My Villainous Wife - Chapter 176
From a young age, Reo and Lucas were sent to the military. They reluctantly joined but grew to love the training regime that the military camp set for them. They continued to train even after getting out of the camp.
Reo kept flipping the tables, disregarding the scream of shock and complaints from some of the guests. They looked at him as if he had grown two heads on top of his shoulders.
But under the dark, they couldn’t do much but silently scold him in their hearts.
On the other hand, Lucas, the smaller guy, didn’t seem like the situation that much. His eyebrows drew together as he crawled under the table and took the bombs off from where it was tied.
Unlike Reo’s unrestrained action, Lucas chose to be silent about doing this. He’d rather not catch any attention and stop him from taking these bombs. But wearing a dress and wig for the party was certainly not a good idea to go bomb hunting.
“Are they going to be okay?” Yan Xiaoran asked.
“They’re not kids. They should know what they’re doing.” Alexander replied. “They might not look like it, but Reo and Lucas were part of the military in the past. They achieved great achievements and became Generals in their batch.”
Generals? Yan Xiaoran turned her head to look at the back, but because it was too dark on the other side of the hall where lights from outside could bȧrėly get in and with all the people blocking her sight, she couldn’t tell where Reo and Lucas were at this moment.
“Even that small guy? I mean, Lucas?” Yan Xiaoran threw a doubtful gaze at him.
Alexander chuckled. “Lucas may be small, but he did get the title as General. Besides, his family is all military men. However, the female members of the family didn’t become one and instead went to follow the medical world.”
“What about you?” she suddenly asked.
Alexander, who was vigilantly glancing around their surroundings, finally looked down at her, “I’m better than all of my brothers. I supply the military with their firearms and have my own army of men at the ready. I don’t take orders since no one is higher than me.”
Yan Xiaoran frowned. This was surprising. She got to know a few new things about Alexander and the other people around him.
But Yan Xiaoran asked, “No one? Not even the government?”
Even if Alexander was someone with great importance in the economy because he supplies firearms throughout the world, he should at least fear the law and government. After all, if the government felt displeased by Alexander’s action, they might do something to him behind the curtain.
However, this was all her speculation and nothing to do with reality.
Alexander stopped walking and put his one knee on the ground before taking a look under the table. Seeing that there was another bomb there, he took out his pocket knife and slashed the ropes around it before taking the bombs in his hand.
He understood what she was thinking and said, “The government cannot touch me. Even if they did, the question is… are they capable enough to do that?”
Yan Xiaoran smiled at that. She didn’t know why but there was a burst of confidence inside her heart when she heard him speak like this. It was as if there was a sense of limitless security in the arms of her husband.
So, this was what they called hugging the golden thɨġh? She thought to herself.
“How much do we have now?” From behind Yan Xiaoran, Shen Liu’s voice cracked.
Yan Xiaoran looked down at the bomb on Alexander’s hand and said, “Eight minutes.”
Only 4 minutes have passed since they found the bomb, but it felt like an eternity for them. Eight minutes was a short period of time, and anything could happen within that time limit.
“Are we going to survive this?” Shen Liu asked.
“We will.” She said in certainty.
“How are you so sure? And why are you so calm even in this situation?” Shen Liu looked at her. How could Yan Xiaoran act so calmly and relaxed in this pressure and when her life is on the line?
This wasn’t the first time that her life was threatened.
All her life, Yan Xiaoran was in constant pain and hunger driven by the rest of the Zhao family. They maltreated her and tried to justify their actions by a false accusation of some wrongs she didn’t do. At that time, she stayed silently without complaints and received all of them.
At that time, Yan Xiaoran thought it was the right thing to do for her mother’s sake. To strengthen her mother’s position in the family, Yan Xiaoran didn’t say a word to her mother. But who knew that her mother already knew all about the Zhao family’s mistreatment and did not say anything, turning a blind eye to what happened to her daughter.
And after she was taken to prison when she was sentenced to 10 years of life imprisonment, her life there wasn’t any better. She was bullied by most of the prisoners there, and if she didn’t resist, she might have been rȧpėd by the officers in prison.
But even after getting out alive there, she didn’t think that her life would become easier. Her enemies only multiplied, and who knows when they will strike at her.
He loved her and treated her so well like no one else did.
After getting out of her memory lane, Yan Xiaoran answered Shen Liu’s question.
She said, “Because I’m a survivor.”
She didn’t need to elaborately explain to him what exactly happened to her in the past. One person was enough, and she knew that Alexander would understand her and her future actions.
While they were speaking, the bomb on Alexander’s hand suddenly beeped.
When they looked down at it, they saw the numbers changing.
[00:03:00]
The timer skipped 5 minutes.
