My Queen Of Terra - Chapter 253 TREATING THE KING OF TERRA 4
“Why did you agree with her? What if something happens?”
Raigon blazed at Zoe, his face drenched of color as he imagined the worst case scenario for her.
He almost died saving her life. He couldn’t believe that she would easily succumb to a suggestion in which she could choose to opt out.
However, Zoe seemed to be lost in cloud nine as she gave him a reassuring smile.
“Just trust me like your mother does.”
It seemed that Queen Rose’s last words had a deep impact on Zoe as she immediately put on her doctor mode.
“Please call Azra and Erin’s attention, your Highness. I need a team immediately.”
Raigon nodded and dashed outside to tell the servant to call on them but his eyebrows were still knitted together.
Meanwhile, Zoe continued on her CPR intervention, pumping his chest every 10-15 seconds and checking out his pulse.
“Your Majesty, you have a good long life ahead of you. Please stay with us.”
Zoe encouraged King Artair to hold on to life as she pressed on giving him a good heartbeat. With her persistence, she felt his pulse return back from weak to strong. However, they were irregular and seemed to be not holding on through and through.
She was checking out the other parts of his body and noticed that his legs were somehow swollen when Raigon came back.
Shortness of breath during exercise or when lying flat
Fatigue and weakness
Fluid retention causing swelling in the ankles, legs, feet and/or abdomen
Heart palpitations
“What is the King complaining about his health before this happened?”
She asked him. As she did so, the two entered in and bowed to the King.
“He said that he was having a hard time breathing and he always felt weak and tired. There were times that he said his heart was palpitating too.”
Raigon answered her as he quickly recalled his times with the King.
Zoe’s eyes widened as she had an idea of what the King’s disease could be.
“I think the King has ventricular aneurysm. It only got complicated with the stressful situations that he’s experiencing lately.”
“What does that mean? Is it fatal?” Erin asked, her face downcast as it was her first time seeing the King and yet he was in this condition.
Zoe took a quick look at Raigon and chose her words so he would not panic. “It would not. But he has to undergo surgery.”
“What? A cardiac surgery? But we cannot bring him out of Terra so he could go to a hospital!” Erin gave her an incredulous look.
Zoe took in a deep breath with her shoulders dropped down. “I know.”
Even if she can perform the surgery, she needs medical equipment like angiogram, ECG, MRI or chest x rays.
“I guess I have to do it manually then.” She thought out loud.
Erin begged Zoe as he clutched on Azra for support. Azra held her steady as he awaited their decision.
“But I cannot turn back now. I cannot let the King die like this when I know I can do something about it. At least I tried.”
Zoe glanced at the King and the father of his beloved.
Meanwhile, Raigon was quiet the whole time. He was torn between allowing Zoe to treat him or not. Hearing their conversation broke his heart into pieces. But then he was reminded of Zoe’s last words.
‘Trust me like your Mother does.’
He inhaled a lungful of air and drew out. “What do you need us to do?”
“Clean yourself and put on masks. We’re going to perform an open heart surgery.” Zoe commanded, with a new energy after seeing her beloved’s trust in her.
Erin’s hands trembled, not because it was her first time to do so. But because she was afraid of the consequences this could bring. But she obliged and supported her friend.
Zoe also asked for tools that she could need and asked the men to sterilize them with boiling water.
She also brought out her Hebao and disinfected her instruments.
After everything was ready, Zoe put on her gloves and talked to her team.
“We are not just saving any man. We are saving our friend’s father -”
She gave a quick glance at Raigon which made him bow his head and swallowed hard.
“And the King of Terra.” Zoe added on.
Azra lifted his head and straightened his shoulders.
“Let’s give our best in preserving his life.” Zoe concluded to the agreement of the three as they all nodded their heads.
Zoe started putting the King on anesthesia. As they came back to Lord Howe Island, she was able to replenish her stocks and added a few more which she thought would be needed if she would stay in Terra for a long time, including surgery equipment.
Then she started to make a cut on his chest, making Raigon’s eyes dart away as he couldn’t bear to see his father in such a state.
As Zoe continued to open his chest, King Artair’s body started trembling. Raigon immediately held his arms.
“Father!”
Azra and Erin stepped back as they thought he was about to fall in the bed.
“It’s okay. He would be fine.”
Zoe remained calm and in control. She waited for him to finish convulsing before she continued on the surgery.
Having a set mind and a firm decision, she did everything in a quick span of time. She was able to see the part with the aneurysm and sew together the healthy areas of the heart.
Erin and Azra hold on their breath as they watch Zoe and give her what she needs all throughout the surgery.
“The aneurysm is gone. Patient’s heart is beating normally. We’re now closing.”
Raigon’s eyes finally darted back to his father.
Everyone breathed out a sigh of relief as Zoe gave the last announcement.
“Surgery is now finished. Good job everyone.” She bowed down to them, her face beaming with happiness.
