My Life Or Your Memory - Chapter 84
The next morning, when Yu Huiyin woke up, she found that she was alone in the bed. Xie Jingyu was nowhere to be seen.
She did not care too much about it; she knew that he was a busy person, so he likely had to leave earlier for work.
She slowly left the bed, found some clothes, and headed for the bathroom, where she quickly washed up and got dressed.
As she looked in the mirror, her eyes widened in shock. On her neck was a small but very obvious red mark. It was clearly a love mark left by Xie Jingyu the night before, and it was left in such a position that she could not hide it, nor mask it.
She looked around to find her makeup, but then she was reminded that all her items had been left in the slums, and when they moved here, they had brought nothing with them.
She had also not bought any new makeup since she had not been living in the flat. She felt her scalp go numb at the thought of going out to see her grandfather and younger brother with a mark like this on her neck.
Taking a deep breath, she knew she had no choice. She had to go to work today, and she could not be late.
Having realized that she would have to face her family sooner or later, she slapped her cheeks lightly and went out of the bathroom.
Both her grandfather and younger brother were in the kitchen. They were eating breakfast, and both of them were happy when she arrived. Xie Jingyu was nowhere to be seen.
Looking at her, their pupils constricted when the obvious red mark on her neck came into view, but they said nothing.
Grandpa Han found some food for Yu Huiyin, and Yu Feihong narrowed his eyes as he looked at his sister.
“Did Xie Jingyu come by yesterday?” Grandpa Han finally asked, and Yu Huiyin, who knew she could not hide it, nodded her head, feeling immensely bashful.
“You are already married, so it makes sense for him to follow you, but be aware that you are six years younger than him. Although you are married, you might not be ready to be a mother yet.”
Yu Huiyin’s face flushed red, and she nodded her head. “Don’t worry,” she said hurriedly. She quickly ate her food and almost fled the apartment in fear of her grandfather saying another word.
Looking at her rapid retreat, Grandpa Han snorted, but he also felt that it was good that she was finally acting like a young girl.
As she left the apartment complex, she went to the main road, hailed a taxi, and headed towards the office.
Here she was met by numerous questioning gazes, and as she walked towards the elevator, she heard the mumbling voices debate her.
“Do you think she is the Madam of the company?”
“Maybe she is just CEO Xie’s mistress.”
“She does not look like a young lady from a noble family. I doubt she is his wife.”
“To think she is seducing a married man.”
Many such topics were being discussed all over the company, but Yu Huiyin held her head high. She was not a mistress; she was his legitimate wife!
As she reached the top floor, Assistant Song was waiting for her. Seeing her arrive, he quickly bowed to her, “Madam, CEO Xie is waiting for you in the office.”
It was evident to everyone that Xie Jingyu had told him to say this intentionally. Although Xie Jingyu was not one to care about corporate gossip, he was not willing to have people cursing his wife, hence he just directly informed his secretaries that this woman was his wife by having Assistant Song calling her Madam in front of them all.
As long as they knew it, then the rest of the company would also know it within a very short amount of time.
And rightfully so. Right after Assistant Song led Yu Huiyin into the office, the secretaries opened their phones and bragged on the group chat that belonged to the corporate employees.
In a few moments, everyone knew that the new assistant was not Xie Jingyu’s mistress, but the actual wife, and they felt amazed. They had no idea about who she was, what background she had, or anything like that.
But somehow, she had become the wife of Xie Jingyu, and from the act of having Assistant Song so polite to her, it was clear that he genuinely cared about her.
When Yu Huiyin entered the office, she found that Xie Jingyu was buried in doc.u.ments. His eyes did not leave the papers at all, and a frown could be seen on his handsome face.
Seeing this, Yu Huiyin’s heart ached for him. He was always so busy and working so hard, but he was only one person. To be able to take care of everything at the same time had to be hard.
She quietly sat down on her chair, but she did not begin working on her own papers but looked at Xie Jingyu with worry. What could she do to help him?
She did not have any bachelor’s or master’s degree; she had never gone to college or university before.
She was not suited to help him with the things that were troubling him, but she still wanted to do what she could.
While being deep in thought, she did not notice that Xie Jingyu looked up, his eyes landing on her dazed expression and eyes that were staring at him undisguised.
He could not help but smile slightly and move towards her, and it was not before he stood right in front of her that she snapped out of her daze.
