My Life Or Your Memory - Chapter 76
Having said this, Xie Jingyu stood up, he left the office without looking back, and Bai Lian, who knew him well, was aware that he was not happy. Not happy at all.
She regretted. She had been impulsive because of Yu Huiyin, and now Xie Jingyu knew of her feelings for him. He was going to trust her less in the future.
Gritting her teeth, Bai Lian looked at the vanishing back of Xie Jingyu, and she could not control the hatred in her heart as she dug her fingernails into her palms.
Blood began seeping out through the small cuts in her palm. Unfortunately, Xie Jingyu did not turn around to look at her at all. Instead, he had left the office in a rush, clearly going to look for Yu Huiyin.
Bai Lian was correct. He had indeed planned on looking for Yu Huiyin, and the moment he exited the office, he saw Assistant Song coming towards him.
“Find Huiyin right away!” Xie Jingyu said, his voice full of coldness and anger, and Assistant Song could not help but feel uncomfortable. What had angered him this much? Was it madam?
He began fearing for what might happen to Yu Huiyin if she was found, but he dared not go against his boss’ orders, so he hurried around looking through the entire office trying to find her, but to no avail.
He went to check the surveillance office, only to find that her expression seemed wrong as she walked out of the office with hurried steps.
Xie Jingyu was uncomfortable, as he saw the videos of Yu Huiyin leaving so decisively, and he felt his heart ache when he was reminded of how she had cried before.
He could not help but feel guilty. Why on earth had he allowed Bai Lian to get between them?
Xie Jingyu took his phone, and after calling home, only to hear that she was not there, he hesitated slightly, but in the end, he still called Grandpa Han.
“Grandpa, is Huiyin at your place?” he asked worriedly. “No, she has not been here since last time you were here together.”
A silence erupted on the phone, and Grandpa Han suddenly could not help but ask, “are you quarreling?”
“We just confirmed our feelings for one another,” Xie Jingyu said, not hiding anything from the old man. “But one of my subordinates incriminated me, and I am afraid that she is sad and worried that she might misunderstand.”
Grandpa Han was happy that everything was being told honestly to him, and he considered the situation. “She is very calm, and she would not be swayed by fake rumors. I am sure that she is not blaming you unless you truly let her down. Perhaps she just needs some time to herself?”
Xie Jingyu felt a bit better, but at the same time, he was not comfortable. “I got to run,” he said on the phone and ended the call with Grandpa Han.
Then he dialed another number. “Xiao Yu, I need to find Huiyin. She left the company around half an hour ago, use the surveillance on the streets to locate her.”
“Sure, hacking government surveillance is as easy as stealing candy from a baby. I will get her current location to you shortly.”
The short moment felt like an eternity to Xie Jingyu, but when he finally received the call, he was trembling while picking it up.
“Where is she?”
“She entered the slums. You know as well as I do that there is no surveillance there, I could not locate her exact location.”
The one who spoke was apologetic, but Xie Jingyu had a good idea of where she had gone, and he hurriedly left the office and drove towards the slums.
The drive took much longer than Yu Huiyin’s trip, which had made use of the underground and train routes. While she had arrived at the slums in half an hour, it took him an hour and fifteen minutes to reach it.
When he finally reached the slums, his heart was in his chest. It was true that Yu Huiyin usually had a good relationship with the ones in the slums, but that was before she became wealthy. Now she was wearing quality clothes, and she looked like a tender target to kidnap. His heart was full of discomfort.
He hurriedly drove to the place where she had lived before, only to find that she was not there. New tenants had already moved in.
He was starting to panic. He called her cellphone, but it was not being answered, and he was swearing to himself that he would put a GPS on her smartphone when she got home.
He was so agitated that he called his men, and ordered the Xiyang Gang to start combing the slums from start to end, he was not giving up before he found her.
Finally, after three hours of searching, one of the men from the Xiyang Gang located her. Instead of interacting with her, they contacted Xie Jingyu so that he could go to her himself.
She was seated in an old flat, although it was worn down, it was not in as bad a condition as the one where Yu Huiyin had lived before.
This home belonged to an old grandmother, who had no children and had a hard time affording her living expenses.
Often Yu Huiyin helped her, and now when she had felt uncomfortable, she had instantly gone to Grandma Mo’s place to help her out in an attempt to forget the sad thoughts.
When Xie Jingyu saw that she was okay, his suspended heart finally relaxed, and he slowly went there, while sending the many Xiyang Gang members away again.
