My Villainous Wife - Chapter 174
‘Ahem! Is that so?” Jin Woo covered the faint blush that appeared in his cheeks with a cough. Forgive him for being a single dog, but this younger brother of him was extremely shameless to feed them dog food!
“I’ll go and tell our other brothers about this.” Jin Woo excused himself.
Yan Xiaoran also shot him an apologetic smile before glaring at Alexander.
“What matters is that my brother believed.” Alexander, the roguish prince, did not apologize, but instead, he shrugged his shoulders as if it was nothing.
Alexander stopped talking and focused his gaze in front of him. His eyes followed Jack’s every move while Jin Woo spoke to the other brothers in their brotherhood. Meanwhile, Yan Xiaoran was looking at him helplessly.
“The way you’re looking at me… do you want me to reserve a room? Or do you want to kiss me now?”
Yan Xiaoran was speechless. She grabbed his arm and changed the topic, “I took Little Zi to one of the branches of my organization. My secretary is taking care of her, but I’m worried she might be slaving all of them in the office.”
Remembering how Fan Shaoteng excitedly saw her off in the airport, Yan Xiaoran could imagine how happy he was to babysit her daughter. But that wasn’t the problem. Little Zi will surely cause a lot of trouble and thrash around when she realized that her mommy wasn’t around.
And with Fang Shaoteng’s personality, it was no wonder if he was running around the office and take the role of her daughter’s personal slave.
At the mention of their daughter, Alexander couldn’t stop his eyes from exuding a gentle light in it. He said, “I haven’t seen Little Zi for a week now… How’s she?”
“She’s doing well. Just that… she developed a weird taste in toys.”
The last time they went to a fast-food restaurant, Little Zi took fancy on the boy’s toy in the restaurant. After that day, Yan Xiaoran tried to buy several dolls and toys for girls her age, but Little Zi ignored all of them and went to touch the gun that was on Fang Shaoteng’s hip.
That worried Yan Xiaoran to no end.
She was sure that Little Zi did not come from the two of them, and yet, her taste in things seemed to lean more towards what Alexander liked.
“She’s our daughter. There’s nothing weird about her tastes.” Alexander expressed his dissatisfaction as if he was offended by her words.
Yan Xiaoran: “…”
Alright, these father and daughter duo really suit each other.
“By the way, did you bring a gun?” Alexander’s suddenly asked her.
Yan Xiaoran patted her thɨġh and nodded.
Alexander’s gaze lingered on her thɨġh, and suddenly, his eyes grew cold. He stepped closer to Yan Xiaoran, and the unguarded and clueless Yan Xiaoran could only watch him getting closer.
She took a step backward and felt the edge of the table behind her back. Yan Xiaoran almost stumbled, but Alexander didn’t let her fall as he leaned forward.
He whispered, “After tonight’s party, it is better if you don’t wear any clothes in front of me.”
Yan Xiaoran blushed so hard, but before Alexander could thoroughly enjoy that beautiful and adorable scene before him, the lights in the hall were suddenly turned off. It was as if the life and liveliness of the party were suddenly snuffed out and died.
“What’s going?”
Who turned the lights off?”
“Where are the staff responsible for this?”
“Someone turn the lights on!”
Even after the guests continued to demand the lights to be turned on, the darkness continued to linger.
Upon having her sight taken from her, Yan Xiaoran didn’t hesitate to grab the pistol attached to her thɨġh holster and adjusted herself to the darkness while also trying hard to hear any significant clue amidst the chaotic noises.
“Stay by my side.” She heard Alexander and felt him moving to her side.
“Be careful,” she told him. “This might be Jack’s plan.”
Upon saying this, Yan Xiaoran remembered one critical thing.
Adam!
When the power was off, the people she heard speaking were all unfamiliar to her. Adam, the host of the party, should be the first one to say something. However, Yan Xiaoran didn’t hear his voice.
Alexander also thought of his and said, “They should have Adam by now.”
“Taking him from this party won’t cause any trouble to us. However, we should still be on our guard in case there are truly bombs planted in here.” She heard him adding.
Adam’s abduction was certainly not something anyone could interfere with. Even if Yan Xiaoran was an acquaintance with the Rossi family’s next head, this happened because of the internal conflict in their family.
If she tried to be a hero and save Adam now, it would send unnecessary trouble in her way. Besides, Adam was just a stranger she knew because of this party, so there was no emotional attachment even when she heard that Adam was taken.
“Shen Liu?”
A lead was forced in her stomach when she got no reply from Shen Liu.
Yan Xiaoran walked towards where Shen Liu was initially standing, but a hand grabbed her from behind.
“He’s fine.” She heard Alexander saying. “Your friend hid under the table when the light turned off. He’s smarter than he looks.”
Hiding under the table was undoubtedly the best way for a weak third-wheel to do to avoid danger. Knowing that he was only in the way of others and being out in the open was only asking for the bullets to enter his body, Shen Liu rolled under the table.
When he finally could breathe, Shen Liu prayed in his mind that the bad guys wouldn’t come to his table and flip it over, dragging him out of it.
However, just as he thought that everything was safe, Shen Liu heard something…
‘Beep…’
‘Beep..’
‘Beep.’
“Motherfudgingcake!”
