My Unexpected Marriage - Chapter 3
I always wanted to become a doctor. But that was not a decision I can make for me. My father wants me to join Business school so that I can become a business woman who can help him in his business in the future. I like business but it was not my passion. But the choice was already made by my father. That’s why I am going to attend the business school.
I spent the time before attending the college with my brother. But I ly had time to see him, because I was helping my parents in our company’s main branch. Since from birth I was forced to do many things related to our family business, so now I am ok with it. Even if I want to refuse to do these things my parents won’t give any second thought of my feelings. They always preferred business first than the family. So I learned to do these things just to satisfy them. I took my brother with me when my parents arranged meetings with any important guests. Since he will become the company CEO in the future, I really wanted him to see how these things are getting done. I thought it is good to be with him. Also most of the time we are not together, so we have to make time for eachother.
After a few days, we, me and my brother met so many business tycoons just to make some deals with them and to ask their cooperation with us. It all went smoothly and we both had a great time together. My father told me to visit him at his study room. So I went there and saw that he is standing near the window facing outside. He seemed to be lost in deep thought so I cleared my throat lightly to show my presence and to get his attention.
“You are here. Come I need to talk to you about the college you are going to attend and also your future plans.” my father told me.
When he finished the sentence my mother entered in to the room with my brother. I didn’t understand the situation completely. So I just stood there and listened to them.
“Shanell, we decided to have your engagement with Mr. Joseph’s elder son, the CEO of the international company Zeus Corporation, the multi-millionaire Mr. Sam Zeus Joseph. You will be eighteen in two months and after that we can have the wedding ceremony. Also you will be attending the College XX Business Studies and Management in a few days. You can continue your studies after your marriage also.” My mother told me.
A shock wave went through me and I stood there with a confused gaze. When I looked at my brother he also had a puzzled look on his face.
“What, sis is getting married in two months? No way mom. Dad she is only turning eighteen in two months. How can you do something like this to her? She needs someone who will love her whole heartedly. But this is not love or care its purely business.” My brother argued.
I didn’t say anything. It was a huge news for me. My head was filled with many thoughts right now, like, How can I get married like this? What the hell is going on? I am only eighteen not thirty? Why did my parents want me to marry some rich guy suddenly? And who is this Sam Joseph? Then I heard my father’s voice.
“Shane, don’t start with me. This engagement was arranged for a long time. So be a good boy and study hard to become successful like your future brother-in-law.”
WHAT?? BROTHER-IN-LAW? I was dumbfounded by the word itself. Also what is this long time arrangement? Why did I never know anything about it?
“WHAT?? Long time? How come we never know anything about it dad?” My brother asked again furiously.
“Joseph Zeus and I are friends for a long time. We started business together. When we got married we promised eachother to become in-laws in future. You have got enough explanation and information. So make yourself ready for the marriage both of you.” My father told us.
“Yes dad.” We both replied with an unhappy tone in our voice. I really wanted to reject this proposal, but I really don’t know how will I explain that to my parents. I never met this Sam guy once in my life then how can I agree to this marriage. My mind become a trash by hearing the extremely shocking news.
I called Veronica at the moment I reached my room I asked her for the ‘E. T.’.It is the term we used in our gang of friends for extreme trouble of anyone in our gang. She immediately contacted our 7 member friends group and announced to meet at our favorite place in the city ‘The MORE Cafe’. It is the place where we can be safe and discuss our problems in privacy. The owners of the cafe knew us girls very well, we were like a daily customer to them. They always make us as their top priority. They left our favorite table always reserved for us every time. We loved them and they loved us.
