My Second Life in Another World - Chapter 429: Don't Want To
[Then let us move to the main topic,] The Noble Child Of The Sun said and Haru nodded, it was about time to talk about the reason they were here for.
[I want to offer you a contract, and not just from me but from the entire Takamagahara,] She said seriously, [I will make sure that you are supported in what you need to do. And if you want, I can also make other members of your group have contracts in our nebulae.]
“So, you want to make a contract with my whole group?” Haru now understood why he was summoned, and more importantly…
‘Did they approach Queresha separately?’ Haru smiled slightly, ‘That means it worked out.’ but his smile was misread by the constellation.
[It isn’t that I made such a plan, but I am doing this so you can have peace of mind,] She said and Haru tilted his head.
‘What is she getting at?’ Haru could feel like this topic was troublesome, because of the way she said it…
[You should already know that Olympus is after your group,] She said and Haru nodded, they weren’t after as in to kill them, but to recruit them.
‘I did get that interest report from Bi-hyung,’ Haru had seen that Nebula who spent the most coins donating to him, was Olympus.
And it didn’t seem like they were doing that without any intentions, it was clear what they wanted.
“Are they the way I think?” Haru asked going through the information he had on the Greek Pantheon, he thought that it could only be them considering the names.
[I can assure you that they are worse,] She sounded disgusted just by talking about them, [they are shady with their contracts and have little regard for their Incarnations, and worst of all…] she hesitated at the end.
“Worst of all?” Haru played innocent to get the information, and sure enough, it worked.
[They get amusement out of taking… sexual liberties with their Incarnations,] She sounded embarrassed to speak about it but looking at Haru, she continued since she didn’t want him to mix in with them.
After all, most of the Goddesses from Olympus, were after him for that very reason.
[Some of them even enjoy forcing themselves on their Incarnations or giving them favor in return for such things, and things like…orgies are… pretty common there…] The more she spoke the lower her voice became, and at the end it became inaudible.
It was embarrassing to speak about that sort of thing when it wasn’t in her culture.
‘So, they are just like the Greek gods we know about in the myths,’ Haru knew that this was troublesome, and it could also be that she was just badmouthing the competition to get brownie points.
But that wasn’t the issue here, the Greek may have been the one who spent the most coins on them, and it just so happens to be that…
‘Her Nebulae came in second, and the third was Eden,’ Haru remembered the list, so he knew that she must’ve spent a good amount of coins to get this meeting going before others.
“You spent a lot of coins on me,” Haru knew that if he went for the individual constellation who sent the most coins to him, “Do you have something similar in mind?”
Then Noble Child Of The Sun triumphed over all.
‘But right now Desserts For Days is a close second,’ That guy just dropped 100,000 coins like it was candy, this is why he was kind of surprised to not see that guy meeting him.
So, how did he know that Noble Child Of The Sun, was the one who sent the most Coins to him?
Did Bi-hyung tell him? No.
‘That guy just gave me info on the Nebulas,’ Haru could see that even that took a significant amount of effort for the guy, so there was no way he would be able to get the info for every constellation.
Well, it wasn’t impossible but, ‘Even the one he made looked like it was hastily done, and there is no way he would do such an in-depth one without asking for anything in return.’ Haru already knew that Bi-hyung was trying his luck.
And the main reason Haru didn’t need to get the list from Bi-hyung about the constellations, was that he already knew all about it.
‘I kept a record in my mind,’ He had been doing this from the start because he knew it would be useful down the line.
This was the reason he never asked the Dokkaebis to shut off the notification option.
And while he was thinking about this, his conversation partner came out of her shock.
[..O-Of course Not!] The sudden shout from her brought Haru out of his thoughts immediately.
‘Uh-oh,’ Haru was just saying that in jest, but he didn’t think it would get such a strong reaction.
[I wouldn’t do something like that,] She seemed angry but not at him.
‘Those bastards are giving me a bad name!!’ She was angry at the Greek Gods since because of them, she was seen as a predator as well.
“Well, I am sorry for saying that,” Haru apologized by bowing his head slightly, and that sincere apology seemed enough.
[Ah, no, I am not angry at you,]And it seemed more than enough, as she quickly reassured him.
“I see, I am still sorry, I shouldn’t have been so insensitive,” Haru said again and the voice sighed in defeat.
[I said it is fine, you must be going through a hard time as well,] She said thinking of the scenarios, no matter how a person seemed on the outside, [Those experiences must’ve made it hard for you to trust others.] only they knew what was going on inside.
That is why she didn’t take offense to that, as she had seen what was going on around him.
“…” Haru just stared at the fire in front of him, “Well, I know I can trust you,” before he broke the silence.
[W-Wha-?] The voice was flustered yet again.
“…It is nothing,” Haru shook his head, “about the contract…” and brought up the main topic.
[…It is alright I understand…] She seemed to have calmed down quickly after hearing him, it wasn’t hard for her to understand what he meant.
No, in a sense, she already knew of it from the beginning.
“It makes me feel quite bad after you spent so many coins,” Haru wasn’t going to make this contract, but he knew of one thing…
[Well, if you feel bad about it… maybe consider it in the future,] She said being a little hopeful as Haru nodded.
“I might,” And that seemed to mark the end of their meeting.
The end of the official meeting anyway…
[So… what type of tea do you like?] She tried to think of questions to keep the conversation going.
“Matcha,” Haru answered without any qualms, and this sudden conversation kept going for another few minutes or so.
[Then, this seems to be the limit,] She said and Haru nodded.
“Thank you,” He spoke while standing up.
[I didn’t really do anything,] She said, she had just wasted time, that was all there was.
“I don’t think any other constellation would do that,” Haru said catching her attention, it was weird how she was doing this much when he had refused her contract.
[Ah, well…] Even she knew that it was true, and that is why…
‘Do I still…. look suspicious?’ her mind started to go in all the wrong directions, ‘Is that why he asked whether I was after his body?! Maybe I shouldn’t have let the curiosity get the best of me…’ and it seemed to be getting worse, but not for long…
“If I ever make a contract with any constellation… it will be with you.” Haru’s words rang into the empty room.
[…] And it caused her mind to blank out.
Whoosh*
The fire was immediately extinguished and the room returned to its former state.
“It looks like the time has truly run out,” Haru sighed looking at the dark room, he turned around and walked towards the door with his memory alone.
He opened the door and walked out, in front of him was Do-gak.
“So, did you make the contract?” He asked with a smirk and…
“Why should I tell you again?” Haru asked and it soured the guy’s mood.
“Heh, you seem to think too highly of yourself,” But in the end Do-gak smirked, and started to poke his finger in the air.
‘Is he doing that?’ And Haru’s guess was correct.
“Tch, so you didn’t make a contract?” Do-gak clicked his tongue, and his face was getting scrunched up just thinking about his loss.
“Why? Did you make a deal or something?” Haru asked with a smile and Do-gak frowned.
‘How does this guy know?’ Do-gak was a little skeptical but he decided to let it slide, ‘what can he do even if he knows?’
“Well, there are still other Constellations who want to get in touch with you, let’s try them,” Do-gak said while doing something in the air again.
‘So, he is using the system panels after all,’ Haru wondered, to what extent can a Dokakebbi use the system?
“Don’t want to,”
