123 When my big brother gave what I asked for.
“So, Miss Hua, how does the marriage ceremony continue from here?” he asked, and finally, all four women’s gazes came to rest on him. That was a serious question.
Liyue held his hand tighter and said with worry, “We really seem to have chosen a bad day, Big Brother; I hope there are no big issues.”
Han Li didn’t reply to her, and his gaze focused on Hua Feilan.
“Young Master Han, we do what we are paid for, and you don’t have to worry,” Hua Feilan said with a graceful smile. “I have by now managed 3998 marriages, and none of them had failed. What to say, even though the Hua Matchmaker Association is just budding its roots in Southern Lust through the last decade, we have been doing business outside for years.”
Han Li nodded. “Miss Hua and her association have great prestige; I have often heard of its great stories.”
Pleased, Hua Feilan nodded and looked at Liyue. “I might seem like a simple woman because I am your close friend, but don’t think so simply of me. I am an Evolved, and I have also called for backup just in case to my Association manager; he is also an Evolved. So, you have two Evolved protecting this place from here, and then there is also the Starlight Family Evolved who would protect you, too. There is nothing to worry about in that regard.”
Liyue nodded, feeling less worried. “But does such things happen often, Big Brother? This seems so sudden and so out of nowhere; I wonder why the Clan Head was so angry.”
Han Li shook his head. “Something significant must’ve happened for the Clan Head to lose his temper and reveal his appearance, but I don’t think it will affect the ceremony.”
Hua Feilan noted how Liyue seemed reliant on Han Li a lot in her mind and said duly, “The next part of the ceremony would be the blood oath event, and after that, the groom and bride will kowtow to their parents and get their blessing. If it is completed, that means you are married. Then we can serve the dishes to the guests. It is all set.”
Han Li looked at Liyue’s veiled face. He could feel how tightly she held his hand.
She was really anticipating today.
“Shall we begin?”
Liyue nodded like a bird pecking race.
Han Li held her hands and looked at the mirror for one final time.
He silently connected telepathically with Liyue. “Are you nervous, Liyue?”
Liyue was a bit surprised, but she held on to her big brother’s hand and just tightened her hold to show her response. “No need to be nervous, Liyue; your big brother is with you. Just leave everything to me and follow in my footsteps. I’ll lead you.”
Liyue looked at him.
Then she looked around at all the people around.
They were each looking at her with supportive expressions. She smiled under her veil.
Then walked in front of Han Li and hugged him.
Han Li was a bit surprised but gently patted her head.
“Liyue, have some confidence in yourself now. For me to show off at least how great a wife I had gotten,” Han Li said to her calmly. But to Liyue, she could hear how much confidence he had in her.
Honestly, she was an unconfident woman to herself. Incapable of much greatness. But her brother Han had far more belief in herself than she herself did.
Images flickered in her mind.
He had always cared for her like a younger sister, a baby of his. He was so caring and gentle that she sometimes wondered whether he was really her… fiance.
Was she that lucky?
She had seen and understood that he had another part to himself that she hadn’t seen. A crueler, more ruthless part that was not anything that she or her mothers understood or knew of. But she had no doubts. In her life, her only man was Han Li. Her Big Brother Han.
Whatever he was, she had decided. Of course, there were little ambitions in her mind, too. She did want to make her big brother more of a good, righteous man. For that, though, she had to learn more about him and understand who he was.
And she was ready to dedicate her life to that.
She said with a soft tone, “Let’s just complete this and go back to our usual simple home. That is far better than here with all this.”
Han Li nodded.
“Miss Hua, let’s begin.”
…
Han Li and Liyue stood in the middle of a crowd of people. Men, women, rich, poor—it was a mix of all that filled the forest clearing. In the birth of noon, the shadows in the forest made the whole place a comfortable area to stay at while all of them looked at the two about to become one with interest.
The poor but clean beggars stood to one corner while the proper people stood to another side, and around another corner were the Clan people of the Starlight Family.
As the people bustled with excitement at the delicious smell permeating the area, Hua Feilan stood in front of Han Li and Liyue, asking, “I ask in the name of heaven and earth, standing as a guardian to your union. Say, Han Li of the Starlight Family, Son of Yue Li, do you wish to marry Liyue of the Starlight Family, daughter of Li Yao wholeheartedly?”
Han Li looked at the red-veiled, beautiful woman whose hand was now sweating in his grasp and nodded. “I wholeheartedly agree to the marriage.”
Hua Feilan nodded seriously and asked Liyue next. “Do you agree to the Groom’s proposal?”
“Yes, I do.” Liyue nodded. Gett your 𝒇avorite 𝒏ovels at no/v/e/lb𝒊n(.)com
“Please conjoin your blood.”
Hua Feilan then cut a small wound on their thumbs, and Han Li and Liyue gently touched it together.
A long silence followed before Li Ming started to clap from the side while one of his many boyfriends rubbed his wet eyes.
“Both the wife and husband may now kneel to their parents or guardian.”
Han Li and Liyue moved to stand before Yue Li and Li Yao, who were standing together beside Hua Feilan.
Then, they both gently kowtowed on the grassy ground, and with moist eyes, their respective parent pulled them up and gave their blessings with pure love.
“Serve the dishes!” someone yelled, and it was soon followed by many uniformed men coming out of the forest with trays of food and tables.
It was men of the Hua Matchmaking Association.
In Liyue’s mind, Han Li gently whispered, “Little Wife, there are many things that follow marriage, so be prepared. But for now, let’s just eat.”
Han Li smirked as her hands tightened his hand.
She leaned towards his ears and asked with a smile, “I was thinking I needed something as a wedding gift. Can I get something? To remember today…”
“Oh, when did my Liyue start to ask for things herself?”
“When my big brother began to give her what she asked for.”
