My Second Life in Another World - Chapter 437: Vermin
“What I think or not doesn’t matter. He gave his words, and it is my duty to make them a reality.”
Yoo-sung’s coat of fur stood on ends, she jumped back as a bolt of purple lightning slammed her previous spot. Staring at the sparks on the charred ground she couldn’t help but frown.
An attack of that level doesn’t call for her retreat, so why did she step back? Was it really because of the attack?
“You’re rather distracted in the middle of battle,” A dull pain rang through her abdomen, spikes of darkness had struck her abdomen but couldn’t penetrate her coat.
“The one who taught you did a terrible job. I will be sure to not make the same mistake,” Though her words cut deeper.
Something flashed in Yoo-sung’s mind, the days she spent training to be useful were clear. But what were these blurry moments now?
“What did you do to me?” This had to be some sort of hallucinogenic involved.
Although she had a great deal of resistance against mental attacks and poisons, she had chink in that armor.
“Nothing,” She said.
“Don’t lie to me!” Yoo-sung didn’t believe it. She had to end this quickly, otherwise the effects would worsen.
With ether in her hand, she bolted for Queresha, the glowing claws aimed at her cold face. But unlike last time the barrier didn’t hold up, it was crushed under the weight of the attack even then it didn’t land.
Yoo-sung clicked her tongue as the attack was blocked by a curved single-edged sword. The claws slide across the blade creating sparks, but no matter how much power she put in the blade never bent.
“Didn’t keep you waiting, did I? Woah!” However, the user was pushed back by the sudden increase in strength.
Hee-won slid back a few meters and sighed in relief. She saw Yoo-sung rush back to avoid the lightning bolts dropped by Queresha. It was great that the distance was maintained.
She rushed here after dealing with the Beasts that came her way, it was obvious that leaving The Disaster alone with Queresha was a bad idea. She was strong, yes, but these scenarios were made to be on Hell difficulty. The Dokkaebis did everything possible so they suffered.
Thus it was decided that whoever could reach the Disaster first could help her confront it as the others make their way there, Hee-won herself didn’t have an easy time but with her new supporting constellation. She was able to push through the horde at a quicker rate than others.
[The Constellation ‘Demonic Judge of Fire’ is cheering you on.]

‘She is fast,’ Hee-won rushed forward to intercept the Beast lord again. The ether-powered fists were like heavy hammers that rained endlessly against her guard.
If not for Queresha’s barrier allowing her a few extra moments, she would’ve been crushed instead of getting some cuts on her body. But with the trusty healer around she didn’t have to worry about them, sometimes they were healed before she even registered it.
“Damn it!” Hee-won was knocked back again trying to safeguard Queresha’s position, and even if she slashed at her neck yet it didn’t result in anything. The same was true for her previous strikes along with Queresha’s spears of darkness that were used whenever an opening was seen.
It was one of Shin Yoo-sung’s Unique skills, Beast Lord’s sensitivity. The white fur that wrapped around her didn’t tolerate a single scratch.
“You were so boastful but you have nothing,” There was a small smirk on her lips seeing their failed attempts. The feeling of crushing someone so similar to the one she hated was nice, but it wasn’t something she wanted.
Thus she made up her mind to end this quickly, it was a waste of time to fight them any longer. So, she called for the highest-ranking beasts she had at the moment.
The 5th grade sea species King Masswood, and the 5th Grade behemoth Heavy Metal Bean. At her call, the oversized ichthyosaur and armored gorilla were supposed to arrive instantly. But in the moment of elation, she failed to notice that two were dealt with.
“So this what that little kid is gonna grow up into. Huhu, it will be hilarious when he comes back to see this,” With a flash the first offender arrived with a sly smile.
“Hae-in this isn’t the time for jokes,” The second arrived in a similar fashion to her booming voice. The ground cracked as her blood-covered form landed near Queresha.
“Don’t be so prude Kana, there is always time for jokes,” She said.
“Call me that again and there will be hell to pay,” Kanae’s glare turned towards the smiling Hae-in.
‘These two seriously… we’re in the middle of facing a Disaster,’ Hee-won sighed. But the moment that their entrance was created were exploited by someone else.
“Truly Captain never changed,” Shin Yoo-sung ducked under the blade that came for her neck.
She didn’t do so because it was powerful, Shin Yoo-sung could’ve just crushed that blade but doing it so simply was of no use.
She had to end it all, the only way to stop more abandoned worlds, the only way to stop her suffering, and the only way to end the suffering of her companions. Shin Yoo-sung had to break Yoo Jung-hyuk’s will no matter what it took. He had to be broken to the point where he wouldn’t even wish to continue onto the next world, and if he did she would be there waiting for him.
Her speed caught up when he moved back with Red Phoenix Shunpo. With ether condensed to the limit on her fists Yoo-sung sent a punch for the oncoming blade.
That swordsmanship, she was familiar with it. After all, she had grown older seeing it daily. Breaking The Sky Sword, it was a reliable move set that Jung-hyuk could rely on no matter the opponent.
But in front of Yoo-sung, he was helpless. The SS-rank sword known for its toughness was now a piece of scrap iron. His right hand and leg were broken, and he could no longer use the sword or the shunpo to continue his resistance.
“Ugh…” He groaned as the bandages from the 6th grade Sulphur mummies wrapped around him burning his skin while restricting his movements.
“Keep your eyes open Captain. Let me show you what it feels like to be alone…” Shin Yoo-sung wanted him to know what it felt like for others—for her—when he turned his back on them after using them, and she would continue this on till he was consumed by this feeling.
That was the only way to end this cycle of suffering.
“You really grew up crooked, huh,” Hae-in couldn’t see the sweet little girl turning into this. At least, she will make sure that it doesn’t happen now.
“We know whose fault that is,” Kanae said looking at Jung-hyuk.
She knew enough about what was going on, and it wasn’t tough to conclude their connections. Though she still did not hate Jung-hyuk for it, circumstances play a big role and she had no idea about that for now.
“Do you all think the same?” Shin Yoo-sung asked.
But the topic of her question was different, the more she observed the more fog lifted off the scene in her mind.
Though the people in front of her did not understand, they were about to do exactly what she was thinking. The entire group assembled to save Shin Yoo-sung, but that wasn’t supposed to be her.
Although the task was an order too tall for their current capabilities, even with the combined forces of several kings and their strongest fighters the number of beasts kept on rising.
The Monster gates kept on pouring these blood-hungry vermin onto the world like a stream of an endless river. If they couldn’t contain them, everyone in Seoul Dome would be doomed.
The best way to alleviate this would be to reduce the pressure on the land forces and to do that their group had the perfect unit.
“Your Majesty… I still have 12 ships!” Lee Ji-hye said unsheathing her sword.
The majesty of a powerful constellation spread from her body and the stigma of the Maritime War God, The Ghost Fleet revealed itself to the beasts as 12 ghost ships showered them with bombardments.
But this alone was not enough to counter the ever-increasing numbers in the water, the beasts simply turned towards her ships and wanted to sink them. And in the meantime, they would reach her.
“Burn you vermin!” Which is why she had a teammate.
