My Naughty Fake Bride - 102 It’s the Glove’s Faul
Han Feng waited for everyone to settle down. It takes a while for the sisters to stop talking, however, probably because they have not seen each other for a while now. So he silently listened to their bickering.
“I thought you both had sold that apartment,” Han Feng suddenly said when one of the twins suddenly spoke about it. At this time, his eyes were closed, and he looked so relaxed the sisters thought he was sleeping. So they thought.
Han Mei chewed her lip, weary of answering. She had told him she sold the house. He had met the ‘couple’ she sold the house to.
But the couple had been her friends, and she had paid for the house with her money. If her father’s goons had dug a little deeper, they would have found the house was owned under Han Jie’s name.
“I will now,” Han Mei replied her father solemnly. She had not wanted to disappoint her father, but she had not wanted to give up the apartment either. She had known that one day the apartment was going to be useful to her, and she had been right. That was what Han Jie had thought so as well before.
“You do not expect me to believe you do you?” Han Feng asked his daughter, neutrally. He was clearly upset that his daughter had lied to him before. It seems as well that her running away was planned for a while now, since the selling just happened a couple of days before she suddenly disappeared.
Han Mei winced at her father’s words and shook her head. She was glad he had closed his eyes. She wouldn’t have been to deal with the disappointment in his eyes.
“No, father.” Han Mei finally replied. She subconsciously looked at Han Jie and realized that her sister also has a guilty expression.
“Good. You would give all the necessary information about the house to your cousin. He’ll see to the actual selling of the house.” Han Feng said before sitting up and opening his eyes.
“Yes father.” Han Mei said, her eyes downcast.
“Good. How are you feeling?” Han Feng asked his daughter again for the second time today.
I’m okay, father,” Han Mei replied. She felt her sister hold her hand. Han Mei clutched her hand tight. Han Mei felt her sister squeeze her hand, which staved off her impending panic attack.
“Who was that man? At the house,” Han Jun asked, taking his cue from his uncle.
Han Mei frowned, confused about how Han Jun had learned about it.
“Security told me,” Han Jun said when he saw the twins’ expression.
Immediately Han Jie glared at Jonah, who was not far from them. Jonah, at this time, was looking somewhere else, pretending not to know what was going on.
Nevertheless, Han Mei needed to answer, “Oh, I don’t know him,” She said, relieved they had not demanded to know more about the main issue.
“Where is he now?” Han Jie curiously asked. She knew the guy from the Suzuki Offices. She already passed out before she even knew more details about him.
Han Mei frowned, “Suzuki Kyou had him arrested…” She murmured. “Are you sure” Han Jun asked the steel in his voice daring Han Mei to deny knowing him. He was thinking about the information that they gather before regarding a man Han Mei saw before she runs away.
“Why would he do that? Are you sure you don’t know that guy? He is not your hidden boyfriend or something, right?” Han Jie could not help but probe more.
Han Mei glared at her sister, “I really don’t know him. In fact, he was looking for you.” She said pointedly.
“Huh? Why me?” Han Jie asked, dumbfounded. “I believe I know him,” Jonah said, suddenly speaking up. Everyone turned to look at him. He and Bai Min had been standing off to the side, amused at the family dynamics playing out before them.
But since his little boss was not catching up to the conversion, he would jump in to help. Probably it was also his way to make up for his recent spilling of information that caused Han Jie’s displeasure. “What? Who is that guy?” Han Jun demandingly asked, surprised.
Bai Min looked at Jonah like he had been crazy for speaking up. “During Miss Han Jie’s first visit to the Suzuki offices, that was the man that had helped Miss Han Jie and I,” Jonah said, the words pouring out of him in quick torrents.
“Jonah, I know that he is working in the Suzuki Corp. What I’m trying to know is the reason why he is with MeiMei.” She said disapprovingly.
Jonah smiled nervously. He was most definitely not enjoying Han Jie’s disapproving stare. When he averted his gaze, he was happy to know that the others weren’t looking disapproving. He was curious.
He should just shut up as it was never a good idea to have anything to do with her little boss when she was not happy with you.
“He said that you own the glove that he gave me. He also helped me when I don’t have a ride” Han Mei said, a piece of the puzzle solved.
“What glove?” Han Jun said picking up only a part of his cousin’s statement. He knew he was going to question her after this part of the puzzle was complete.
“He gave me a glove. He said I forgot from the last time I came here,” Han Mei said, explaining herself. “I mean, you are the one who forgot it.” She said while looking at Han Jie.
“So it’s the glove’s fault? But the first time I went to the office was a couple of days ago,” Han Jie began looking confused,”And I’ve been going back almost every day since. Why didn’t he give me then? Probably he did not see me that time?” She doesn’t have a bad impression of the guy. In fact, she was feeling bad that he got involved with their family matters.
Han Mei shrugged, “He seems to want to talk to you alone. Well, he does not seem so bad,” She said while looking at Han Jie knowingly. She could not just blurt out that the guy wanted to court Han Jie.
“You never went alone did you” Bai Min asked, finally contributing to the conversation at hand. Han Jun looked almost proud of the question. Bai Min shifted uncomfortably from one foot to another, his heart rate increasing.
“No, I always had Jonah,” Han Jie said, squinting like she could see her memories right in front of her.
“Which means he had the guts to talk to you because you were alone? What did he want from you,?” Han Jun said, leaning forward, his elbows on his knees. He looked so displeased.
“As I said, he did not seem like a bad guy. JieJie can talk to him once Suzuki Kyou let him go,” Han Mei said ignoring her cousin’s second question.
“How do we help him then?” Han Mei became worried and feeling guilty. The guy was only helping out. Why does he need to be treated as if he was a criminal?
“Answer all the questions Han Mei” Han Feng said, staring intently at the mini bar in the living room. He was interested to hear about any man who seems to be stepping the boundaries to talk to his daughter.
Bai Min noted the longing in Han Feng’s eyes and got him a shot of whiskey.
Han Feng smiled brilliantly at Bai Min before downing the shot in one gulp and handing the glass back to Bai Min.
Han Mei had flinched away from her father’s command, almost folding into herself. She felt her sister squeeze her palm comfortingly. Han Mei drew her strength from the gesture and spoke.
“Er… There are a lot of questions though…” She whispered, before speaking louder, “I, as I said, he seems to think that I am JieJie. So technically he wanted to speak with her, not me. Also, I already talked to Suzuki Kyou about him and assured that there was nothing going on between us.” She explained as she remembered how the man responded when Xia Wei was mentioned…
