My Queen Of Terra - Chapter 256 BANNED HIGH CHANCELLOR
He could focus on finding ways to protect Zoe some other time. But it is not the issue on hand right now as he remained fixed on making others see that the health of the King is of utmost priority. In this way, he thinks they would also be deviated from talking ill about her.
Duke Andras gulped as his feet unconsciously stepped backward.
‘Where did this little boy get the brevity to use his authority like this?’
He thought as his eyes darted away and looked for a place where he could hide from his fiery gaze.
“I-I.. I didn’t mean that to happen.” He tried to sound calm and unperturbed, but his voice cracked at the end.
Raigon, however, likes to see what he is seeing. He must indeed pay for what he did to the King!
“But you know that he was ill and his condition was brought about by stress. We even made the Queen the Regent to take care of his heart and so he can recover fully. How can you say that you didn’t mean that? I’m wondering, Uncle.”
Raigon rubbed his chin and furrowed his brows, feigning a confused look.
To Duke Andras’ astonishment, everyone around agreed with him as he heard their whispers.
“He was the one who suggested making the Queen Regent for the meantime because he was concerned for his brother’s health. But what he said a while ago contradicted his actions.”
“The Crowned Prince was right. Even if it is true, he could have chosen another time to say it. The King’s health should be prioritized.”
Seeing his defeat, Duke Andras’ stance softened as he apologized. If he will not, the Crowned Prince might really put him in jail.
“That’s only a slip of the tongue because I was disturbed by my son’s imprisonment. Forgive my impudence, your Highness.”
He bowed down to Raigon and then to everybody present.
“I forgive you, your excellence. I will not send you to the royal dungeons.”
Raigon uttered, making Duke Andras breathe out a sigh of relief. He was having a hard time breathing ever since Raigon barged into the room. It seemed like he was more fearless and unshrinking than his brother.
The faces of the royal physicians and council also relaxed as it is indeed a great issue to be the cause of the King’s almost death.
However, their pacified feelings were only short-lived. Raigon straightened his shoulders and lifted his chin.
“However, you will stop being the High Chancellor.”
Another uproar rose from the group as Duke Andras has always been the High Chancellor from the start.
He also has the highest ranks among all the senior members of the Royal Council. And he is the one who makes the final decision before they present it to the King or anyone who has the highest authority at that moment.
“Raigon…” Duke Andras muttered in disbelief at his nephew’s disrespect in his vested position.
To lessen the turmoil, Raigon added on what he has in mind as he crossed his arms.
“It is not definite but will only take place until the King has fully recovered. However, it is the King who will decide if he wanted to bring him back to position or not.” He concluded with a satisfied smile.
Because of the recent events, Raigon somehow concluded that his relatives aren’t really as innocent and pure as he thought they were. And he would not allow their malicious intentions to destroy his family.
However, Duke Andras would not back away that easily. As he was about to leave the Meeting Room, Duke Andras retorted back to Raigon which made him swivel back again.
“Father had already chosen Artair to be the King of Terra. I have accepted the High Chancellor position. How dare you take it away from me just like this?”
His fists threw down the table, it almost broke in two if it wasn’t sturdy material.
“You’re not content with putting your cousin in the lowest dungeons. And now you’re stripping your Uncle of his pride and authority? How will you lead the land as the King when you are destroying your own household with your disrespectful decisions?”
Now it was Raigon’s turn to be murmured upon as family values are treated in high honor in Terra. Even though the Crowned Prince is right, it is a sore to the eye to see the royal household in chaos.
If the word gets out, people might even think that the whole royal household cannot protect Terra if they cannot even protect each other from themselves.
But Raigon remained in his stance. He cares about his family’s safety more than rumors.
His lips curved up in a wide grin as he uttered.
“Do not work yourself up too hard everyone. Lady Asha is doing her best to treat the King. Just pray for the King’s health and support her and everything will fall back in its place sooner than you think as the King decides.”
“Yes, your Highness! Your kindness is immeasurable.”
Everyone present bowed down to Raigon, except for Duke Andras, who was clenching his jaws as his nephew just twisted the situation in his woman’s favor.
“You will have your time.” He held his elbows away from his body as he inhaled and exhaled a lungful of air.
Raigon came back to the King’s chamber where Zoe was waiting for him with the King. He has already woken up. And they were both smiling at him.
His face brightened up in a smile.
