My Obsession - 87 An Unforgettable Memory.
Meanwhile, at the Yang Manor, after Mrs Yang ended her phone conversation with Madam Liu. Her husband, Mr Yang asked her, “Is there something wrong?” His best friend’s wife was late for the scheduled time she said she would come, of course Mr Yang was worried, he was the one who told his wife to call Madam Liu.
The Yang had waited for Madam Liu and Liu Shun-Feng for over four hours. They worried if she was in some sort of accident. After all, Madam Liu was known to be punctual. And when she didn’t show up on time, at first they thought it was a little traffic jam. But, after waiting for over four hours, they began to be worried about them.
“She said she wasn’t feeling well and forgot to give us a call.” Mrs Yang was sitting in the living room of the Yang Manor with her husband sitting beside her on the sofa.
Even though Mr Yang was sitting next to her, he couldn’t hear their entire conversation, only the part when his wife wishes her well. So he had to ask, “Is she feeling better now?”
“She said that she would be fine after she has a good rest, so she can’t come over today.” In Mrs Yang’s voice it sounded bitter.
Mr Yang nodded, “It’s okay, her health is more important. We can see her next time.”
“Look at you! You’re so worried about her! If anyone doesn’t know any better, they’ll think she’s your wife and not me.” Even though Mrs Yang was only joking. But the tone in her voice could tell she was a little jealous about how worried her husband was for Madam Liu.
“Honey! How can you say that! People will misunderstand!” Mr Yang place his hands around her shoulders to reassure her. “How could I worry about her more than you? I once promised Wei-Kang that I will take care of his wife and son as much as I could. It was a dying wish from my best friend.”
Mr Yang sighed as he shakes his head, “He passed away too soon. Leaving a fatherless child and a young widow, with the heavy burden of the entire Liu Family to carry on. We should help and care about them as much as we can, it’s only the right thing to do. Why are you being so jealous?”
When Mrs Yang saw her husband sighed heavily. She knew she shouldn’t be jealous of them. She remembered how heartbreaking her husband was back then, when Liu Wei-Kang was on his death bed.
An unforgettable moment in their life that haunts Mr Yang since then. He could still remember that day when he got the phone call. He rushed to the hospital with his child and wife. Just to see his best friend laying on the hospital bed in the Emergency room, covered in gauze. Attached to him was a tube, it gave him oxygen, and aid his breathing, but it wasn’t enough to save him.
Yang Tian-Xu was six years old at the time, while Liu Shun-Feng just turned five the month before the incident. Liu Shun-Feng and his mother were crying at Liu Wei-Kang’s bedside. Waiting for him to finally open up his eyes. He was weak, so weak he could only say a few words. “I did my best.”
