My Naughty Fake Bride - 85 The Amazing Han family
“You don’t?” Suzuki Kyou asked as he looked at her with a very suspicious deep frown.
Han Mei chuckled nervously, “I mean, I don’t like it now…” She lied carefully. The feeling of guilt was unmistakable to the point that her face became hot for embarrassment. She was even questioning herself for lying.
Since she wanted to ask him to cancel the engagement, and wouldn’t it be best to be as honest as possible. After all, there was already the engagement party, and it must have cost Suzuki Family a lot of money to even organize.
‘Wait… What if they demand us to pay for the damages? What if the scandal is too much too handle?’ Han Mei thought to herself with worry. However, that was something she needed to worry about later.
Suzuki Kyou looked at her expressionlessly that made her feel like he could see through her lie. “Do you still don’t feel well?” He asked after a moment of silence.
Then Han Mei remembered that it was just recent that Han Jie lost consciousness when she was chasing after her. “I can manage.” She replied with a tight smile.
“You should be resting. You looked pale. The party might have made you tired last night.” He said with a small smile, his eyes looking at her softly.
With him acting this way, Han Mei felt confused. ‘Why is he acting like he cared? It was all a marriage agreement for business.’
She shook her head, “I need to talk to you. Something very important,” Han Mei carefully said as she swallowed her nervousness and then gathered some courage from who knows where.
Suzuki Kyou small smile immediately disappeared. He did not reply for a few seconds that felt like an eternity for Han Mei. Finally, he inclined his head and nodded.
With this, Han Mei stood up, stepped towards his and closer to his desk. She then got down to her knees and held her hands out as if in prayer.
What are you doing?” He asked, toned hard, laced with warning.
She ignored the dangerous feeling that she immediately felt from him. “I’m sorry. I can’t get married to you. Please, let me go…” She softly spoke, tone full of begging. Han Mei just hoped that it was enough.
Han Mei could not look at him. That was why she continued to kneel while looking at her hands or the floor. She was patiently waiting despite her legs, getting uncomfortable with her current position. However, she was too coward to look up at his expression or to stand up. She was already at this point and hoped to get through it until the end.
The room felt oppressive. She could feel his gaze penetrating her every being, and it was a very hostile one.
Bang!
Bang!
Crash!
There were also bits of glasses as well as parts of shuttered mugs.
Han Mei could not believe what she was seeing. The folders alone seem to be important documents but now were good as trash.
Her lips trembled with confusion, and she could not help but feel terrified to the point of tears.
“Who are you?” He asked darkly.
With clear nervousness in her face, she looked at him and replied, “Han… Han Mei. I am Han Mei…” She said in between of stutters.
She saw Suzuki Kyou took in a deep breath before letting it out in a quiet rush from his nose. His face remained calmly, blank and unimpressed.
“You are Han Mei?” He asked with an evil smirk, his eyes looking down at her mockingly, “You don’t sound so sure yourself.”
She could not decide what to feel at this time. It was the first time Han Mei needed to justify her own identity. “I am really Han Mei! Regardless if you like it or not!” She said with a glare.
His smirk disappeared, he then tilted his head, “You want to stop the engagement? What is it for me?” Suzuki Kyou asked.
“You don’t want to be in a loveless marriage. It was never beneficial. You know this…” She said, softer by every word. That was the truth because, based on her father’s story, Suzuki Kyou was a product of a loveless marriage. Add that to the strict and limited lifestyle of the Suzuki Family members, and she could bet that his life was not happy.
“Just think about what will happen to the children from that marriage. It will never be peaceful…” She added.
“Do you know who will not be peaceful soon?” He asked, and she could not answer. “Your family, for producing a woman likes you. Don’t you think so?” Suzuki Kyou’s voice was full of disgust.
Han Mei glared at him. Her eyes were glazed with tears, and she had been biting her bottom lip to keep it from trembling. She might have been winning the war against her lips, but she was not able to conceal the faint tremors going through her body. With her acting so weak and vulnerable, Han Mei hater herself so much.
“What do you want? I will do all I can to compensate you with all the trouble. I am sorry. I really can’t marry you!” Han Mei yelled in desperation.
Suzuki Kyou hummed as he nodded his head. However, she knew that there was no way he was going to give her an easy time. Regardless of his demand, she will do her best to fix this.
“Compensate? What about kneeling there for a week?” He asked casually.
“No… I can’t…” She immediately refused. Han Mei was pregnant after all.
Suzuki Kyou laughed, “You can’t? Then get out of here and don’t bother me.” He said mockingly.
“No! Give me another option. I can’t kneel for so long. I am… I am…” She tried to continued as she felt the lump inside her throat.
“You are what?” He asked demandingly.
Han Mei burst into tears, before she answered with great effort, “I am pregnant…” She said, barely heard because of her sobs.
There was another long pause coming from him as her sobs feels the room.
“You are pregnant?” He asked slowly and carefully.
Han Mei nodded without looking at him, “Yes, I am sorry. That is why I can’t marry you.”
“Does… Does your family know about it?” He asked.
“No… I left few weeks ago… I just… just got back…” She confessed. Han Mei knew what she was saying was putting her father, and his company’s on a possible jeopardy. But truth will set people free, right? She was still hoping that there would be other options without marriage involved.
He was not able to reply quickly. “You just got back? Where is my ring?” He asked softly.
Suzuki Kyou sounded differently, and she was more scared of him because of this. As if he was trying to so hard to calm before he unleashed the storm.
“I… I… Don’t know…”
“That woman is your twin.” He said without asking or confirming. Suzuki Kyou is a big boss, and it will not take a while for him to put things together.
Han Mei nodded. There was no way she would continue to lie.
“Get up.” Suzuki Kyou said evenly, his voice giving nothing away.
Immediately, Han Mei scrambled up gracefully as if a very obedient dog waiting for the command.
‘I hate dogs.’ Suzuki Kyou thought to himself as he looked at the woman with confusing emotion. The dog images and their way of trying to cause trouble had distracted him a little from his current emotion.
“Sit.” Suzuki Kyou said to Han Mei, who, after had gotten up, decided to just stare at him with red puffy eyes.
Han Mei gave him a slightly disapproving frown before she nodded and sat back to where she previously sat. She still ignored the chocolaty goodness the desk man had brought her.
“Have you carefully considered this?” Suzuki Kyou said his eyes were boring into hers with an intensity that continued to make Han Mei feel uncomfortable.
“Yes.” Han Mei said, her head was bowed as she played with a black glove before abruptly dropping it. She wiped her hands on her dress, nervously.
“The amazing Han family,” Suzuki Kyou started, “They lie just to get what they want. One sister pretend to the other, while the other runs away pregnant. So who should bear the consequence of all of this?” He asked casually. “I really don’t have time for this. It is best for all of you to speak to my lawyers.”
