My Second Life in Another World - Chapter 417: Real Objectives?
‘They were quite busy because of what they pulled off today,’ Soo-young understood an important point because of this, ‘So, it wasn’t a reach when he said that groups have really combined.’ Because it didn’t look like Haru’s group alone pulled all of the weight, the other groups were also putting in an effort.
“Come on, I’ll take you to the registration window,” Min-hyuk said happily and led her to an open desk where a good-looking woman was seated, she was typing away at the keyboard of her laptop while looking at the papers beside her.
“Mi-na-ssi I found someone who needs help,” Min-hyuk spoke up causing the Mi-na to look up from the screen.
“Oh, I see, thanks for your hard work,” Mi-na said with a smile and Min-hyuk shook his head.
“No, it was nothing, anyway please talk to her,” Min-hyuk quickly pointed at Soo-young who was beside him, but…
“Miss? ….Are you alright?” Mi-na asked because Soo-young looked distracted, while in reality, she was deep in thought.
‘They have electricity?’ Soo-young’s eyes were focused on the laptop that was in front of her, and not just that she had noticed that most of the desks had laptops along with charging outlets nearby which meant that, ‘I can finally charge my phone!’
“Ah, yes, I was just taken aback,” Soo-young said while looking at Mi-na.
“I see, that is pretty common for newcomers here,” Mi-na just smiled.
“How do you know that I am a newcomer?” Soo-young asked since it looked suspicious and…
“Hmm? Didn’t Min-hyuk-ssi tell you that he was taking you to the Helping The Lost and Doing A Good Deed Reward Section?” Mi-na asked and Soo-young turned to her right to see Min-hyuk smiling, “This is the place where you get a reward for guiding the lost new members, although it is just newly made thus why it is empty.”
She just glossed over the fact that the name was such a mouthful.
“…” Soo-young’s face became expressionless not even reacting to the name, she saw the long string of messages in front of her.
[Many Constellations are laughing at what happened to you.]
[The Constellation ‘Prisoner of the Golden Headband’ is feeling out of breath because of the intense laughter.]
[The Constellation ‘Abyssal Black Flame Dragon’ is rolling on the floor.]
[The Constellation ‘Secretive Plotter’ is laughing.]
.
.
.
.
.
.
[The Constellation ‘Ghost of Tosa’ is smacking his thigh in joy.]
[The Constellation ‘Desserts For Days’ is eating his ice cream silently.]
[20,000 coins have been sponsored.]
‘These bastards…’ Soo-young’s mood worsened looking at the constellations since she understood they were so active suddenly but, ‘Well, I don’t care,’ she thought looking at the last message.
“Can I have your name, Miss?” Mi-na asked and Soo-young looked at her, she was just fed up so she just decided to drop the matter.
“Han Soo-young,” She wasn’t going to lie about her name since that was the trick, anyway she saw Mi-na type at the keyboard, then she picked up her phone to take a photo of Soo-young while she was dazed.
“Wait! Did you jus-” The sound of the photo being clicked brought Soo-young out of her thoughts, but…
“You really are new,” Mi-na said looking at Soo-young as if asking her what’s wrong? And, there was nothing she could ask since this seemed like a standard procedure.
“See she is new, now give me the reward,” Min-hyuk demanded and Soo-young didn’t even bother with him.
‘We both used each other so no harm,’ Soo-young just shrugged, but she was pissed, ‘did I look like an easy target? Shit!’ she was really mad but at the wrong thing.
“Yes, of course, we don’t plan on going back on our words,” Mi-na said and handed Min-hyuk six meal tickets and then transferred 500 coins.
“Pleasure doing business with you,” Min-hyuk smirked and walked out after glancing at the two women.
“Hey, did you see that?”
“Yeah, so it wasn’t a joke,”
“Yeah, he actually got that much?”
“He is set for the week even if he spends more than normal,”
“Who would’ve thought that notice was real….”
The people gossiped in hushed tones, this seemed like a scheme for easy money at first, but they didn’t expect it to be true.
On the other hand, Soo-young was hearing these words but stayed silent.
“If you have some sort of identification for yourself, then we can provide you with some benefits regarding Meals and accommodation,” Mi-na said and Soo-young frowned a little.
“Why are you asking that of me?” She thought that this was going too far. What is this? A government office?
What’s the point of identification when the society itself is gone?
“It may seem like we are being too much, but in truth, we are being careful about the fact that someone might come in under a different name, and get the reward when we are just trying to help people,” Mi-na sighed, it wasn’t that easy to get this sort of job done in the current times, “There are many ways for people to get a new face right now.”
Because there could be people who just come back with changed names and a different face thanks to a skill, that is why they had to keep their database as complete as possible.
And what better way to do that than to give out rewards for people who provide proper identification of any kind, of course, it was not a foolproof method, but it was the only way for them, or so it may seem…
“Can’t you just not do something like this and be free of the hassle?” Soo-young crossed her arms looking at Mi-na, “But it seems like you can’t do that because you guys also want something, right?” the corner of her lips went up because, she had made a guess as to why they were going through so much trouble.
‘It looks like their group isn’t all rainbow and sunshine after all,’ Because of the large number of people in Haru’s group, if they do not keep count of their members then it would be catastrophic, Why?
‘Spies and troublemakers who like creating chaos,’ Soo-young didn’t think that this group would be so fast to implement a counter to this problem, ‘because if such people get in and are allowed to be mixed with the original group, it would be harder to spot them later.’
And then there was a chance that these people who have mixed in will gather and hide their members, before attacking at the proper time.
This is why such a scheme had been put in place, since at this moment there are people who are okay with manipulating and lying to others to make a living.
The group didn’t mind the people using such methods since it would help them as well, one, to spot people who are trying to hide in plain sight, and second they’d be able to single out people who are willing to do this kind of dirty work.
“Here is my driving license,” That is how Soo-young concluded that everyone who doesn’t provide any identification…
‘Will also be on the watch list on the suspicion that they are lying about their identity,’ This was the whole reason for this registration program they had going on.
“You certainly are a sharp one, Han Soo-young-ssi,” Mi-na smiled entering her details slowly.
“Just Soo-young is fine,” Soo-young said with a smirk and Mi-na nodded in understanding, they weren’t that far in age for there was no need for formality.
“Please charge your phone with this,” Mi-na then pointed at the charging outlet that had a charging cable connected to it directly.
‘What?’ Soo-young narrowed her eyes because, ‘Why did they rip the outlet out of the wall?’ this seemed weird.
“It is to show that we aren’t peeping into your phone while it charges,” Mi-na explained and Soo-young understood.
‘That can be a valid concern for many, but I don’t think some will care about it if they get to charge their phone,’ But of course, Soo-young was one of the people who were concerned, since her phone had a lot of important details, ‘Wouldn’t want anyone to see those.’
“I see, pretty neat setup,” Soo-young said plugging in her phone after checking the outlet one last time to make sure, “I can finally use the phone again.” She was pleased nonetheless, she didn’t have the time to get an extra power bank from somewhere, and due to that, her phone ran out of juice.
“It really is,” Mi-na nodded, it was good to get their phones back, “this way we can at least get some respite from the madness going on outside.”
“Hmm, that’s true for some,” Soo-young just nodded, she didn’t particularly agree with Mi-na, because she didn’t care about that.
“So, are you going to join the logistics?”
