing that the latest batch of goods was immensely valuable, he was not likely left with much of a choice.
Seeing him frown, Bai Lian was feeling bad. Could it be that he was not willing because of the vixen? This was scandalous! How could she influence him so much?
“We are taking the private plane then,” He said with a sigh and leaned back against the chair. “Make it as quick as you can; I need to hurry back home to my wife.”
Bai Lian was slightly disgruntled to hear that, but she felt much better when thinking about the fact that he was, no matter what, still going to the other country, even when he had such an alluring woman by his side.
She did not mean as much as she thought.
Smiling sweetly at Xie Jingyu, Bai Lian tried to make herself seem as attractive as possible, as she placed the papers on the desk. She leaned forward, displaying her cleavage, and her breathing heated up as she thought about Xie Jingyu looking at her.
Xie Jingyu was indeed looking at her, but he could not help but compare her to Yu Huiyin. Oh, how he wanted to hold Yu Huiyin in his arms.
Bai Lian slowly went closer and closer; she imagined that they were in a deep sensual moment, that Xie Jingyu was gazing into her eyes, and her own eyes were filled with stars and l.u.s.t.
This was what Yu Huiyin saw when she exited the lounge area, and her heart constricted painfully.
Her eyes, which had been swollen from crying, were back to normal. She seemed as if the fragile and weak woman she was before was nowhere to be seen.
It was at this moment that Xie Jingyu noticed that Bai Lian was so close to him. He had been busy thinking about Yu Huiyin, but now he saw that another woman had gotten close to him. He suddenly felt queasy and guilty.
Bai Lian also noticed that Yu Huiyin had exited the lounge room. She carefully straightened herself, and casually sat her clothes more conservatively, but she shot a provocative glance at Yu Huiyin, as if to tell her that this man was actually hers.
Yu Huiyin just glanced at the two, before she snorted and left the office. She did not actually think that there was anything between them, she had faith in Xie Jingyu, but she was still unhappy.
He claimed to like her, but there he was, allowing another woman to be so close to him. That was unacceptable.
Xie Jingyu had been stunned when he saw the aloof expression on Yu Huiyin’s face as she looked at him and Bai Lian being so close.
In fact, it finally dawned on him that they had been far too close, and that anyone who saw it would find it ambiguous.
His face turned dark; his eyes were lighting up with anger. Bai Lian looked at him in shock, not sure about what she should do.
She had never before given Xie Jingyu any hints of her feelings, but now things were different. She was feeling threatened and uncomfortable. It was clear that this woman was already his wife, and if they had some tender affection between them, she would never succeed in becoming Madam Xie.
“Miss Bai,” Xie Jingyu sounded sullen as his voice was cold.
“I am a married man. I do not wish to see you make a fool out of yourself, so let me be clear about this – I love my wife very much, and I have no intention of cheating on her. I hope you can give us your blessing, or at least not do anything that will put us in a tough spot. Trying to seduce me is not what I expected from my competent employee.”
Bai Lian’s face turned pale, and she staggered backward. She had never before heard words that hurt so much as these.
