My Villainous Wife - Chapter 26
“Thank you.” She sincerely said to him.
If it wasn’t because of Alexander, she would have already ended up collapsing in the street and who knew what the man in the park would do to her when he sees her fainted on the ground.
She was ashamed that after saying she wanted to live independently to Robert Qu, she ended up being in a mess deeper than she was already in.
She even involved Alexander in her situation. And yet, he still extended his hands to her and helped her.
Although the two of them had just met earlier, she was feeling grateful for the kindness he showed to her. She had guessed that since he was the grandson of Robert Qu, a powerful man, Alexander would be the same with the heirs and wealthy men she knew.
However, it seems that she was wrong. Not only did Alexander helped her get away from harm, but he also happened to save her that night and let her rest and have a meal in his house.
She sneaked a glance at him but as soon as she raised her eyes, who knew that Alexander was staring at her all this time.
“That…” Yan Xiaoran’s words were caught up in her throat as she couldn’t avert her eyes when it made contact with his black obsidian eyes.
Yan Xiaoran licked her lips and started to speak once again, “Thank you for letting me stay tonight. I really appreciate it.”
Alexander was just about to say something when his phone lit up. He stood up and excused himself before he went out of the kitchen.
Yan Xiaoran watched his figure disappear from her sight and sighed. Her nerves relaxed once the door to the kitchen was shut closed.
She couldn’t understand the reason why, but Alexander’s action towards her seemed too strange. From the moment he called her name till now, Alexander was acting like they knew each other for so long that he was too comfortable with her.
Or maybe, he’s just too amiable that’s why he could act like this towards her.
Unsure when she fell asleep, Yan Xiaoran sat up and rubbed her eyes. She was surprised to see that she was no longer in the kitchen and was now lying on a bed.
However, it wasn’t the same room she was in when she first woke up, and instead, the room was completely different and was wider than the previous one and the sun was already up.
She couldn’t remember how she ended up inside this room but upon looking closely at the interior design of the room, she could practically guess that she was inside Alexander’s room.
But there was no sign that Alexander was inside the room and stayed there with her.
Sighing herself in relief, Yan Xiaoran pulled the covers and stood up. She took her time to stretch her body and arrange the bed before stepping out of the room. She thought that it would be rude for her to let the expensive king-sized bed that she slept on last night messy.
Once again, she found herself standing in the corridors, but this time, she could finally make out the elegance of the interior design of the house. The combination of European and modern style was different from the apartment Robert Qu had bought for her. However, she couldn’t stop feeling overwhelmed at the expensive furniture and paintings hanging on the wall that was painted by world-renowned painters.
Several tall antique vases designed each side of the corridors and she had to be careful to not bump into any of them in fear that her measly life wouldn’t even be able to pay half of the price of one of these vases.
When she finally reached the stairs she took last night, she saw several maids and butlers rushing around downstairs like they had hot coals stuck in their buŧŧs.
However, their complexion and faces didn’t change one bit as they continued to work silently and efficiently.
They didn’t seem to notice her as she reached downstairs. Last night, she didn’t see any of the maids or butlers and thought that Alexander lived alone, but upon seeing this sight today, she wondered where they were that they let Alexander use the kitchen last night.
Besides, if he really wanted to cook, he could easily call for someone to do the task and yet, Alexander decided to do it by himself but still failed miserably and almost burned down the whole house.
Not wanting to disturb them from doing their tasks, Yan Xiaoran silently passed by them when an old butler suddenly stopped in front of her.
Startled at the sudden appearance of the old butler, Yan Xiaoran almost gasped out loud.
The old butler didn’t seem to notice that he almost gave her a heart attack and said, “Good morning, Miss Yan.”
“G-good morning.” She stuttered.
“It is good that you are awake. I was just about to go to the room where you were sleeping and wake you up,” he suddenly said, “The breakfast is ready and Master Alexander told me to and get you.”
“I see…” she nodded her head before adding, “Is he alone?”
Yan Xiaoran wanted to prepare herself from meeting anyone aside from Alexander in the dining room. She accidentally intruded into his house and it would be a problem if she suddenly became anxious about being around too many people and embarrass herself.
She saw the butler shook his head and before the uncomfortable feeling rises up inside her heart, the butler’s next word slightly gave her some relief, “Aside from master, there are still two other people in the dining room.”
