My Life Or Your Memory - Chapter 81
Xie Jingyu looked at Bai Lian. It was as if his eyes could see the ugliness of her inner thoughts, that he could see her jealousy and her anger.
“What I do with my casinos, why would I need your opinion on it?” he asked aloofly, but his words made Bai Lian choke in discomfort.
It was true that everything they had belonged to Xie Jingyu. He could do whatever he wanted with it, and they, as his underlings, had to accept any order that was given to them.
But she was not convinced. Why would he make such a big sacrifice for the sake of peace during a month. Was his wedding ceremony that important?
“There are currently forty-six casinos on the island. I own sixteen of these, so even if I give one away, I will still own around a third of them all. It does not change much for me; however, what I can gain is much more than just peace.
“Mo Jinyao and I have had some battles, and our groups often end up in a fight against one another from time to time, if we can get a cooperation-like relationship with them, it will mean more peace for us to do what we focus on.
“Not to mention, I do not want any trouble during my wedding ceremony. I am also going to contact the other gangs and warn them not to cause any problems during that month.
“Although I can warn them, I will even give them a sweet date after hitting them.
“I do not want any trouble to arise during that month, what the others do is their problem, as long as they don’t come and cause me problems.”
“Does Madam know you do so much for her?” one of the men asked with admiration. “If she knew how much you are sacrificing for her, she would be honored and touched. Who knows, she might even throw herself into your arms and offer herself to you for the rest of her life.”
The man said it casually, but the moment Xie Jingyu heard it, a slightly wicked smile flitted across his lips. Was she throwing herself at him? That would be amazing if she did.
But he quickly shook his head. “She can’t know about this,” he said decisively. “I don’t want her to know about the Xiyang Gang yet. She is too gentle; I fear that she can’t accept that I am in charge of a gang.”
“Well, it isn’t a gang as such boss,” one of the men tried to appease him. “Although we also have a gang, our main focus is the weapon trade. It can be debated that you are an arms dealer.”
The more the man spoke, the uglier Xie Jingyu’s face became. If Yu Huiyin knew that he was an arms dealer, she would not stay by his side.
Just the thought of her wanting to leave him was enough to make him so panicked that his heart started to hurt.
He wanted to destroy the world if she left him; he would do anything to make her stay by his side, so he was not going to ever tell her about his other power.
He had the Xiyang Gang as a cover for a company that manufactured and traded with weapons. Although the company was somewhat legal, it was also involved in smuggling weapons, and that was considered illegal. Hence he could be regarded as an arms dealer.
Even so, he had his own rules for who he wanted to sell weapons to, and he always made sure to investigate his clients thoroughly.
But would Yu Huiyin ever let him explain if she found out the truth? Would she just vanish from his life? He did not know, but he was scared. Because of being so frightened, he did everything in his power to keep the truth from Yu Huiyin, but he felt immensely guilty about it too.
He could not accept being dishonest with Yu Huiyin. She was so important to him, but nothing was more important than her staying by his side.
The men were worried as they saw the gloom on their Boss’ face, but they did not know what to say.
Bai Lian was, however, suddenly enlightened. So Yu Huiyin would leave Xie Jingyu if she knew the truth about his business? Perhaps she should find time to visit Yu Huiyin and tell her the truth.
Xie Jingyu did not notice the cold gleam in Bai Lian’s eyes, he was too busy feeling guilty towards Yu Huiyin, and he did not care about Bai Lian at all, so he did not even glance her way.
After leaving the chamber, Xie Jingyu did not care about others any longer. He went to his car and drove directly to the flat belonging to Yu Huiyin’s family.
As he arrived, it was already way past midnight. Yu Huiyin was the only one still awake, and she was feeling uncomfortable. She had not heard anything from Xie Jingyu since he left her, and she had sent him numerous texts.
She was seated in her room, the guest room, and looking out the window in a daze. Suddenly she saw a familiar car parking below the window, and she hurried to dr.a.p.e a jacket over her body before she ran outside.
Xie Jingyu left the car and looked up at the flat. He saw that there was still light on in her room, and a tender and a loving smile flitted across his lips.
He began moving towards the elevator, and he could hardly wait for it to arrive, yet when it did, and the door opened, he was greeted by Yu Huiyin’s face looking at him with love and concern.
