My One And Only - Chapter 47 Couldnt Let Him Make The Same Mistake Again
As Susan sat in the company car to leave for her home, her head was buzzing with a lot of things that Arnav had told her. She had never thought that things would turn out like this… so damaged and confusing.
Initially, the main reason for which Susan wanted to talk to Arnav was to convince him to participate in Carrie’s Musical. How cool it would be for Sofya and Arnav who were already a couple in real life, to act on screen as well. But to her dismay, Arnav had straight away rejected her proposal. His excuse, or rather truth was high end work load at the company and a pending business trip. He was just too busy to do such nonsense.
” But even sis has work to do, still she agreed for it. Why can’t you? ” Susan had tried arguing with him, her face one of a child pleading for sweets.
Arnav had sighed loudly as he patiently explained to her, ” That’s your sister’s decision. Me on the other hand, I can’t participate. ” he had replied with an air of finality and the topic was closed there.
Noticing how Susan’s face had fallen, Arnav let it sink for a minute or two before asking her about Advay. However the next thing that he had asked her was completely out of the blue.
Arnav had asked about Advay, whether there had been any contact between them.
Susan glanced outside the car window, the green trees and the tall and elite buildings passed by them in a rush so that it was a complete blur. She remembered this was the same question that her school friend had asked her four years ago, when there had been a fight between them.
Putting her head in between her hands, her head throbbed just by thinking about the past. But now, based on what Arnav had told her about Advay being involved with the Vipers and grounded for the past two weeks, she just couldn’t ignore the situation.
He was spiralling out of control, just like in the past.
She couldn’t let him make the same mistake again.
Lifting her head up, Susan noticed that they had already entered the neighborhood. Her house was just five minutes away. She made up her mind in a split second.
” Let’s go to Thornfield Mansion. ”
The driver looked up in surprise. Arnav had ordered him to drive her straight to the villa and no where else. It was almost 7 ‘o’ clock in the evening.
” But mam, Sir said — ”
” Forget what your sir said. Do as I say. Otherwise I will take a taxi and still go there. ” Susan threatened him in a low voice. The driver gulped. He was doomed anyway, if he let her go off in the night alone against the specific orders of his boss. Finally he agreed to go to the mansion.
The time required to cover the distance between the villa and mansion was almost one hour, that is when there was no traffic. At this rush hour, it would probably take more than two hours to reach there. But Susan was not worried. Settling comfortably in the backseat, she closed her eyes for a short nap. No matter what happened today, she would talk it out with Advay. Even if he was unwilling, she was willing, no matter how much it hurt.
It was almost 9 by the time car entered the gates of Thornfield Mansion. Susan couldn’t help but hold in her breath as she took in its magnificence. The mansion loomed proudly behind shiny black iron gates, flanked by rows of skeletal trees crowned in crimson, swaying gently to the chilly autumn wind. It was almost November, and the winter was around the corner. At its threshold stood the delicate marble fountain, the soft gurgling of the clear water melodic as it resonated in the quiet surroundings.
Getting out of the car, Susan couldn’t help but have an uneasy feeling. Though she had made up her mind on the way, still she was afraid of him just like she was four years ago. Licking her lips slowly, she was still wondering whether or not to go inside, when the head butler came outside.
When he saw Susan instead of Arnav standing on the steps of the mansion, he was slightly surprised. Aware of the fact who she was, he asked her politely, ” Miss why are you here? ”
Susan contemplated before replying. Her eye twitching slightly, she asked in low voice, ” Is Advay home? “
