My Queen Of Terra - Chapter 236 BACK TO REALITY
“Ugh! I can’t believe I missed wearing pajamas in an air conditioned room.”
Erin reacted as she let her weight fall hard on the bed.
Fortunately, the hotel staff have kept their things with them.
“What astonished me is our families trusting us to come back in one piece after being gone for six months.”
Zoe replied to her comment as she did the same.
The hotel staffs said their relatives did not bother sending them back to them believing that they would still come back.
They have looked for them anywhere and since their bodies weren’t found, they believed they would return and pick them up themselves.
“Do you think we should call them now that we’re back?”
“I don’t think so.”
Erin answered her, which made Zoe tilt her head and gave her an incredulous look.
She continued to explain herself. “First, we don’t have our phones with us.”
As they ran here and there, they didn’t bother bringing their phones with them. Aside from it look ridiculous since none of them have one, they also don’t have signals in Terra.
“Not unless we memorized them. And even if we did, wouldn’t it be off that we would appear and then we would disappear again once we came back?”
Zoe furrowed her brows. “Still, I think it will be less anxious for them to believe that we’re not in danger and fine on our own.”
Erin nodded her agreement. “You’re right. I didn’t memorize my mom’s phone number. But I remember saving it in my email. There must be a computer rental near here.”
“I’ll probably call Cheng Hospital. I could probably talk with Cayden there.”
Erin abruptly stood up from her bed and put both of her thumbs up.
“Let’s do just that.”
After changing to some appropriate clothes, they quickly called on their loved ones to inform them about their condition.
Zoe and Erin managed to use their money through online banking.
“Zoe? I can’t believe it! How are you?” Cayden answered at the other end of the line.
Hearing his voice made her feel that she was really back being Zoe Cheng.
“I’m good. I’m just helping the people that saved me then in medical missions. There’s no signal there. I’m sorry I just called now.”
Cayden nodded his head as he knew how extremely helpful Zoe is ever since they were children.
“I understand. But you’re far from Lord Howe Island, right?”
“Yes.”
Zoe answered, not wanting them to worry at all.
“Okay. I better call on Dad now. He will be thrilled to know that you’re alive.”
As she heard him mention his Uncle Bo,it dawned on her that she could also ask him about why and what happened fifteen years ago.
‘Perhaps this time he would already tell me.’
“Zoe?”
It is her Uncle Bo.
“Uncle… How have you been?”
“How have I been? How have YOU been? Where are you now? I told you to get out of that land before they got you.”
“They?”
Zoe asked him since he already opened the topic. She heard him heave out a deep sigh.
“Tell me exactly where you have been for six months.”
Zoe took in a deep breath. Even though she desire to know more about what happened then, she still doubted if she could share Terra’s secret.
She was uncertain if they really have been in Terra fifteen years ago. Or were only in the borders of the Ball’s Pyramid.
If it was the latter, she would jeopardize the safety of the Terrans.
“It’s a long story, Uncle. But don’t worry, I’m safe now. Maybe we can talk about it some other time.”
“It’s up to you, niece. But if you have been in Terra, you should tell me.”
Zoe’s eyes widened in surprise at his Uncle’s knowledge of the hidden city.
“H-have you been to Terra, Uncle?” Zoe stuttered as she inquired about it.
‘If Mama was placed at Lady Dolores’s doorsteps, then how about you?’
She wanted to add. But she didn’t. She doesn’t understand why but she felt like being cautious with her Uncle for unknown reasons.
“Yes. I know you’re already old enough to understand. Maybe we can talk about that later. But you have been there?”
“I just heard about it from the townsfolks, Uncle. They said it’s only a legend. I didn’t know you and Mama have been there. It must be true.”
Zoe tested the waters. If he said yes, she would be open about it. But if he said no, she should be more cautious.
She was expecting the former but to her surprise, Uncle Bo seemed to deviate the topic as he replied.
“I better get going. We have a meeting in a few minutes. I’m grateful to hear your voice. Let’s talk again soon. I will give this to Cayden now. Come back now.”
Zoe’s face frowned as her Uncle consciously eluded her from her question.
‘What is my Uncle hiding? I should better talk to him in person about it.’ She thought to herself.
“Hello, Zoe.” It was now Cayden on the phone.
“Hey, how are you?”
There was a few moments of silence, which is uncommon for Cayden. So Zoe asked again.
“Is there anything wrong?”
“No. No. Everything’s okay. There were some changes but they’re manageable. Don’t worry. Just come back once you’re done there.”
“Thank you. I just also want to ask how Kristie is. And my sponsorship to Anika’s son?”
Even though she was at Terra, these thoughts still haunt her and were one of the strings that pulled her back into her world.
“Kristie Wong? Is she the one you referred to Dr. Xiong? I think she is recuperating well now. And Ms. Feng’s son receives monthly support from your account.”
Zoe’s lips curved into a grateful smile as if a thorn was removed from her chest.
