My Queen Of Terra - Chapter 245 MARRYING A HALFLING
But with two conditions. The first one seemed easy for Raigon. He has seen Zoe’s skills and he was a hundred percent certain that she could cure the King.
However, the second one made him feel like he was caught between a rock and a hard place. He rubbed his chin as he thought about how the people could possibly accept Zoe as a halfling when it has been the tradition even before he was born.
“I better be going, Mother. I would take your condition to heart.” Raigon abruptly stood up and bowed down to the Queen.
If he would find a way for the people to accept a half-ling, he better understand what it is.
It was one of the lessons that he didn’t care to bother when he was still studying the history of Terra. He wasn’t interested, thinking that it would be impossible for Terra to have halflings. But now that his loved one was, could it be possible that a half-ling be a Queen of Terra?
He didn’t waste any more time. If he wants to gain knowledge about this, he must go to Lord Hou, Azra’s grandfather, Terra’s longest historian yet. With his desire to climb the ladder to his marriage with Zoe, he reaches Lord Hous in no time.
“Your Highness!”
Lord Hou and Azra bowed down to him. It seemed that he was already well and fully recovered. Azra was also with him as he instructed him to take a leave of rest so he could bounce back to his fullest potential in a quicker time.
Once they are seated and the servants have given them some fruits to chomp on, Raigon then asks the question that will be the key to his mishap.
“Why do Terrans hate half-lings?”
Lord Hou nodded his head after drinking a glass of pomegranate juice. “I understand why you are asking this.”
He knew about Lady Asha, being the daughter of a half-ling, which is one of the reasons why she cannot be the Queen. And it seemed to be this is also what is happening now.
“Before the Three Legendary starters of Terra built a civilization in this land, each of them committed themselves to several laws that they would pass down to their generation to preserve the land. One of those rules is to never allow an outsider to enter the lands.”
Raigon bended his head as he crossed his fingers together. “I have knowledge of that. But why are they so strict with an outsider? I understand if they were greedy men who had an interest in the land’s riches. But why would they be harsh even to an innocent woman who just fell in love with an outsider or even her daughter?”
Lord Hou paused for a few seconds as he knew that the Crowned Prince was referring to Lady Asha and her daughter.
He paused and glanced at the Crowned Prince to see if he was still following. Raigon nodded his head as he understood the good intentions and the wisdom of the Three.
At this revelation, Raigon’s fingers flew to massage his temples as the fulfillment of his ultimate dream was more impossible than he thought.
“But how about the women and the children? And besides, there are Terrans who have corrupt morality too.”
He gritted his teeth as he recalled his cousin who seemed to have no shame as he flaunted his evil intentions toward his family.
Azra nodded his head in agreement with the Crowned Prince as he had witnessed it himself.
Lord Hou took another sip at his glass before continuing.
“The Three have also thought about it, so they also made another rule to ban these people from Terra and never to return again.”
Raigon and Azra’s eyes went wide open at this, at the observation of Lord Hou. He then added information that calmed them somehow.
“Except for the half-ling children. They were allowed to stay.”
Raigon and Azra breathed out a sigh of relief. But only to feel hopelessness afterwards.
“However, they will endure the maltreatment of the people. Terrans don’t really accept half-lings. And so far the only case that we know is Lady Asha, the mother.”
Raigon drew in a deep breath as he rubbed his chin. “What will happen if I marry a half-ling?”
It was Lord Hou’s turn to gasp as his body unconsciously jerked back.
“It will be difficult for you, your Highness! It was already troublesome for the King back then. And there were no rebellious forces yet. What more now?”
Raigon narrowed his eyes on Lord Hou. “I thought you were helping the King and Lady Asha back then. And it is the reason why the Queen was furious with you.”
Lord Hou tilted his head so he could gaze at the decoration hanging in the ceiling.
“I was only trying to help them within the boundaries of the law. Whenever I notice that they are getting out of the line, I always reminded them, especially the King, of the rules of the land.”
Azra’s head lifted up and glanced at Lord Hou as he could relate with him somehow.
“I was just also sympathizing with the both of them that is why I made decisions that made it look like I was the one influencing them to disregard the rule. But I did not.”
Raigon nodded his head as his trust for the Hous deepened all the more.
