My Queen Of Terra - Chapter 257 A SECOND CHANCE IN LIFE
King Artair uttered in a weak voice as he woke up. His eyes darted around the room as he realized that he was back in His chamber.
At the flash of lightning, Zoe stood up and bowed down to the King. She has been waiting for him to regain his consciousness as the time lapse from the normal could mean that there is a complication from her treatment.
“I apologized for not informing you sooner, your Majesty. But you got a heart attack during your meeting, which could lead to a heart failure if left untreated. So together with the Queen and the Crowned Prince, we decided to do what’s best and operated on you.”
King Artair’s face grimaced, which he didn’t know if it was because of what she had just said or the pain in his body as he tried to stand up.
Zoe’s hands flew to help him, not to sit but to get back to his supine position.
“Forgive me, your Majesty. But please rest first as your operation is not an ordinary one.” She gave him an encouraging smile which melted his resolve to stand up and know what exactly is happening.
“You must have a strong physical stamina that you were able to breathe and speak quickly after your operation.”
She gave him a positive remark which made him relax as he slowly descended back to his bed. As he did so, he noticed that there was a bandage in his chest.
“You’re the one who operated on me and I lived?” King Artair squinted his eyes that were currently glowing with hope.
“God must still have a plan for me.” He uttered in a soft but determined voice.
“Of course, your Majesty. That is why I am here. I will help you get back on track of God’s plan for your life in the quickest time possible.” She cheered him on.
King Artair smiled at her as he lifted his hand and placed them on his heart was assisted by Zoe.
“Thank you for this new heart.” He tilted his head as a sign of honor to the person who revived him back to life.
Zoe was taken aback by his gesture and bowed to him after assisting him back to a comfortable position. After all the royal council and physicians undermined her medical skills, the trust and appreciation of the royal family is enough credits for her to continue on treating the King.
She felt that they would probably object until now. But as long as the family trusts her, she would continue to give herself to them.
“It is an honor to serve you, your Majesty.”
“I am certain that your Mother in heaven must be pleased that her daughter grew up to be a kind hearted physician like she is.”
Those words warmed Zoe’s heart like a fireplace in the coldest winter. It is the reason why she took up medicine. It’s not just because she wanted to help and treat people. But she wanted to be like her mother.
At that moment Raigon came back to the Chamber and witnessed their heartwarming conversation.
He doesn’t cry often. But this time, tears welled up in his eyes as he sniffed. King Artair, on the other hand, lifted his hand so he could pat his back. It was painful but his cheeks lifted as he was also happy to still be holding his son in his arms like this.
Zoe couldn’t help but feel mushy inside as she gazed at the lovely father and son, meeting after an almost eternal separation between them. She was glad that her medical skills were of use and he was able to meet his father again. A thing which she cannot do on her own family anymore.
Raigon wiped off his forming tears immediately.
“Do not scare us like that again, your Majesty.” He scolded him, trying to make light of the situation.
“Don’t worry, son. I think that would be the last time. I have a good doctor beside me.” He winked at Zoe who was watching them with glistening eyes.
A chuckle escaped from Zoe’s lips as she bowed down to them.
Raigon filled him in with the details of what happened. Except for the meeting with the royal council just a while ago and his encounter with Duke Andras. He must know it. But it could be some other time.
After hearing Zoe’s brave decision to treat him even with her life at stake, King Artair immediately commented.
“I think this must be noted on the heroes’ section in history. She must be given the red tag. She saved the King’s life after all.”
“What do you mean, your Majesty?” Zoe furrowed her brows as her heart suddenly started beating louder than its normal volume.
“It means your name will be heralded to every city and province in Terra as the person who saved the King. You will be given a new tag which would give you access anywhere and to anything you want which is almost the same as the royal family. And you will be held in high regard by every Terran through all generations.”
Raigon explained to Zoe, his eyes twinkling in excitement at the King’s lavish grace to her. Zoe’s eyes turned into big circles together with her mouth that she hid under her cupped hands.
She immediately fell to her feet and bowed down low to the ground. “I – I don’t deserve such honor, your Majesty.”
“You do, dear one. You do.” King Artair responded to her as his smile penetrated the deepest regrets in his soul. He could not explain it but it seemed like she had not just given him a new life, but a life free of guilt and penitence as well.
