My (Monster?) Hero Life - Chapter 332
Kace ran towards the Golem’s head while swinging his hammer. However, the Bone Golem ignored him while continuing to chase after Constance. ‘Damn! I’m right here!’ Kace’s eyes flashed with fury as he slammed Sylvan into the Golem’s jaw. A deafening cracking noise rang out as the bone fractured!
Kace grinned broadly, with a mad look in his eye. The Golem paused in its tracks just long enough to run a hand over the fracture. The enormous head creaked as it turned to stare at Kace’s figure with its empty eye socket. Even Kace felt something was off with the way it appeared to glare at him.
‘Isn’t this thing just a puppet?’ Kace frowned as he stared at it. ‘Hm?’
The Golem attempted to shake him off while taking a swing at him. However, Kace dived from the Golem’s shoulder and sped between the bones that made up its ribcage. ‘I can’t go to the ground. The undead will overwhelm me. I have to bring it down here.’ A deep frown appeared on Kace’s face as he used Kinetic Vision.
His hydra head sent images of the Golem trying to reach for him between its bones. Kace performed a quick flip during his dive and kicked off of the rib to his side to escape the Golem’s grasp. Kace cursed as the boney finger grazed him. The size of the finger was just too large for Kace to entirely outrun it.
‘Maybe I can use its size against it?’ Kace studied how the Golem struggled to reach between specific gaps in its body. ‘Lets take a look.’
Kace bounced around like a pinball in the hollow spaces of the Golem. His golden eyes never missed a single movement that the Golem made in an attempt to catch him. ‘Maybe I can make it angry enough to smash itself.’ Kace had a glint in his eyes as a plan took form. He instantly changed his trajectory to shoot straight towards the Golem’s jaw!
The behemoth was too slow to catch him as he shot out from behind its collar bone! Kace swung Sylvan with a huge grin on his face. The hammer struck the already fractured jaw bone and completely snapped it in half! There was a grinding noise as the two halves slipped away from each other. Leaving the Golem to look hideously disfigured!
Kace quickly turned in the air and shot back down inside of the safety of the Golem’s own body! A huge smile appeared on Kace’s face as he watched the Golem struggle to decide what to do. ‘If I can keep this up, it will fall eventually!’ Even if it did not, then Kace was certain that he could keep it busy for long enough to allow help to arrive.
Suddenly, the Golem’s limbs stopped trying to track him. Kace raised an eyebrow as he stared at the creature’s face, only to see its empty sockets seemingly looking at the horde of undead below. A sudden thought struck Kace as he saw that. ‘Oh no. Don’t tell me! Venomous Thread!’
The sticky substance flowed from his hand and attached itself to the giant undead’s spine! Kace’s palms were sweating as he quickly pulled himself towards the spinal column and strapped himself in, using more thread. ‘Just in time!’
His enemy started to fall forwards… It had realised that it could not catch the pest troubling it on its own. However, there were thousands of undead on the ground that could reach Kace if it just lay down! A sickening squelch could be heard from the undead that still had any flesh, and organs were crushed beneath its massive frame. Kace blinked as a splash of black blood almost landed in his eyes.
When he opened them again, he felt a sense of helplessness washing over him. Within that brief second, thousands of undead were swarming over the blackened bones of the Golem. Each of them reached out towards Kace! ‘Shit, I have to get out of here!’ Kace had Sylvan switch form into a dagger to cut himself free. He had to cast a plague spear below and detonate it to clear a landing area.
The undead groaned as they were torn to shreds, but they were replaced by those who had been waiting behind them. Kace’s eyes swiftly swept over them and he realised he could not get away. ‘I’ll need to do it.’ Kace sighed as he prepared himself to allow his beast form to take over.
Right then, a sound like thunder rang out over the city. It took the first few bright flashes and scattered body parts to happen before Kace realised where he knew that sound from! As Kace’s foot touched the ground, he sprinted for the gap in the horde that had been created by the cannon fire. His sight turned to look at the sky above him as he escaped from the shadow of the Golem’s looming body.
The airship hovered overhead, with excited goblins and orcs manning its cannons. There was a squealing war cry from the ship as enchanted projectiles rained down on Constance’s minions. With the Golem already in a weakened state from Rysa’s attacks, its bones could not keep up with the fresh bombardment.
As bone dust flew into the air, Kace used the opportunity to smash his way through the remaining horde using Stampede. His eyes were now scanning in the direction that Rysa had flown off in. ‘Gyn can handle the Golem. The airship is much better suited to such a fight. I just hope Rysa has held out long enough.’
He hated to admit it, but he was actually worried about Rysa’s condition. The green flames had almost overtaken her entire body when she snatched Constance away. ‘Can she hold out til I get there?’
A flash of purple light shone out from somewhere outside of the city. It was so bright that anyone with eyes could see it. Kace slid to a halt as he looked at the wonderful sight. ‘Rysa… What did you do?’
