But it didn’t take her long before she answered with a determined voice.

“Of course!” Lady Thana, her eyelashes fluttered with her eyes wide open.

“Why would I not?” She added, flashing one of her sweetest smiles.

Raigon was already expecting that. But it was just the beginning of his interrogation that would give him a clue about his suspicions.

“Why? Answer me quickly or I would think you are being insincere.” He ordered in his authoritative voice.

Lady Thana obliged as she wiped her hands on her clothes and hair and straightened her shoulders.

“Even if you’re not the Crowned Prince, you’re still from the royal family. I know my future is stable with you.”

Raigon’s forehead scrunched at her comment. He pivoted so his body was directed to him.

“Lord Vigo is from the royal family. And you know he likes you ever since.”

Lady Thana’s lips tightened in response.

Raigon didn’t know if it was because she doesn’t know the answer to his question. Or because she has an idea why, but she doesn’t want to tell him the truth.

“I don’t like him.” She responded as her eyes darted away.

“Then what do you like?” Raigon asked her directly.

“I like someone who’s thoughtful and caring… Just – just like you.”

Her cheeks turned red as she bluntly poured out her heart.

Raigon froze for a few moment. He didn’t know if he would be happy that he was appreciated by someone like her or he would be sad that he could not reciprocate back the same emotions..

When someone would ask him if he likes someone, he couldn’t think of anybody else but Zoe.

“Forgive for my straightforwardness. But I am here because I don’t want you to get hurt. My heart is already owned by someone else.”

Lady Thana bit her lips to prevent a gasp from escaping her mouth.

“B-but I am the first.”

She stuttered as if she knew who he was talking to.

Raigon’s voice softened as he didn’t want to hurt her. It isn’t her fault that he was not in love with her.

“You are special in my heart as a younger sister. That is why I want you to be happy. You deserve to be married to someone that would love you back as his woman.”

Lady Thana’s lips started to tremble as she heard his words. Her dainty fingers fled to cover her tear-strickened face.

Raigon’s head bent down as he closed his eyes.

‘It is better for her to be hurt now than later when we can’t do anything about it anymore.’

But Lady Thana seemed to be unperturbed as she wiped her tears gracefully and made a bargain to him.

“It’s all right even if you don’t love me back for now, your Highness. I will do everything until you love me. Just like the Queen did to the King.”

But her last remark dumbfounded him. ‘Just like the Queen? Is the Queen her inspiration now?’

“Why would you do that?” He can’t help but blurt out.

“Because that’s what queens do for the sake of their position.”

Lady Thana blindlessly reacted as their conversation made her vulnerable. She must have realized how her objective has been divulged.

But it was too late as Raigon leaned back and crossed his arms.

“So it is not being the wife of a Crown Princess that you want, but to be the Queen of Terra?”

“No! No! You must be mistaken, your Highness. I didn’t meant to put it that way.”

Lady Thana’s lips curved into an awkward smile as she sweeped her hands in the air.

“Then help me understand.”

Raigon raised an eyebrow at him.

“That is, if I will be the Queen. But if not, it’s fine. You’re right. I also won’t be happy with that set up.”

Raigon nodded as if he agreed with her. But deep inside, he began to have suspicions with her.

Being forced by her parents is different from if she herself has the ulterior motive.

“But what about our parents? They have been planning this even before we were born. And you know how influential and powerful they are.”

Lady Thana continued to add as she poured herself a cup of tea. Then she poured one to Raigon. But he refused. He has no plans of staying longer.

Whatever her reason is, if she agrees with him, it would benefit the both of them.

“I know. That is also the reason why I talked to you about it. If both of us would be against this, it would be easier for us to push through the wall.”

“B-but…”

Raigon narrowed his oceanic blue eyes at her as he asked her through his gaze what is wrong.

Lady Thana clamped her lips. She looked as if she wanted to say something else but decided not to.

“Nothing. I just thought that it would not be easy for both of you.”

Raigon nodded his head. “I know. But I’m willing to try.”

Lady Thana stood up and went around the expanse of the garden.

“Will it not be too hard for her? She was not trained for the throne. Maybe I could help her.”

Lady Thanks swiveled and beamed at Raigon with a twinkle in her eye.

Raigon’s demeanor lifted up. It would be great for Zoe if she will have someone from the royal people of Terra who will support her throughout her journey.

“Can you do that?” He asked her in a hopeful voice.

“Absolutely. I am competent in that line. I could help her with that.”

She smiled at him sweetly.
